TMNT x G.I. Joe coming from Playmates

These got leaked earlier, but official images are out:

The Slash-Storm Shadow is perfection.

I still cannot believe there is an exclusive Toilet Taxi Donatello, but not a second Slash action figure. Slash is a recurring character in the CBS Kid TV series and made far more appearances than Mondo Gecko. Slash is criminally underrated. NECA gave us 3 cartoon Slash figures (2020 one, reissue, and ultimate). The fans deserve more Slash from Playmates and Mattel. I’m happy Storm Shadow Slash is being made!

I hope this isn't all that the new stuff Playmates will give us before they bow out. New sculpts for this? Who even cares about GiJoe? Those people have to be getting close to 60 I think, that was like a 70s cartoon right? Gi Joe hasn't been relevant in what 40+ years I guess?

With that said, the April sculpt is pretty decent, if there's no GI Joe references to her I could get her as a generiac April I guess. Shredder is surprisingly good, my only complains are the cobra logo and the fact that I gues they did the spikes bendy like a snake? They look odd. I kinda wish this had been a TMNT only line to be honest with those sculpts.

Giving Donatello a porno ‘stache was certainly a choice!

Not even remotely a G.I. Joe guy, but I NEED me that Storm Shadow Slash. Very happy that Playmates were able to sneak in one last new figure of my dude before the line's end, and he is looking absolutely sick. (Love the lines around the eyes to make them stand out. Gives him a very animated look.)

It looks like Playmates is on a role with the Godzilla figures and now this.

I was never into GI Joe (somehow missed it when I was a kid) but there's some knockout figures in this list.

April O Neil is exceptional, better than all their previous Aprils the Hasbro MMPR's April and even Super7 Wave 3 April.

Slash, I'm getting tempted. Unlike the He-man crossover where the Slash proportions kinda annoyed me a bit, this Slash is phenomenal.

B&R, already Playmate's best iteration, but perhaps the camera angle is just really flattering with the dynamic pose and zoom in on their guns.

Shredder, Krang and the turtles on the buggy look like fun figures but I probably wouldn't get them. Then again, I probably don't have much room for any turtle lines beyond Super7 and NECA (going to sell my BST AXN 37 set TMNT collection for 225 dollars if anyone is interested lol).

G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero was on in the 80s -- at the same time as G1 Transformers and He-Man and the early Mirage TMNT comics, in fact. Much like TMNT, it's also had a number of new cartoons and movies and toylines over the years, with Hasbro's current Classified line being among the best figures you can get at standard retail. G.I. Joe isn't even my favorite thing (I have a number of the figures because they're generally good toys), but I'm excited about these. Especially B&R and Slash... somehow they look kinda like cool reinterpretations of the characters even without the crossover. (I do wish B&R had ankle hinges, though.)

OMG could you imagine if this led to Hasbro releasing a 4" wave of Turtles incorporated into G.I. Joe?

That would be amazing.....

It WOULD make a cool companion piece with the vintage Turtle Copter. Which was awesome but never made any sense at all.

Not feeling a need for them, but do appreciate the "vintage toy ad" feel they went for that image.

Shocked the MSRP on these is only $16 per figure.

Still really tempted by that Slash Storm Shadow.

Did anyone pick these up yet? Any favorites? I haven’t seen Mike, Raph, Shredder, Bebop, or Slash yet. Any reviews?

Fascinating that we're all so quiet!

So far I've got Krang, Donnie, and Rocksteady (and Shredder, but I haven't opened him yet). They're... fine? Like I really like the designs -- I don't actually care *that* much about GI Joe, but they look as fun as any random alternate Playmates original figure. (Rocksteady in particular might be the best Rocksteady Playmates has ever sculpted.) Articulation could be WAY better, though; they gave them more joints without any understanding of how those joints should function for poseability, and again Playmates shortchanges the villains (except Shredder and Slash) in that department. I'll hopefully someday end up swapping boots with ankle hinges onto Krang and Rocksteady. I'll also probably end up drilling new holes in the feet so that the ankle pivots work properly. Not sure what to do about the arms; the lack of a bicep swivel is unacceptable. So they look good -- really good, and could look even better if one were inclined to hit them with a wash and/or some drybrushing -- but have some super frustrating and unnecessary flaws.

Anyway. Hoping to also find at least Bebop and Slash, and I could see snagging the other Turtles if they eventually end up being easy to find and I don't have to grab them all in one go? But... they're fine. I do want Slash, but I'd not weep to miss out on more of these.
