Is the next mutation dvd...

Is it able to play on PC dvds in america? Even though the disc will be region 2, I thought I heard that PC DVDs can play both. If not, is there a way to get a DVD player that plays both region one and two stuff?

Not all PC-DVD drives can read discs from other regions. Some have no region encoding built in, some have un-flashable region 1 firmware, and others have allow you to flash the firmware to make it regionless. Even if your drive is regionless, or you flashed the firmware, you will still run into the Windows built in region protection, but you can get a program called Region Killer at www.divx-digest.com and it will cancel windows region protection. You can get some fairly cheap region free pal/ntsc dvd players at ww.j-list.com.

I hope this answers your questions. Let me know if you need help.

Um.. Ok...

It depends on your DVD Player, you can buy region free DVD players so maybe you should look in to that.

Well here's what i found about my DVD combo drive. I looked into hardware profiles and found out I can only change my region 4 times! how retarded is that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So sure, I can get the TNM DVD, watch it 3 times and return back to USA region and then I'm screwed out of a DVD...
I want to at least be able to judge how bad it really was! HAHA!

that's dumb!

I need a PAL friendly DVD! stupid thingy...

that link for the region killer didnt work

eeh never mind i got it....installed..... now i need a PAL DVD....
does this just make the thing ignore the region setting? I don't have to go in there and change it all the time? It'll just bypass the countdown thing? uhh i aint no computer expert!
You'd think on a laptop there wouldn't BE a 4x region restriction thing like that, what are travelers supposed to do after they use up the 4 times! how stupid!

You could always rip the DVD...

The program I use on my Mac to rip my DVDs, "Mactheripper", has an option to remove the region coding. Then instead of watching straight from the DVDs, you can just watch them right off of your HD.

You have to make sure the thing is enabled. It should be a little "globe" icon down in your task bar. If it is red, it isnt enabled. It should be blue and green. If you right click on it, you should be able to choose automatic region, which allows it to detect the region of the disc.

It will indeed work on a DVD drive. Although I think you'll have a much easier time if you buy either a mod chip for PS2/X-box or the new gameshark that allows you to watch import DVDs along with the cheats and such.

The problem with the PS2 though is it still can't do PAL. You may be able to watch Japanese region 2 DVDs, but not European region 2.

You can with a mod chip. Although I don't know about the gameshark. With most PS1 games there are gameshark codes you can enter to fix most of the incompatibilities. Although it never got me past Now Loading in MegaMan PAL PSX.
