I say Keep Ninja Turtles like it was
I too am a fan of the old mirage comics, i just started reading them though, but I myself grew up with the cartoon. I can't tell you how much joy it brings to watch the turtles all goofy and happy like, it makes me remember how the days where when i was a kids....i really wish they would do this
for the cartoon, use the same animators and writiers as the old cartoons and then maybe release some Animated videos or show some late night cartoons on Comedy Central or HBO, show some darker turtle stories, with some animation like in the spawn cartoons just some input froma newbie |

I too share that feeling for i grew up with the toon too, and it is my favorite tmnt universe...however, there were enough episodes in the old cartoon so now i would like to see something new and different.

Yeah, I agree. The old cartoon was the old cartoon. It will forever remain untouched and preserved in time for us to enjoy over and over...
But there comes a time when the new age is amongst us and it would be refreshing to see something new. I like how this new cartoon looks, acts, and feels. And it sounds like it'll have the same zany humor that was present in the first cartoon, minus the balloony/chuild-like appearence the Turtles had then. Asides, I'm also a Mirage comic fan, so I think seeing more of the comic book feel in a animated show is great. See it like this, there was the Batman show of the 50-60's... but then there is also the modern Batman 90's. But exist together, with their own set of fans. I think it's great that the TMNT are trying to go for the same idea. |

Like everyone else here I too have some sentimental attachment to the old cartoon, but let be terribly honest for a moment.....the old cartoon was AWFUL! Yes you've heard me correctly AWFUL! The Turtles were supposed to be action heroes; instead they were turned into smily faced little green people that were obsessed with pizza and bad jokes. Even the villians weren't menacing.
To me the only real TMNT is the Mirage incarnation. If the new cartoon can do anything to deliver the feel of the Mirage comics then I'll be ectstatic. It's time the TMNT are treated as the action heroes they were in those comics. If the new series delivers action packed adventures, interesting stories, returning and new characters, and some classic TMNT humor (which the mini-comic, character artwork, and the statements of Peter Laird seem to suggest it will) then in my opinion it should be light years better than the original.

I agree with you to some point ratking, but i think it wasn't awful... Yeah it's true that it got boring after the first season but there are good eps here and there... I grew up with the show too and thats why i cant hate it... If Mirage would have been my first contact with tmnt i think i wouldn't like the cartoon... Peter Laird himself has stated that he got bored with the series...
I have really high hopes for the new series, and Im begining to think that it will be what i want. |

the 5 1987 eps arre like the ideal cartoon, I would keep all the goofiness and pizza which is part of the TMNT universe and make the fight scenes not slapstick and perhapes keep the Shredder like he was in the beginning

Well the gofinessis not part of the original tmnt universe.... But there are humour in mirage comics. I think the same kind of humor wil be seen in the new cartoon.

Ahhh... ye old Mirage, I pick! Yeah... it wasn;t the cartoon that won me over. It was the first movie and the comics I found after that that made me a fan.
But the humor, I think, will be something like in the new comic (for those who are reading that). Raph is making snide remarks there too. Those don't have the same charm as in the original cartoon, but that's probably cause I'm reading it. Simply put, I'm not gonna cast judgement on the new show until it is actually seen!
