What's wrong with these Vehicles?

Is anyone else bothered by the new toy vehicles? They absolutely stink. What's wrong with Playmates Toys?
First off, the Battle Shell does not represent the one in the show. The colors are different and it only has 4 wheels unlike the show's 6-wheel Battle Shell, among other differences. This bothered me since episode 1.
Then they made two vehicles that aren't even in the show: Turtle Tracker
and Pogo Copter. Instead of focusing on these dumb rereleases, Playmates should focus on show-accurate vehicles. "Turtle Tunneler", anyone? That awesome tunnel digging vehicle in the episode "Return to the Underground". Why not make that large vehicle to seat all 4 turtles. How appealing that would be to kids. How about the Shell Sub toy? This Sub looks NOTHING like the Shell Sub we saw in the episode "Junklantis". Now that was a cool vehicle which Playmates should have made into a toy, that would seat all 4 Turtles. No, they decide to just IGNORE the show, and make their own dumb little Shell Sub, which only fits one turtle. Is it me, or are these vehicles getting worse as they are released? Also, where are the Villian Vehicles? We only have a little Razor Jet for one Foot Ninja. How about that Giant Tenticle Vehicle in the "Return to NY" trilogy? When I first saw that on the show, I thought how much it would make an awesome toy that would appeal to many kids, along with us older collectors. In my observation, this toy line is not matching up to it's predecessor. In the old toy line, Playmates took their time and created cool, unique vehicles that were SHOW-ACCURATE. Even the box art was creative. They were larger, fit more figures, and were just better. Playmates Toys has to shape up and start taking their time with these cool toys we like to collect, play with, and admire.

Yeah I am very bothered by these new vehicles

They are totally rip offs from the old show, and the colors , Likewise.

They're too old school green and some of them aren't even related to the show, that's just lame.

So.... yeah I think they kinda stink too

Yeah, the new vehicles are really lame. They just reuse old molds to save money, but the vehicles look nothing like the ones in the show, so it's probably confusing to kids, and pissing off hardcore fans, as evident by this thread. I wonder if they even sell?

I think a large problem too is that Playmates is oversaturating the market with Turtle Varients. I wouldn't mind a set every once in awhile, but they've released 4 variants with at least 1 more on the way in about a year, while we still wait for other figures to come out, like Baxter, who has been in the show since the beginning. Personally, I'd rather have new figures then 5 different Leo's.

I considertham to be a neccessary evil inorder to get the figures and items we would like to see. Designing, sculpting, tooling and producing a new vehicle is expensive. Releasing existing vehicles form the earlier lines such as the Turtle Tracker is relatively cheap (since the major cost have already been paid.) and it Allows Playmates to do things like creating and releasing a series of figures with 9 new sculpts! In addition, while some of the vehicles have been dissappointing like the Turtle Copter, most have been pretty cool, certainly better than what any other company is putting out these days. To be honest, I would rather have the small turtle sub that we got than a huge one that probably wouldn't have sold well at a $20+ price point and just clogged the shelves.

It's important to remember that this line is still aimed at children, most of whom are willing to stretch their imaginations beyond just what they see on the show. I say give them all the fun toys they'll buy and make sure there are legions of Future TMNT fans to follow in our foot steps.

The old turtle van held all 4 turtles and then some it was awesome! You could fit two in the front like 3 in the back and one on the door. And it was cool you could have all different kinds of guys in the front even Mondo Gecko fit and stuff. It was better but Id rather have bigger toys then smaller ones that fit in the vehicle better. Doesnt bother me really. I mean I only paid 11 bucks for it why complain

in defense of playmates, the turtle van was probably based on preliminary artwork and not the final episode. This happened to playmates before during "Star Trek Generations"... they sculpted the cast in new movie uniforms then the film scrapped the new suits at the last minute, leaving Playmates with 7 figures wearing uniforms they NEVER appeared in! This happens all the time with tie-ins. The Shell Cycle is probably the same thing.

As for the Pogo-Copter and the Shell Sub... there's no excuse for this. I consider myself a big collector (avid almost... i check wal-mart every day before work for new stuff), but I only buy the figures... in fact, id have never bought the Giant figures if they hadn't been on clearance for 8 bucks.

As for flooding us with Turtle variants... well, it IS Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles... turtles should be in the waves... who says you have to buy them?

I think they're bland in colors and design.

Oh well, it is best that I don't spend my money on them.

until i read this thread..i never really realized how much the vehicles are kinda crappy in direct reference to the show. i mean they arent bad but seeing as how they are based on the show..you would think a little more detail would have went into it or them. yeah i did collect the vehicles but i did the ol' wal mart swap and i had some receits so i could focus just on the figures...gettin to be too much money for this college student
