Old Toon Casey = Jason?

If I remember accurately, wasn't Casey Jones a complete psychopath int he old toon?

I mean, he was always a little bit crazy in the movie and comic (overly vioolent, if anything), but in the old toon he was absolutely nuts.

Did they cange his character in that manner to capitalize off the Friday the 13th movies at the time? Like the writers assumed kids would associate anything wearing a hocky mask with Jason Vorheese.

I mean, he was always nutty, but I don't think he ever did anything along the lines of applying for a job at an office building while wearing his hocky mask, or try to break the Turtles' heads open because they tipped a vending machine.

Anyway, just a thought.

I didn't like Casey in the old toon... as far as characters go, there wasn't much to him. He was just pretty much crazy.

I have no idea if they based him on Jason, though.

There were things in the old toon that were just destined to never happen. One of those things was show Casey's real face. I always wanted them to show it, but they never did. Oh well. He was also a very one-dimensional
character.
Another such thing was turn Baxter back into a human. I was looking forward to that...never happened. Oh well.

Raph and Casey surrounded by foot-

Raph- Sorry to burst your bubble Jason, but these aren't friends of mine.

Casey- So not only do you get in my way, you also get me involved in your personal problems. AND STOP CALLING ME JASON!!!

Casey is awesome in all TMNT universes and it wouldn't suprise me if he was a rip off of Jason. Characters are very similiar in a lot of ways.

...They wear hockey masks. That's pretty much where the similarities end.

Just for the record, it's VOORHEES, not Vorheese.

I'd say Casey Jones in the original cartoon was more of a Clint Eastwood type parody. You could especially tell when he'd call street thugs "punks".

Even in the old cartoon he sounded like Clint Eastwood. Even Raph said 'this guy's been watchin too many Filthy Larry movies.'
