Halo is now on Playstation

Pour one out for Xbox. It's basically official that Microsoft is out of the console race. All their big franchises like Halo, Gears of War, and Forza are now on PS5.

Xbox is the next Sega. Hard to believe only Nintendo and Sony will be in the console race by next gen.

The end of an era. It's like when Sonic first appeared on Nintendo consoles. Felt like a huge deal at the time but younger generations will never know. Xbox is like that now.

Gotta hand it to Nintendo and Sony, they know exactly what they're doing to still be so successful after 30+ years.

Halo's over, anyway. There hasn't been a bonfide hit since Halo 3.

Xbox is a game streaming platform, it doesn't matter where it's exclusives go. Microsoft has the winning strategy going forward as people begin streaming games.

Nintendo will survive since they know their segment. Sony? Playstation will die as people move on from traditional consoles

Semi-related question here, I don't really care because I no longer play FPS games on consoles because I found out the mouse controls, so it's not like I am going to buy a console for what FPS game is exclusive to it, especially not if it's on PC as well. I might buy a Switch 2 and I would probably get Metroid Prime 4 for it considering that is basically guaranteed to never be on PC, but it's hardly the only exclusive game for it that I would play.

Which brings me to the question, I know the Switch 2 actually has mouse mode for the joycons, so you can probably play FPS games with mouse controls on the Switch 2, right? If so, has anyone tried it? Are mouse controls on the Switch 2 any good? I know the Switch 1 has gyro controls for FPS games that felt awkward for most FPS games I tried and it worked well with the 90's Doom games, which is basically just because those games won't let you look up and down so you can't screw up your aim.

That's certainly major news, but as someone who grew up in the 90s, nothing will ever beat Sonic games being on Nintendo consoles in the early 2000s during the GBA and GameCube era. So, after that, pretty much anything is possible except Nintendo games being on Sony consoles, Steam or Microsoft consoles. Nintendo folding or quitting making consoles is just not a realistic thing in 2025.

Anyway, I never had a Microsoft console. I did want a 360 for a while and my brother has one. That system seemed good and it revolutionised online gaming as we know it. The PS2 and the PS3 always had pretty lousy online connections in comparison, from what I've heard.

It's kinda strange to me still how the OG Xbox outsold the GameCube 20 years after the fact, tbh. I guess Halo really must have sold like water in the desert back in the day. Because, other than Halo, the OG Xbox is mostly remembered for Fable and KOTOR. And Fable and KOTOR are not exactly exclusives since you can buy them on Steam. Fable did not make it to PC until a decade ago or so though iirc. So what exactly were most people's Xbox libraries like back then? I guess DOA3 and the DOA Beach Volleyball too?
