I feel bad about asking this but....

Am I the only one here who doesn't like the old toon at all? I got my hands on a couple of tapes of the old toon thanks to my british buddy, I was real excited and watched it as soon as I got home but I didn't like it. I loved it as a kid but I'm 17 now. I was really disappointed and tried to like it but I just couldn't. Even if I hadn't seen the movies or the new show I'm positive I still would have disliked the old toon, it seemed too goofy and I don't like shows like that anymore. Am I the only one who feels this way? Please don't flame me!

Some episodes are downright silly, but still, some eps are really good.

This might sound ridiculous(and it is) but there is some rule here where you can't say you didn't like the old cartoon.

I love it, though. It brings me back to my childhood, and it is just a great cartoon anyway.

I think your definatly not the only one to feel this way, though. Most people prefer the new cartoon over the old.

That's not the rule, pal. You can't bash the old toon; such as "it sucks and the new one is way better" But saying you don't like the old toon isn't bashing.

I think your a little too young to appreciate the old series.; that's all.
The fans who really grew up with the first wave of turtlemania are between 19 to 29, so I wouldn't expect you to have much fond memeries of back then. It's no big deal really. At least the young, new crowd gets to aknowledge and appreciate the turtles through the new second wave that we're in now, so it's all good.

Hey guess what? I don't care for the old toon, and it's what made me a tiny bit of a fan but the movie made me a BIG fan...especially of a certain guy in red...anyways the old toon...it's so freakin CORNY!!!!!!!! BUt..for what it is, the kiddie style it's done in...it's ok. My kid loves it. That's fine. I love the new toon so much more...

Lots of people say the same thing about the old cartoon. People change as they get older. I know I was hooked on the old show as a kid, but now, it just doesn't hold me the same way it once did.

It's funny, everyone on this forum likes the new toon better and says the old toon was crap and everyone I know in real life thinks the opposite. Personally, I love the old toon more than any other TMNT universe. Yes more than the movies, new toon, mirage, etc. Personally I like it best because I like humorous shows better than action. I think the old toon is hilarious and it gives me a lot of joy watching it. The new toon has good action in it and I enjoy the comedy in it but there are aspects I don't like. One of them being that the turtles never have a defined skill. There was the Shredder Strikes where the turtles absolutely annihilate the foot and basically just laugh it off that they're so pathetic. Then comes the Shredder Strikes Back part 2 where you would think the turtles would be equal in skill and all of them get uttely owned by the foot soldiers. Same thing in Return to New York, the turtles struggle against the foot when it's the same guys they've been fighting all along with maybe slightly better skills with the time they were gone from New York. Then there was the foot tech ninjas. In their first appearance the turtles struggle a bit but conquer them still pretty easily. Their 2nd appearance in Shredder Strikes Back, Leo struggles because he can't see them but then relies on his ears and takes them out with ease. Then comes Return to New York part 1 where the turtles and Splinter get destroyed by them. They stood no chance what so ever against them and luckily managed to short circuit them with Donatello's ninja stars. Is it just me or is that a little hard to believe? The turtles had no real skill in the old series but the series did what is meant to do. It was very funny and stood up to that in nearly every episode. I mean with the new series I guess it's exciting when the turtles struggle but I just find it boring when it clear the turtle's skills are heavily watered down to do this. Plus I'm not much of a fan of the utrom Shredder thing. I'm sorry there is 0% chance he could've survived the utrom's building imploding. For those of you think he somehow managed to escape, he wouldn't have needed to have the worms heal him if he had managed to find a way out at the last second. So in closing it just varies how you like a show. If you prefer humor then you like the old series, if you like action you like the new series/mirage/1st movie. There are people I know who actually hate the new toon and I know people who hate the old toon as well. It's all a matter of opinion. Why we have to have another discussion about this is unknown to me. I think it was best put by Karpo. (This isn't exact) "Asking what you would like best from the old show in the new show is like saying what you would like from the 60s Batman show in the newer movies." They're based on different time periods and different tastes, if you don't like one of them that's your opinion and it should be respected. However, dissing the old series/new series and other people who think it to be better is just wrong.

honestly I think that the new toon is better in terms of better animation, and character design. The new show also has a darker edge to it compared to the old show, which I like a lot. When it comes down to it though I grew up with the old TMNT toon, and I am loyal to it.

If you don't like it, don't moan and whine about how "bad" it is to fans who know better

Both the original series and the new Ninja Turtles cartoon are equally good.

I like the old better although besides the first season I havent seen any forever. Im waiting for the realease of all the old episodes so I can finally see them all again. Also, at first I reall y didnt care for the new cartoon and I started watching it again and now it seems pretty decent. Too bad I missed a crap load of them. They should release the old ones on the cartoon network or something.

Whao, dude, get out of the cave. Where have you been?

Do you have the first season of the 80s toon on DVD? Did you know that Arista plans on releasing the rest?

Also, go buy the new toon on DVD and catch up.

I'll always like the old cartoon, I mean I grew up with it. I'll admit it's corny but it still manages to make me laugh. But I really enjoy the new toon also.

Oh yeah, RATKING. You know how businesses are. They see that the TMNT are coming back so they're gonna cash in as much as they can. And you know that if they don't release them that they'll be petitioned to anyway. Either way it's inevitable.
