Arcade game has a wall-bounce

Is anyone else's mind blown that the game has a wall-bounce?

I'm guessing the sprites for the animation are unique to the move and aren't used anywhere else in the game.
It's almost useless and I think those frames are missing from many of the old sprite sheets online. I have yet to boot up Cowabunga Collection or any PC emulators to try it myself.

yep. if you do it in level one after april screams, she'll scream twice
