Why is anger male so appealing? (Long rant)

Description:

Quote:
"Signs of anger issues in a man may include*frequent outbursts, verbal or physical aggression, isolation from loved ones, irritability, and a pattern of blaming others. While anger is a natural and healthy emotion, problems arise when it becomes disproportionate to the situation."
You should really think this is cool, attractive and appealing???

Since when did it become fashionable? Why?

Why we were lied to?

Example:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mb4MCvVw3PM
• "I'm not really big at words"
Guys, lack of words is not strength and sexy. Stoicism is not fashionable. You should talk.
• "Loner, hothead, maniac"
You think being a team-player has become uncomfortable, embarrassing and below dignity? Being a “loner” isn’t depth, it’s disconnection.
Who said that hothead is passionate?
• "Warrior"
The “warrior” pose glorifies aggression. Temperance - not bravado.

While flaws can happen. It is not ok to glorify and fall in love with it. Plenty iteration happened but this dude Raph stayed a PISSY FACE, ffs. I won't forgive anyone for pushing and forcing this toxic male archetype, while others can and allowed to move on, change, progress, and vary from each of their portrayals.
Can we put a stop to worshipping this kind of toxicity in a character and iterating in every version.
Toxic male fakefanz really into anger Raph because otherwise "Leo is boring, Don is nerdy and Mikey is annoying". They effing diminished everyone to their shallow, made-up archetypes. They primitivised and hate everybody.
______________________________________
Finishing point: put those nonsense traits in a villain. Not on Raph. Who's supposed to be a hero and a role model. Remember, for kids, impressionable kids.
Who we want to grow up and become responsible and emotionally intelligent adults. Add something nice, good, innovative, intelligent and trusting to the society. Be a healthy element, member, cell to the society's existing chaos and struggles. Ok.
Don't cater to anger male fans, who have no depth, personality, and sense of boundary of their own. Who were propagated in filth romanticising those males. We shan't be sick in the head and excuse temper, bad behavior, "boys will be boys" propaganda, instead we should bypass glorifing and falling in love with those people for fashion, for those poor expression of a character and, instead, look out for each other (regardless of gender. Real looking out, for safety and mental health, not covering each other's faults, ok).
We should move on, we should be aware, be better.
Be responsible and conscious of what we show, bypass, and glorify onscreen.

So here's a question for a poll, for fun.
When out of 4 people who
•live in the same place,
•grown in the same place
•eat the same food
one of them is pissy, they could be SICK, stressed. They are NOT ok. It is NOT normal.

Health reasons, besides just simply being confrontational:
Quote:
• Heart & Blood Pressure: Stress raises heart rate and blood pressure, straining the cardiovascular system.
• Immune System: Chronic stress weakens immunity, making someone more prone to infections.
• Digestion: Stress slows or disrupts digestion, which can cause stomach pain, diarrhea, or constipation.
• Hormones & Metabolism: Cortisol affects blood sugar and fat storage, which can increase risk for diabetes or weight gain.
• Brain & Mood: Stress chemicals interfere with sleep, memory, focus, and can lead to anxiety or depression.
• Muscles & Pain: Stress causes muscle tension, headaches, and even chronic pain.

I don't think moody and angry Raph is appealing one bit. Relatable for many sure, but I think its tiresome most of the time.

Shredder and Krang combined had the biggest arsenal of any villains in all of the cartoons.

It's like asking why Wolverine is so popular from X-men or Vegeta from Dragon Ball Z, short tempered characters usually appeal to people and become the most popular in their respective franchises.

I think people like them as characters because they feel like they can’t or won’t actually express anger in real life.

My wife is absolutely the “Raph” of the family, but she’s always been more of a Mikey fan for most versions.

So basically people like asshole abusive characters who won't express themselves. And largely romanticise them.

The way this was going on for so long (the fake and forced concept of) with anger, poser male Raph, I can confidently say this is some kind of result of mental plague and derail in people.
People were out of their minds. We should have been better rather than let anyone find any excuse to fall in love with a harmful, simplified trait rather than depth and character. And force anyone into compliance, harrass anyone who disagrees. :///

We should have not rewarded poor preferences and treatment of other people.

That's all I'm going to say.

In the terms of TMNT it's because teenage males are often moody and combative as they come into their own.

It's just a reflection of one of the cliche tropes of the teenage years.

• “If you’re a boy and not combative, you’re not masculine enough.”
• Boys get shoehorned into a single emotional note (anger), while girls often get the opposite cliché (overly emotional, nurturing).
• Bullying, lashing out, or even abusive behavior can be downplayed as “just being a teen boy.” That lowers accountability.

•reinforces toxic masculinity and erases richer, healthier versions of teenage life.

• Is a gaslighting tactic when adults won't listen.
Why understanding and naturally being gentle isn't a normal behaviour. Avoided as if it is falsely toxic itself.

This creates a warped script where the healthiest traits (patience, kindness, listening) are undervalued, while destructive ones get normalized.

3. The harm in this double standard

• For boys: they grow up thinking their worth = toughness + aggression. If they are gentle, they might hide it to avoid ridicule.

• For girls and others around them: they pay the price of combative behavior being excused instead of corrected. Punished for expressing discomfort/disagreement.

All of that are earmarks of the cliche, sure. But on that note, they did it somewhat well in TMNT because each brother is a separate archetype of teenage-staging rather than all 4 of them being "angry ninja!"

In some cases, maybe the same kind of reason people hire or elect jerks to positions of power. They confuse being a jackass with "good leadership" skills.

Always preferred the calm and collected sort that can think stuff through and try to make good decisions. The punch first, ask questions later sort is not appealing to me.

"Teenage staging", meaning: bullying is done well?
You mean screaming, abusing, mocking, bothering? Huh?
OoO

I'd continue to discuss, but I'm not sure what you are really getting at. Sounds more like contextual griping about personal experiences than it does about the characterization of TMNT?

Look - the perception problem is multi-faceted and deep among fandoms because you can run the gamut on every type of thinker out there. For example, there are people that don't understand that "creators" aren't always intellectual powerhouses and they rely on tropes and archetypes instead of pure nuance.

For example, George Lucas "brilliantly" super-simplified alien planets. "Sand world". "Water world". etc.
Every incarnation of Star Trek has had some cliche character that is essentially the "non-human striving for development through humanity".
Most popular stories from the 80's and 90's used clear "personality archetypes" for their "group". Egon was a nerd. Peter was cool. Ray was silly.
Hell, I think every Stephen King novel has the same cast of characters in it across every story, and that includes some religious zealot somewhere, and he's supposed to be some writing "genius".

So I'm addressing these things through the intellectual through-line of story-tropes.

What are you getting at? Because so far it sounds like a verbal-trap suited to what? Your own interactions with "bullying" in real life? What are we actually discussing here?

They are all in a grey zone. Nobody is noble, nobody is humble. They all bully and bother one another.

I bring you the tmnt 2012 version and vision of "Teenage staging" portrayal. What's yours?

_________
Also my main thread was about abuse and toxic trait glorification and romantisation. Which I largely find to be popular and targeted in Raph only. Making him shallow everywhere.

I missed the times where he was just "the normal" for me.
Is that hard to ask for.

Emotions are valid, but we should avoid some of it, since it made the fans feel out of place and deranged. Further dig themselves into a swamp of toxic masculinity obsession/dream. Eh.

ticktack has... An unusual way of writing messages... To say the least. Here's a translation of ticktack's incoherent ramblings to something much more normal:

"Why is Raphael popular when he is typically presented as being hostile towards his brothers? I believe he doesn't deserve to be popular because I think characters like him reinforce real world bad behaviour."

I'm not sure why ticktack doesn't just learn how to use lists and spoiler tags properly or why there are external links shoved in as arguments. At least make more complete paragraphs in which all the opinions and arguments are laid out before moving on to the next thought, instead mostly making these short loosely connected single lines.
