The one aspect in which the FW cartoon is more accurate than the other cartoons.
Hamato Yoshi was a member of the Foot in the FW cartoon and it's so far the only one that got that part right. I think I've said it before but I think it might bear repeating, it's really bizarre because it's the only thing about the FW show that is more comic accurate than the others.
In the 4Kids show, he was initially trained to fight the original Shredder should he rise again and left that cause to fight the current Shredder as one of the Guardians of the Utrom. In the 2012, he was part of a rival clan instead, with the Foot only being restored right before he fled to America. In Rise he's also just trained to fight Shredder if he should come back. In Tales he just straight up doesn't exist unless the second movies states otherwise, which still wouldn't technically be part of that show. The FW cartoon may make it's one Utrom character evil and also not really an Utrom, have humans turn into beastmen instead of strictly sticking to animals becoming humanoid, have April be all about journalism, turn Shredder into a Skeletor-Clone, make the Turtles all about eating pizza and nothing else, turn Leatherhead into a Cajun bully, fill nearly the entire cast of characters with ones they just made up, turn Baxter into... Uh... You know... A fly monster... But somehow, having Hamato Yoshi starting off as a member of the Foot, that's the one thing the other shows don't get right. Weird. |

Might be a problem for the focus groups worried about little kids. If you make Splinter the father figure of the Turtles and the Foot Clan the big villainous group and make Splinter a part of it, it makes him less "Good" and "Just." And then the darker you make the Foot Clan the more that retroactively rubs onto Splinter.

In the original cartoon, in Splinter's backstory he said Oroku Saki turned the Foot into a crime syndicate, it wasn't like that prior to him getting framed and thrown out of the dojo. ("Throw the bum out!") So it seems like the Foot Clan was just a regular ninja dojo in the 80's (!) at the time before Shredder took it over.
Then for some reason after Shredder meets Krang, he abandons the human Foot Clan entirely for Krang's robots. It's weird they never really explained that properly. |

Interesting thread Neatoman. I never considered this, but you’re right. All the other cartoons feature the “Hamato Clan”, the Guardians or in the case of FAKE Tales he doesn’t exist at all.
It was actually the 70’s. |
