toys never made

If the red sky series had new characters how come they never made a toy of DRegg, the soilders that dregg had, mung, Carter and Mutating Turtles( The things the turtles mutated into). They never made Grantor (the one with traagg in Hot Rodding TEenagers from Dimension X) and the Rock Soilders action figures. They never made a mutating baxter human to fly. They should have made the rock soilders since they were main characters. They should have made lotus blossom and the 2 other FROGS. As the years went by, all they made was mainly variations of the Turtles. 1997 was the last year of the old school turtle toys. That was a cooincidience since The old school cartoon went off the airwaves in September 1997, making 1997 the end of the old school series, almost 10 years after the 5-part mini-series.

This is no complaint, but Playmates tends to overdo it with the figures they make, making alot of varations of characters and releasing 2ndary characters (they did that with star Trek and the recent Simpsons line that will cease this summer)

Were there ever turtle toys that never got produced, but were planned. They never even made high tech and they could have made berserko(I never saw the ep of him, but heard of the character), tempestra and Alpha 1. I wonder other characters they should have made. They should have made the techno-rover.

There were a lot of figures that were planned and even prototyped in some cases but never saw release. However, if you are asking if any of the characters from the show were planned, the only one I'm aware of would be Dr. Quease from the TMNT: the next mutation line.

From the Toy Fair catalogs I've collected from the 10 year run of the original line, I've come up with the following items that were planned but never released:

1991 Unreleased

Turtle Tenderizer 4x4
Leo's Turtle Shell Backpack
13" April

1992 Unreleased

Michaelangelo's Sidewalk Surfer
Raph's Pizza-Powered Parachute (this did come out but with Donatello instead)
Retromutagen Rifle
Turtle Popcan Racer
Sewer Sports Soccer Ball

1993 Unreleased

Road Ready Raph (Was released as Road Ready Don.)
Muta-party Wagon
Giant Movie III Samurai Mike
Giant Movie III Samurai Don

1995 Unreleased
Warrior Rahzar with fur

Special Sewer Forces
Communications Specialist Leonardo
Covert Specialist Raphael
Demolition Specialist Donatello
Submergence Specialist Michaelangelo

Mini-Mutants
Classic Military Combo (motorcycle & jeep with Bebop)
Wild Wheelie Combo (two motorcycles with Leonardo)
Sewer Speed Bustin' Combo (two motorcycles with Splinter)
Classic Cruisin' Combo (two motorcycles with Donatello)
4x4 Anti-Foot Combo (two monster trucks with Michaelangelo)
All-Terrain Kowabunga Combo (4x4 dune buggy, 4x4 sport coupe and Rocksteady)
Wacky Water Race Combo (two boats, a trailer and Michaelangelo)
Modern Military Combo (camoflage newscycle and Turtlevan and Raphael)

Mini-Cyber Plane/Weapons Station
Team Ninja Figure assortment (the four turtles in cybernetic armor)
Metal Mutant Rocksteady with Serpent Armor
Metal Mutant Bebop with Fish Armor
Metal Mutant War Horse
Jim Lee's TMNT Leonardo

1996
Warriors of the Forgotten Sewer
Spell Caster Splinter
Knight Mike
Barbarian Leo with tiger Raph

1998 Unreleased

Ninja Turtles: the next mutation
Dr Quease
Shadow Ninja Deluxe figures
Michaelangelo with Quick-Draw Tonfa
Raphael with Hidden-Attack Sais
Venus de Milo with Ninja-Star Throwing Action
Leonardo with Kamikaze Katana
Donatello with Battlin' Bo

Of all the ones listed, not having a Grantor has bothered me for going on 15 years. He was an important secondary character from Season 1 on, and even showed up in the video games!

What game was he in?
And the only ones I really wanted to see released was the rest of Warriors of the forgotten sewers because Io had half of them and I wanted to know why they never made ones for Leo Mikey and Raph. Cause I had the Don Dwarf and Bebop and Rocksteady they were cool!

WEll the unreleased toys was no big deal since the unreleased toys were just variations of the turtles. I did notice the fact that Dr. Quease was never made. I never found him and assumed that he was not going to be made.

THE game. TMNT2: The Arcarde Game (though it also came out on the NES). I don't have the stages memorized, but he was at the end of one of the street-level stages. The one between the Cheap-Skate chase, and the Shogun level. He was the boss with the flame thrower.

Or it was another stone soldier aesthetically identical to him. Either way, we needed a figure.

They did make Leo the Barbarian. However, they also had a set planned with Leo and Raph as a sabertooth tiger. As for the other two, Knight Mike and Spell Caster Splinter, they seem to have been VERY close to release and may have even made it to shelves in some places. There wer completed figures shown in some promotional pictures (I remember seeing them in the catalog for Farm and Fleet) But I never saw them in stores. Later though I did find some Canadian carded figures that also showed Knight Mike and Splinter on the backs. So they might have made it to shelves up north or overseas.

I have Dwarf Don... he came with this little comic book. I was always dissapointed I couldn't find the rest of the figures (with the continuation of the comic). Well, now I know why I couldn't find them.

Yeah, that's the one. I never knew his name until I read the first post in this thread. I just always wanted one.

They never mentioned his name in the show, but I heard it was mentioned in the video game. They made traag, I wondered why they never made graintor. HE is grey, not blue.

There were the Cyber Samurai figures and the Turtle in a Turtle playsets (which is the mike playset you are refering to. But there was another series of cyber armor TMNT figures that were planned that were more streamlined.

It's a real shame that Playmates didn't have there heads on straight. I mean, come on; there was plenty of characters to make action figures out of, but instead, Playmates made a bunch of variations of a select few of characters. Half of these variation action figures were too silly and just plain stupid. And to top it off, Playmates made a couple of action figures based on characters that they made up! How messed up is all this!?

I'm really hoping that Playmates steers clear from making those same dumba$$ mistakes with the new TMNT.

I would have liked Jagwar, Dreadmon, Stump&Sling, Trap, and Bellybomb
