Greetings to the new Forums!

I thought that since its a new beginning, I thought we oughta have a fresh new Cafe!

Not only is it bigger and up-to-date, but now there's more room and couches for Everyone!

*the lights are dimmed. couches stretch out across the room. Along one wall, sits the bar, and adjacent to it is the food section. At another wall is a display of pictures from previous gatherings and happy times. On another walls is a variety of dartboards, ninja star boards and a doorway to shootings ranges. Perfect thing for putting those pictures of that "special someone" on for target practice*

So yeah... if you seem to be having a rough time, whether its work, school, family, whatever... stop on in. We're friendly, and open 24-7. The forums are for an escape from reality. but when you need someone to vent to, this is the perfect place for ya. ;)

I'm your hostess, we have plenty of servers to help you, grab a seat, enjoy the music and have a good time... :)

*sits on a couch, and starts looking for cheap places to live*

So yeah, after a much bigger then normal fight with my mom over the current living situation, I've been semi kicked out of the house.

For those of you who don't know, I've been working full time to support my mom who has a nurological disease (Firbromyaliga) who's trying to get her nail buisness running. I give her all but, oh, 50 bucks of my paycheck (if I'm lucky), to pay bills. I've been paying for the gas, electric, water, cable, phone, internet, and groceries for about 7 1/2 months now, while she's turned down job after job.

So, if I suddenly disappear from the boards, that's why. I'm going to start saving as much as I can, to hopefuly get myself a cheap cheap computer (dell has some real low end models i could pry afford, but that'd be down the road a bit).

I'll try to keep you all updated. Any budget advice?

Hey my mother has that too... she is suffering from Advanced Stages of it, as well as a few other health problems, and I'm taking care of her too :o

See, what pisses me off is she can still function. There's no reason she can't go work a desk job, or even telemarketing. It woulden't bother me so much if I wasn't trying to save up for school, and if it looked like she was putting some effort in to getting out of the hole we're in, ya know?

I'm jealous, too. I need a roomate. I'd LOVE to get my own place. But my only friend who'd go for it is perfectly content just living with her parent, not paying for ANYthing. I love my parents, yes... But I wanna get my own place.

Well, my grandfather's in the emergency room again right now. Second time TODAY. *sigh* I hope he comes home tonight...

My guy's off on a trip for work... So I'm all alone right now.

I always feel like a baby when someone I know moves out, some of them even younger than me. It's just that I can't afford it and even if I could... it's so comfortable at home!
But I'll move out before I hit 25! Promise.

Jo - I hope he gets better. My grandpa was having some problems with his pace maker a couple months back, and he had shingels, or what ever it's called. It sucks when you don't know if they're gonna be okay though.

Barkworm - Dude... if I can afford it on fast food pay, I'm sure you can swing it somehow. Then again, if you don't have to pay for anything at home, more power to ya ;).

TMB - It should be fun. I'll getta play more games at least. Not sure about the LAN (really, what'd be the point?) but it's nice to know there's always that option.

Jo Dawn

I hope he's okay, too. He had shingles earlier this yar, too. He's still in the hospital. He's had a nosebleed all day, and because of his blood thinners, they can't stop it.

Barkworm - I know how you feel. All these younger kids moving out, and here I am, 25, and still at home. I work TWO jobs, almost every day of the week and I STILL can't afford it. *kicks rock*

Hey, just so you know, I'm 26, turning 27 this year on August 27 and I still live at home, too! Both my sister and I do, and she'll be 29 November 6! It's too damn expensive to live in CA, especially with the salaries we make. Our mom pulls in the bulk of the money and we tie up the lose ends. I'm very sad to hear about your grandfather, Jo, and hope he gets a speedy recovery. Hospitals are no fun to be in, this I know for a fact!

The latest bummer news came from other families that I know of. One manager at my work lost her brother in a terrible motorcycle accident on December 18. He was recuperating from a previous accident and couldn't ride on city streets. He could, however, ride on dirt roads. He never saw the barb wire stretched across the way and ran into it...um...more like it decapitated him! I felt so bad for her, I decided to give $20 as a donation for the funeral costs.

On top of that, I came home from work this evening to hear even more bad news from my sister's old high school bud, Toni. This poor girl has had it rough with losing friends, including her boyfriend Mike who died in a major car accident with four other friends. Tonight, however, was just so terrible, I still can't believe it. A friend of hers named Chris had just turned 24 the day after Christmas. Last night, or January 1st, he was working late at his job and went to go throw out the trash in the back alley. No biggie, right? When he got outside, he saw a man trying to dispose of a body he had just killed! The guy caught sight of Chris and shot him, killing him instantly! Then, get this. The guy takes off in his car and goes through a drive-thru to get something to eat. While at the drive-thru, he's so guilty for killing two people in one night, he shoots himself in the car! My sister is in tears relaying this story and I'm standing there, still in uniform, with this horrific expression on my face. Toni isn't just her friend, she's mine, too, in fact I talk to her a lot in AIM with all my real life problems. She's a very spiritual person full of many words of wisdom, ones that council me in my deepest of depressions. However, after losing yet another friend, she told my sister she may need to start talking to someone professionally!

Right now, I've been getting torn up inside over other things, but after hearing that incident, I can't do much but sit here and just stare in shock. It really makes you realize how life is so precious, and how easy it can be taken away. :(

Just went to the hospital for some testing. I was recently diagnosed with IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome). In other words, my lower stomach area hurts out of nowhere for almost no reason at all. They did an endoscopy and an colinoscopy. Basically, they shove a camera down your throat and up your ass, to check for abnormalities. The procedure went well, and I didn't even know I had the procedure, due to the anesthetic. I woke up all woozy and disoriented. It was sweet. Thankfully, it looks like nothing was wrong with me. I just have the typical IBS, and I'll carry it with me for the rest of my life. Oh well. There's people who have worse out there, and I'm thankful mine isn't that serious.

Brinatello
01-04-2005, 02:59 PM
My aunt, who's a nurse, has IBS as well, and so does my cousin's ex-wife. It's nothing serious, you just have to be very careful with what you eat. I've been known to eat whatever sounds good and pay the price later on. I don't think I have IBS, but then again, I've never been examined that way. Take it easy there, k?

Brinatello
01-04-2005, 10:29 PM
Hey, real quick, my sister talked to Toni and found out she was a bit wrong with how Chris died. In fact, it's much worse. Here's what happened: "Chris was behind the counter..the gunman came in the store..shot him..left..shot a bum while digging through the trash (he lived), went to a random house, tried to break in..shot the resident (who lived). went BACK to the store..shot Chris again, this time in the face! Left, called police..turned himself in..when the cops got there he baracaded himself in the car..shot himself..and was considered "death imminent" status..I say worse because I know where he got shot and that is not the way that Chris deserved to go out.." The newspapers read, "Murder at Porn Shop" which pissed off Toni! She wants to write a letter to the editor and say how politically incorrect the title is and how insensitive it is to the family and gives readers a negative impression on a TRAGEDY.

Dude...it'll go off and on. Seriously, you're still a kid. You'll probably feel that way about a bunch of girls. I know I have, but if something goes wrong, meh. Who cares. It means it wasn't right, usually because I'm an asshole, but that's not the point. If something does go wrong, don't let it get you down too much. If sh*t is meant to happen it will. If it's not it won't. That's the way life is.

Mine was 5, and the break up was over something ridiculous. It just happens. Since then I've had a bunch of girlfriends, but they haven't lasted very long. 3 months being the longest, and behind that less than 3 weeks. Today's looking to be one of the better days I've had in years, so allow me a moment to bask in it.

I just found out (after stumbling out of bed for a midnight pee) that my husband's getting promoted today to Staff SGT, which means [slightly] better hours and a [marginally] more padded income. I'm getting [sexy] new glasses today, after nearly four solid years of procrastination. And the car I bought way back in September (Mini Cooper S, in which I'll be installing a flux capacitor for the f*ck of it) has finally left its factory in England and is ready for shipping.

Life's been dealing crappy hands lately, so even minor triumphs like this can mean the difference between "Same day, different sh*t" and "0MGWTFBBQCL0UDN1N3!"

*Sits on couch & mixes Sake and vodka then pours in a bottle of Asprin and ponders weither to swallow*

This day has fu*king sucked. I sit here day after day watching this fricking excuse for a family fight and drag me into it. Allow me to shead some light on the situation. Life is hell. My dad had a stroke a few years ago and just likes to blow up on anything and anyone in the area. He also likes to trash people's things, so I had to install a deadbolt on my room. As long as I keep it locked, no problem. But now he aggravates my little sister for the hell of it. He sees it as playing, she sees it as torture.

Now they get the idea that kicking me outside is a good way to make me agree with they're opinions. Keep in mind it's about 26 degrees right now. Fu*k this. The moment I possibly can, I'm outta this hell. I pity my sister who's stuck here for at least another 7 years. *sigh*

Simple sentence. Family sucks.

If I may make a suggestion. Take your sister with you when you leave, seems to be best for her. Plus you can then split the chores (there are more than you'd think). And as soon as she earns money she can help you with the rent.

All that'd do in the US is get me arrested. My parents wouldn't do it, but the moment we were reported missing, I'd be labeled by the police as a child kidnapper. The US law system sucks.

Sadly that's true. I know what you're going through, kinda, TMB. My dad was the same way, so I no longer speak to him. Infact, I hear he's been laid off from his job of 30+ years. I was thrilled when I got that news. Anyway, back to you.

Is there anyone you could move out with? I know it's the only way I can afford to leave home. Give it a try. You might have to cut back your videogame spending, but for what you'll get it's worth it.

Not if you do a little intrigue. You have already signed a contract for a flat, for you and your sister. She also signed (that's the important part, so she states that she's okay living with you). Then you just get her into a fight with your parents, she screams that she'll move out (bags already packed) and then voilà, she gives your parents a phone call that she's with you. End of story.

Oh yeah, it probably would be best if your parents lived more than an hour or so away.

Why dows everything need to be so complicated these days. The moment you wake up you're supposed to be a criminal for... for... ah, they'll come with something in time.

Honestly, I don't buy that much nowadays. I already have all the old stuff I want, and I know when the major releases are this year, and they're rather spread out.

The only problem is, the only "very good" friend I know outside the web lives about 400 miles from here. He's moving out in a year or so. Perhaps I'll try around then (gotta get in College to learn how to be a writer and programmer sometime around there).

Apply for Digipen. My friend who goes there says they love giving out student loans, and there's always people looking for roomates. Plus you get a discount at the Nintendo store, along with going to a school designed to teach you how to make games that's funded by Nintendo (and located above NOA's offices as well). It's also not very difficult to get in there, but it IS a lot of work. A LOT.

I live a good bit west of Kaiserslautern, which is actually just a big ol' city mostly void of any military bases. I'm on an Army run installation, though its primarily just housing and a big ass hospital. The Army and Marines call the pay grade of E-6 Staff SGT, while the Air Force calls it Tech SGT. Go figure. Growing up an Officer's daughter, I always thought the AF Enlisted ranking system was a bit wonky anyway.

TMB: Sounds like you're going through all manner of hell. If you're up to the responsibility, when you move out, consider applying for legal guardianship over your sister. All the paperwork required for the process is handled by the Probate Division of your local County Court Clerk's office, so it may not be as complicated as one would think. Best of luck, dude.

I met my father today... I am disappointed. Very disappointed.

He first wanted to do something with me and my brother for christmas. That was impossible since we already had appointments. Family stuff. Well, today I met him. We went to have pizza. Pizza is a good thing.

But what has become of the person I once called "my hero"? What has happened during the last six years? What is wrong with him? He seemed to be apologizing for everything. First for his new car (http://www.evo-sportstyling.de/pics/cars/vw/VW%20Bora%20mit%2018%20Zoll%20Avalanche.jpg) (just substract the rims). Well, then he started talking about his life without us. How he still feels his head injury (he once broke his neck but survived). He never did that before. Where went all his strength that people tell I have too. Where is his strong will? He seemed so weak and pale. Not exactly old, but tired. And his voice... no energy in it.

I am deeply disappoited. This, my friends, is one of the moments I could cry. I really could. For one, I think it's a shame that the father I knew is gone (even characterwise, he wouldn't even put up a good fight) and for the other that I don't want to become what he is today.

Is there more to his injury than he let on? A person dosen't just change for no reason. Any ideas what could have sparked such a transformation? Maybe you should talk to your dad, let him know that you're worried about him and lack of energy and his sudden change in persona. Offer him your ear. If he needs to get some things off his cheast, let it happen. If your father's not himself for some reason, maybe you can help him find himself again. Hope this helps, if not just ignore it. :) I'm sure the man u called your hero is there, maybe he just feels that he can be more open with you now that you're both a little older.

I know exactly how you feel, Anarky, because the same thing happened to my sister and I. We went for a very long time not seeing our dad and Thanksgiving 2002, we went over to his legal guardians house in Bonita to visit him and his family. When I saw him, I nearly flipped out. He's the same age as my mom, but, his hair was salt and pepper, his face very ashen, his eyes a little sunken in and he slurred a little when he talked. We came home and I burst into tears, telling Mom that this was not the same man I knew while growing up. The last time I saw him was June, 2004, when I spent a night at his place before he drove me to Lindbergh Field the next day for the AnimeNEXT convention. I'm used to his looks now, but the first time was very hard to accept. Hope you hang in there, kiddo. That's what I'm doing.

God man, that is horrible. I'm sorry it work out so badly. I kinda have a similar situation. I don't wan't to become what my family is either. It's a mindset. You have to work to engrain the ideals you want to believe in your mind and keep them there. It's hard at the begenning, but eventually it becomes habbit. Anyone can be the person they want to be if they try hard enough.

I'm sorry to hear that, Anarky. I wish I knew what to say, but I don't. Just talk to your father. Maybe he feels depressed, I don't know... :ohwell:

Keep your head up, bro. :)

On a lighter note, I got my first job in 3 years. 8) I'm a busboy at a barbecue restaurant, but it's a job nonetheless. So, I'm very excited about that.

Plus, I'm off financial probation, so I might be able to go back to college.

Things seem to finally be turning around for the better. :D

We'll see what happens the first 3 weeks.

Wish me luck. ;)

I just heard some bad news tonight. At 5:30 this evening, my family (aunt, uncle and cousin) went to the local veternarian to put their dog, Brandy, to sleep. It was time. She was only getting worse each day and judging by her symptoms, she probably had cancer. I feel so bad for my family. I've known that dog since I was about 8 or 9 years old. At least she's no longer hurting...

Hopefuly you'll come to a decision... Is it a sort of reunion thing? I'd go, but that's just what I'd do.

I need some advice from someone... I have NO idea what to study in college. I need to get enrolled, but that's kinda hard when I don't know what I wanna do. Here's what I've come up with so far:
1) Teach. I think I'd be good at this, but I don't know how I'd handle being in a school for the rest of my working life.
2) Graphic designer. I like art, a lot, and I like to think I'm decent at it. The problem? I can't really do art when I'm forced to. Pry not a good idea, but it's an idea.
3) Programmer. I'd turn this in to a career in the videogame industry. I enjoyed learning BASIC in highschool, and I'm starting to learn C++. I like it, but it takes a LOT of math.

Sweetie, just from the way you describe your choices, I'd say be a Programmer.

From reading your descriptions, I got a 'eh' feeling from the first two; you used words like: 'I think', and general doubt when it comes to them. When you got the the 'Programmer' option, you immediately had a career choice. 'Video Game Industry'.

You're obviously more empassioned with that. Go for it.

I recommend that you do an open option....this means that you can take classes from numerous departments then you can figure out what you would like to do.

I did not do open option because I knew what I would like to do.....water quality. Now, I am going into teaching science....I can probably teach general science, life science, and earth science.

In terms of the reunion thing, it will be very expensive (airline travel, hotel, and dog-sitting).

I forgot what that's called, but it sounds similiar to the open option deal. I'd take graphic designer because art is a large chunk of my life and I also use it on graphic programs. Community colleges can help you get some required courses out of the way. Even though I was a biology major, I was required to take literature, art history, and music history courses. Universities want to make sure that the graduate is well-rounded when they get out of college.

Wow, Hannah. That's one hell of a chatroom. I say to avoid conversations with those people in a group for a while. Try talking to them one at a time. Maybe if you could explain how you feel without so much going on, things might get better between you and your friends. That's up to you, though. Harsh words like that do manage to cut deep sometimes, and it makes you feel rotten.

All I can say is to just stay away from a large group and try having one-on-one conversations if you want to patch things up. Now I know you might think, "Well, it's their fault. So if they want things to get better then they should make the first move." But if you take that first step, it shows maturity and responsibility. If they want nothing to do with you, then that's the right time to say, "Screw 'em." and leave. True friends listen, no matter how many bad words or feelings are shown and tossed around.

I managed to consume the better part of a bottle of Ramazzotti (Italian herbal tonic liquor) and finally found out what sort of drunk I am on the night before last. Some people are loud drunks, flirty drunks, violent drunks... I cry about puppies when I'm drunk.

It was adorable, pitiful and hilarious at the same time. I seriously need to get a dog.

Awww, you shouldn't show me a puppy when I'm drunk either. I get all melancholic and "Oh my god, is that thing cute... and look at its paws".

But usually I'm like "Did I ever tell you that you're an idio?" - "No" - "Oh, well then, you're an idiot" an then I fall down the stairs, hit my head on the cigarette vending machine and get up and, oh wonder, I'm not hurt. "HAHAHA! That's hilarious, I almost killed myself. WAHAHA! Great fun!"

*sits down with a mudslide (without microwaving the booze out like the guilt-ridden idiot I am... )*

You know when you have those day's where you just ask yourself, "Why do I bother dealing with all of this?" Well, I've been having it for the past couple weeks. But its nothing at home....

I"m just... I dunno. Online life is just making me depressed. Worrying about who's talking to who, who's friends and who's not. Trying to do stuff without offending someone... I'm so tired of it.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE talking to people on here. Its (usually) my escape from the real world, where I can just relax and talk to people. But things have been hanging over me a bunch as of late..

I've seriously considered removing EVERYthing of mine online. My art, stories, Everything. I've had times where I've considered leaving all the forums I visit (that week was hell).

I dunno... I guess Its just hard seeing my havens becoming the thing I've been trying to escape. The social dramas and soap operas up here make me want to move away from society and be a hermit. But then I came online, and it was great!

I remember someone once saying, "You cant be nice-nice ALL the time". I guess they were right. I mean, I try not to get upset at stuff-- I just shrug it off. But there's times... and I can't realy talk to anyone about it. I"m the one for people to lean on, not the other way around. I mean, even writing THIS was hard. I'm just not one to ask for help; I give it. I've helped lots of people out, both on here and elsewhere. But when its me that needs help... I've always been on my own, emotionally. I"m not into pity-party BS, so don't think this Is one. I just wish that things could be like they used to be... it was so much easier then...

*sighs, sinking into the couch with her drink*

I actually feel better, now that I've gotten this off my chest. I just hope people aren't thinking I'm selfish or some **** now...

Anarky
01-26-2005, 01:11 PM
Machi, you know, there is a lot of tension aroung when people come close. I have had a coworker (cute little thing) who always wanted to get away from the place she works and lives (some twon with about 3000 inhabitants). I think she still wants to go somewhere where nobody knows her. She is depressive. I tried to keep her from that.

So, from that I say:

And here, on the Drome, I have never seen such a tight community. And wherever people are close, there is this sort of emotional thing involved. There will be tension. I sometimes get annoyed by all of this too, but then I just can't get away from here.

And you're not selfish or anything, that's normal. I know this feeling. And I'm giving you the same advice I gave my former coworker:

Do what you want to do. Don't let yourself be sort of prisoned by things you "must" do. There's only one thing you must do and that is dying. You only live once and then it's over. Enjoy it while you can.

EDIT: And you know how to reach me, I'll be there... if you want to talk about it, that is.

Aww, Machi. Believe me when I tell you that I know just how you feel. Even the strongest... the toughest among us have those days, those weeks, those months. And, it took me a long time to realize that it's NOT selfish to feel that way and talk about it. It's not. You're not selfish for doing so. Good for you, actually, for being strong enough to.

As for the online bit? Yeah, I get you there, too. You know that I was having those exact thoughts a month or so ago, on the GD forums. It's NOT the same. I, too, tire of some of the things you mention. I recognize those words you used. I made a post like it awhile back (for which I was quite commented about, if I remember correctly. ;) ) But anyway... you're right. I said, if it came to either this or real life, well... I have more than enough stress in real life to deal with, as you well know.

Anyway, Machi, know that I understand. And that I'm here for you. It was tough for a stubborn girl like me to be able to finally talk about things... (and now you cant shut me up!!) 'cause I know it helps. Talk to me, babe. I'm here for ya. :)

I'd join ya for a drink, but I'm trying to lay off the alcohol for a month or so... So I'll take the virgin strawberry daquiri...

I've seriously considered removing EVERYthing of mine online. My art, stories, Everything. I've had times where I've considered leaving all the forums I visit (that week was hell)The problem I've often had with those feelings, and this is true, is patience. I'm impatient when it comes to expecting feedback on things I've worked on, whether it be art, fics, or a topic I stressed over creating to perfection. When I get nothing in return, I want to stop everything and remove it all, and then I want to quit going to message boards because I feel as if no one gives a damn about what I say or do. I've had those moments, I really have. And then I say, "Whatever" and then I'm back to my usual self! Or unusual self, whichever people look at me as. :P

I just recently signed up to two new groups non-TMNT related, SDParanormal at Yahoo! Groups and The Whaley House Message Board. After my trip to Old Town on January 29 and going on the Ghosts and Gravestones Tour for the first time, it made my interest in the paranormal world much stronger than ever! Not kidding! I've had an interest as far back as a child, but after that night, I've been trying to contact others and get to know more people involved with that sort of thing. Now, here's the downer. At the two places I've said "Hi, I'm new!" no one greeted me. I've gone back many times to see and I've so far been treated like...excuse the pun...a ghost! That's very upsetting when I hold such a high regard to that subject, and it makes me wonder if I even belong to groups like that. But, again, I'm not being patient with them and I should wait to see if they'll respond. I think what gets to me, though, is that people have come on, and POSTED, and totally ignore my post!

It's also going on right now at Mikey's Forum. I created a topic about The Ghosts and Gravestones Tour and got about 9 Views, 0 Replies! Should be patient, should be very patient! But, hey, when your patience wears thin, then what?

Okay, I've said too much now. Pass me a beer, will ya? Oops, can't have alcohol yet...make it a Dr. Pepper! I'll drive. :)

Okay, so I've come to two conclusions: I've either just developed a super power that I've not yet been able to harness, or the Gods of static electricity are trying to smite me once and for all.

Every time I touch a door, brush up against a wall, kiss my husband on the lips, do anything that involves contact with another object, MOTHERF*CKING-KA-ZAP! Because its winter and the air's so dry, I know there's an inherent risk of shocking myself and I've taken measures against it, like getting a humidifier and wearing leather-soled shoes. But I'm still shocking myself roughly 50-100 times a day. So much so that my husband has stopped asking "What?" when he hears a hissed "SON OF A BITCH!" echo out from the kitchen.

Is anyone else suffering from this grave affliction?

Anarky

I had that "shock disease" for a while. Last winter, around February/March. But only in the office, whenever touched something, then I got electrified.

I still don't know why though.

I notice when it's really dry outside, it'll cause a lot of friction to everything you touch. For example, Mom pulled up to a 7-11 on Saturday to buy a lottery ticket and as she closed the door, she got zapped. I used to do it deliberately in school by shuffling my feet around the carpet and then touching the metal rim of the blackboard. Yes! I'm weird! :P

Well, I took this test at a website named Liquid Generation and I found out why. It appears I do have an affinity for metallic taste.

damnhooligan... I'm with ya. I'm always getting shocked by something, heh. Even multiple times. The other day, at work, I had to put somebags under the counter, and, added with my already static-ness... I hit the electric thingymabob underneath it, and got shocked so bad, the computer that's attached to it beeped, like I'd rebooted it.

I was wondering...

Has anyone ever said something that was rude and thoughtless to your best friend that caused the friendship to die?...

Anarky
02-08-2005, 01:02 PM
I sort of don't get along with his girlfriend at all. That enough? And when he asked me what I honestly think of her I was honest...

The friendship isn't dead, it's starting to die. I sort of stopped caring for him, I don't want to see him anymore, I don't miss him when I go out... he's just becoming one of those "guys I used to know".

I feel for you, buddy. That guy was like a brother to me for over 10 years. Being almost twenty that's an awful lot of time. It's not like it hurts or it isn't as bad as I expected. It's just that big feeling of indifference... odd. That might be the best word. Odd.

Am I allowed to ask, what you said?

Aw, shucks. But if it's a her, then you might have the bonus of the famous moodyness of women. I mean, when she calmed down, then she's hopefully going to see the world with other eyes. Whenever I have fights with my "sister" then we fight like hell, then we go our own ways, but the next day, we sort of feel this "This is silly. A hug would be way cooler"-thing. So then we sort of get all emotional, really cheesy and then we tell each other how it wasn't meant that way, and that we were plain mean.

Women are difficult in that way. They are getting upset over things we don't even realize that they possibly could get upset.

My best piece of advice (I don't care whether you want it or not, here it comes :D ) is, that you should, according to me, give it a little time. Then call her and meet her. There you apologise. But: Don't do it on the phone.

Ryona

Yes, I know. SOmetimes it was my fault too. I mean, people see things differently when they had a break form the person they had to argue with. That's what always sort of helped me too. Getting a distance. Just a little.

I'm not sure much of what I can say here...

*shifts a bit*

I'm gonna be realistic here, and you may not wanna hear all that I'm gonna say. So, sorry. But...

Apologising may help. May. Or, well, maybe... not.

*big breath* Okay. Here's my hesitation with the subject. My guy, had a fight with a friend of his that was a girl, a few years ago now. They were friends, I think he said, for 20 years or so. Most of his life, he said. Anyway, it was his fault, he said. He knows that now. But they don't talk anymore, even though it was all fully admitted who was at fault. It hurt him real bad. It's... one of the reason's... well.... *ahem* I... really... don't wanna get into this.

*clears throat* Anyway, Ryo... if I may ask... and you don't have to answer this... Did... were you two a bit more than friends? I always had my suspicions with... well...

Look, as a woman (and, trust me guys... y'all are JUST as moody as we are sometimes. Trust me. ;) ) I say apologise. Give it time to heal. Time is your friend here. Other than that, Ryo... I can offer you my shoulder, and my hugs.

I truly hope that it all works out for you.

Everyone gets grouchy now and then. And sometimes we can't help but take it out on others. I guess the only thing you can do is find a way to meet her somehow and apologize. I'm sure she'll notice you're sincerely sorry.

Try to look on the bright side, maybe after this you two'll be even closer than before.

Ryo, knowing the way you approach things and deal with people, I'll say this: One incident does not determine the entire makeup of one person. Being friends for so long just to let this mistake ruin it is a ludicrous idea. Harsh words get thrown all the time between two or more people who've developed a bond as strong as to classify as a friendship. I think the whole reason this is happening is most likely because she was shocked to hear you say whatever you said.

Given time, things will get better. Don't let any self-doubt creep into your mind. You're still a wonderful person with a wonderful outlook on life. A nice, quiet talk in a nice, quiet setting is a perfect way to end this fiasco.

Take care, and I hope that things smooth over for you.

It's just someone I want to get to know on a more friendship level, for example, maybe like email exchanges to start. Thing is, I met this person one time and know nothing about them, and the way they act, I don't think they'd be interested in the likes of me. *shakes head*, um, this is really hard, because I'm driving myself mad trying to figure this through. Ack!

Some of you know this, but I run Premier level tournaments and events for Pokemon USA for the Nebraska region. I'm all official... filled out a contract and such.

I've been running various TCG events at this one store for about 5 years now, and usually it all goes smooth. Well not anymore. See, I have to buy product from PUI to run my events. This usually means I take a small loss, but that's okay. I knew that going into it. But I TOTALLY over ordered my first event (by about 28 players >_>) and ended up owing WAY more then I could pay. So, the store offered to pick up that tab, on the condition that in the future they'd handle the finanaces to my tournaments. I was desperate, so I agreed.

Some background info: I became friends with one of their workers, and the guy who used to run Pokemon tournaments (waaaaaay back in 1999). Well, these two friends of mine were involved in some shady things there (taking single cards that had sat in books for months up to Omaha, selling them, and buying cards that would sell and brining them back for the store). An employee got word of this, told the then-manager, and was soon on his track to getting my friends fired and taking over all the tournaments for the store. As Pokemon started to fade in popularity, the dropped all support, and reduced leauge to a handful of people that showed up every week.

Fast forward to last spring. One of those five players becomes a Pokemon Professor, with another and myself soon following. We grow leauge up from those five players to a steady group of now 18 players each week. I live in a smallish city, so that's not to shabby. Hobbytown sees this growth, and support leauge more, which is great. I start weekly tournaments back up for a while, then trim it down to every now and then. Then the players want prereleases, and championship events..... so I apply to become a PTO. I get accepted, sign the contract, and just miss the first event i was able to hold. My first tournament was for the EX:FireRed and LeafGreen set. Like I said, I over ordered. I had heard about HUGE numbers at these prereleases, so I figured 40 players easily... I got 12 total.

Now, another prerelease and a city championship later, that first bill hasn't been paid. That was back in september. Then the bill for EX:Team Rocket Returns goes unpaid. I thought this had all been taken care of, until one day at leage my supervisor calls me up. "yeah, I saw you wanted to run a Deoxys prerelase... well, you can't get any product for it until we get payment." . Needless to say, I was shocked. I went up to the counter, and talked to the new manager and explaind the situation to him. "oh yeah, we'll get that taken care of tonight." He calls PUI up, gets the info, and tells me not to worry about it. That was over a month ago now, and the payment just supposedly went out on feb first. I got another bill 3 days ago, that shows it hasn't been paid. Well, there's proof that the check got sent, but nothing's been cashed yet.

My problem? It's been made clear to me that stuff like this can not happen again. PUI is furious, naturally, and the store's making me look bad. I brought this up to the manager tonight, and he got kinda snippy with me. So now I'm worried that if I DO take the money from players Sunday, we'll get kicked out of the store. I can't run an event without a venue. Thing is, I'm the one with the contract. I'm the one they can send lawyers after. I'm the one who's ass is on the line if this doesn't get cleared up. And it's frustrating me to no end, that's it all out of my control. I'm not really asking for a solution (although any help is VERY MUCH appreciated). I just needed to get this off my chest, and see what other people think about it. I think the store's trying to screw me over, honestly.

ThirdMarioBro
02-12-2005, 01:20 AM
Goddamn, so you're saying this store has got Nintendo pissed as all hell at you, is refusing to pay the bill even though they agreed to, and bitches at you if you bring it up? Damn. I honestly don't know what you're going to be able to do other than wind up paying the bill yourself again.

First of all, how much did all of this tally up to be? Second, I would contact PUI and see if they ever recieved any payment...if not, you'll probobly wind up having to pay off the tap or have them sick the lawyers on you.

I don't mean to sound cruel, but it really dosen't seem like they're is anything else you can do except hope that the assholes at Hobbyworld have a sense of morality which dosen't look to happen. Sorry man :(

02-12-2005, 01:22 AM

i guess i was trying to answer your question really. the first one... about why they did it.

thing is? when you're suicidal, you're NOT thinking straight. You're sick in the head. Logic SEEMS sound to you, but to the rest of us, we're not going to understand what you were thinking. To shake your head and say "kids these days" ... no... it's not a trend...those were very CONFUSED individuals.

hell... i can't make heads or tails of what the hell *I* was thinking during my more self-destructive periods... and i'm ME. Some one else? let alone someone healthy? is not going to understand it.

JD?
It doesn't help anything, but it wasn't just their lives. It wasn't something you could have done or undone or fixed. It was how they REACTED to their lives. Something was broken inside... and THEY thought it was normal... so they didn't look for help.

People who aren't looking for help? You can't blame anyone for that. Not their family, friends, teachers, yourself, or them. b/c until the troubled person saw there WAS a problem and had the strength to face it? there was nothing anyone on this earth could have done.

i hope you find balance again, and a better place to be emotionally... but know that just like the victim of any illness... they're not in pain now.

I have to disagree. Life can be very hard and I don't believe that the boy was a coward for what he did. I just hope that now, after all thats happened, he finds the peace he's been seeking.

Death, though we laugh about it and crack our jokes, is not really funny. I've seen what it does to people; it's not pretty. Especially in these cases, when its someone whose gone before their time. You need to have some respect for the dead.

My condolences.

Well, whether suicide is cowardice or not... Good question. I for myself could never kill myself. I have yet so many things to do, so many goals to achieve,...

But, I can imagine, that when you absolutely can't see the point in life, can't get a purpose, can't see what tomorrow could change, then I could imagine that someone kills him or herself.

Parts of my attitude towards this issue and my general feelings about being fine and never showing weakness can be found in my "Fine" column.

And JD: I feel for you. I really do, I knew quite a number of people who killed themselves or at least attempted to do so (and one that still should finish herself of in due time). It is hard, but time heals wounds. That's all I can say.

Well... he was a junior in high school.

...I'm not trying to understand. I know I never can. I know it'll, like the last boy, get better with time. No, I didn't know him well. But that doesn't matter. What I DO know, is that these kids in the school, who have had to go through this once already in a year, are hurt again, and they're not old enough to understand why.

Plus, the way he did it was horrifying. Completely horrifying... I don't even know if I can get over that.

Anarky... I could never kill myself either. I have too much to do. Too much I want to do.

...Tomorrow will be bad. My mom said that when they found out, you could hear the whole school sobbing. *sigh*

Oh, JD, that's really sad news. It's even more sad for his family members. I'll admit I've had suicide thoughts many times, but I've never been pushed all the way to doing 'the deed.' I just can't. Life is hard, sure, but I'm not ready to go anywhere, especially to a trip six feet under. I hope you can make it through the day tomorrow, JD. I know it's going to be really hard. :( *HUGS*

Well, life does suck, and losts of people think about suiscide from time to time (me included), but if you cave in and do it, you're just saying "You win, I quit" to the people giving you hell.

Oh, BTW, my family is giving me hell, using my room for a storage room, saying "you're not allowed to have a girlfriend unless we clear her first, and we believe you need to get over this video game thing, or at least limit yourself".

That's it, I'm starting saving now so I can move out. This sh*t has finally reached the breaking ponit. It might take a few months, but I'll do it.

Suicide has come to mind for me more than once. A few months ago I was even about to kill myself... I was getting the knife and everything. But then my mom knocked on my door saying the phone was for me, so I shoved the knife in a drawer and answered the phone. It was Shadow. Talking to him made me... not want to die. I felt so much happier talking to him.

What I'm getting at is that I noticed how much some people care for me. And I wish that those kids who passed away had reflected on the people who cared about them too before deciding their fate like that.

You work at a school, though, you say? Maybe you could organize a speech or something for the students about suicide?

Peanut

What the f*ck has the world come to when KIDS are even thinking about killing themselves? It pisses me off so bad that all this bullsh*t has become so wide spread. It seems like people just like to say they're going to kill themselves to have people notice them, it's f*cking ridiculous. Why the hell has everyone in the world become despressed about worthless ****?

Jo Dawn
02-17-2005, 06:16 PM
TMB - Good luck. :) I, too, am trying to find a place to live. (Though my home life is really good.) I just... well, I just like the solitude, heh. Nothing against my family. I love them dearly.

Hannah - Please, please know that suicide is never the answer. I'm so happy you're still okay, and that you realized that, yes, people DO care for you. More people care about us than it seems, doesn't it?

I know that these kids... weren't on their right minds doing this. You can't be, to do something like this. I wish they'd realized that it wasn't just their lives. Especially when Adam killed himself almost a year ago. I would have thought that this kid would have seen how it hurt everyone so much. Unfortunately, it more egged him on.

People need to realize that it's not just their lives. It's parents, and siblings, and friends, and aquaintances. Grandparents, aunts, uncles. Whole communities that have to deal with this now. *sigh*

As for organising something...I'm not really in any position at the school to do so. Though, that's really no excuse, if you think about it. That's an idea, really. I'll think on that. Someone should do something. *nods*

Either way... I must say that THIS place is a little community, and I know I'd be very hurt and saddened if anything happened to anyone here, too.

Peanut - Ya know, it IS sad. Anytime it happens. But especially for kids. Unfortunately, it's the world we live in now, as scary as that is. I can't put blame on any one person. We can't know the whole story. This kid, did leave a note. But I have to think that it's about not being able to talk about it, really. That's why talking about things is so important to me. It's why I think people SHOULD reach out for help. And why I'm always ready to listen. You never know when that one 'little thing' will be the last straw in someone's mind.

Ugh... it is depressing, Sis. I used to talk to this kid everyday in class the past two years when i took Spanish... and the worst part is; when i went to the high school after college yesterday to see how Cathy (like a lil sis to me) and everyone else were doing, a train went by and the students outside just looked at it, not looking away or moving their lips... just... thinking about what happened...

Tears streamed from my face as I thought of the extreme distance I had to walk to go and retrieve my space heater. I decided it wasn't worth it, and cried myself back to sleep instead. When I woke up, my tears were frozen on my face. It was a terrible morning.

Damn, man. That's tragic. Do you also get that trapped feeling when you're watching television and a program comes on that you loathe with every fiber of your being but the remote control is more than five feet away from you so you have to decide either to stretch your body to unknown lengths just to get that rectangular module of power or sit there and endure the vast torture of a show that you would rather go through a route canal for 97 minutes and 23 seconds than watching?

I think this thread should be about real problems, but you guys...I just don't understand why you people complain about stuff that isn't even a big deal. Sure, sometimes it's better to talk about it, but it should at least be traumatizing to a certain extent. Like the one person whose friend got shot at the supermarket. Now that was worth it. If any of you have a problem with the type of problems posted in this thread, why don't you try something new and not read it? Mocking people and trivializing their problems is only going to cause arguments, so what's the point? What are you accomplishing, other than making other people upset? That's just childish, and it's humiliating to know that people that I trusted enough to be moderators are participating in this type of behavior.

hey guys, Its me shadow. I've been gone from here for a long time.

I've graduated college, moved to chicago and then back again.
I have fallen in love and had my heart ripped open...I've had surgery on both of my feet.

None of that is in order. Now, I'm trying desperatly to not be depressed and not be lonley. I'm trying to not call the man I love, the man I was planning on marrying, because it "pushes him away and alienates him."

I'm so lost, and so lonley. I've decided to distract myself and join in the endless conversations going on here at the fourms.

I'm wondering though, how many of you have had your hearts broken, and what you do to get beyond it? How did you go about finding the willingness to meet new people? How approch it once you had the willingness?

Did you make a fool of yourself? calling all the time? crying all the time? How long did it take you before the hurt went away?

Any thoughts?

because i'm so far lost.

Jeez, sounds like you need a break from real life.

Having your heart broken always hurts. The two times I tried to involve myself with a guy, they turned around and treated me like ****. So, I told myself that they werent worth the time and stress. Ever since then, I have remained single and been content with it. I can concentrate on my collegework, and I dont have to worry about where my guy is or who he's hanging out with. Sometimes you Just have to wait until you start looking. Its never too late.

*hugs Shadow*
Don't worry, we're here for you...

Yeah, I really do need a break from real life.

I looked for the cafe thred, and I couldn't find it. lol. sorry. I'll look harder next time.

I wish I had school to pour into. The problem is, I really don't have anything in my real life to focus on. I'm done with school, looking for a job, waiting to get the cast of my leg off.

The funny thing is, this guy, He was the guy who swepted me off my feet when I was pouring myself into school, my dreams of working in theatre, all of that. He waltzed into my life, and ran right out and took my heart with it.

I had moved to chicago for a time, to work at a theatre. I wouldn't blame it on the distance, because we made time for it, and dealt with it. In the end, I guess I wasn't enough to keep him.

Thanks for the hugs.

Its always stickied at the top of the page... ;) Its ok..

Maybe you need to get into something to get your mind off of him. Have you considered Music or art? Those always can be applied to theatre and such. Even writing can help you get through rough times.
I've been keeping a journal all during this semester, and I have to say that it has Helped me tremendously with getting emotions and such off my chest. Even just writing ten minutes a day can really help you. I would definitely recommend it to you.

As for the guy.. college age guys can pretty jerky. As for you not being good enough for him, I highly doubt that. Its more often that I see the guys giving the girls a rough time and then dropping them like they were trash. Dont let him make you feel bad. Its hard, but you can get past him...

Jade Green

I've been burned pretty badly too. There was a man that I thought I loved and he dumped me in the worse way possible. Via AIM. He even had the audasity to call me a Lesbian. :x

I'll admit it now, I am a very tempermental person. If you rub me the wrong way, I'm likely to explode at you. I had always thought that, should I break up with that guy that I would cry or I'd try to kill him. Surprisingly, neither happened. I just had a cold feeling run up my spine and I suddenly felt... nothing.

The ex boyfriend, a guy by the name of Mike, worked in a coffee shop at the college where I was working on a play. On the drive up there, I began thinking about it and I convinced myself that not only is he a coward for not speaking to me face-to-face, but he was an idiot because he knew that what he had called me was untrue and would only incure my wrath and that of my friends.

Before Rehersal, I confronted him about it and I told him that this was his choice. He had lost me for good not only as a lover but as a friend. I also called him a coward, saying that I at least would have ahd the courage to say it to his face. After that, I walked out of there feeling a hell of a lot better.

Lesson learned.

No matter how much you love someone, it doesn't make that love mutual; and even if they DO love you, sometimes there are other things getting in the way. I hate to say it as much as I'm sure you don't want to read it but sometimes it's best to just walk away.

Well, here's one for you.

I have this deep thing for a girl. I've had one on her since I was 8 years old. I would've acted by now, but there's one major problem. Hell, she's hot, she's sweet, she's caring, she's smart, she's a gamer, has jugs the size of Kansas......and she's my best friend's sister. Yeah, so there ya go. It's been on my mind a lot lately, and I've never known what to really do. I'm pretty sure she has an idea that I like her, but I can't read her feelings, and if I say anything and she dosen't feel the same way, it would be awkward as hell. My whole family is friends with these people. My best friend is in this family, and he's been practically like a brother to me my whole life. I don't want to risk screwing anything up, but I don't want to miss an opportuinity I might regret. It's all confusing. Any thoughts?

Hey Shadow.

yeah, *BIG HUGS.*

i've been there babe. 3 Years and engaged. We went ring shopping together. then, the night of his birthday when i'd planned this huge, elaborate birthday party... he pulled me aside into a dorm room and broke it all off with me. 3 years. wedding. foosh. gone. ...then he said he was hungry and that i should pull myself together and get ready b/c we were all still going out.

...and yeah. i'd been having a bad time of things. So really? I can even now understand why he decided to walk... but that night Everyone was very nice to me. I'd made 3 cakes and everyone liked them... had reserved a classroom with stadium seating... found all these rare tapes of X-men stuffs... the cartoon? back way before they did the first movie. we did dinner and ran a private showing of the cartoons.

he sat with the other girl that he swore he didn't dump me for during the entire evening. ...2 days later he admitted he lied about that.

So yeah.

if he's telling you you're upsetting him like that? it's over. And to keep from loosing him as a friend? you've both gotta take some time off from talking. YOU need to find your feet without constantly looking for him. and HE needs time to KNOW that you're not still HOPING for something --and to know you're not upset anymore-- and that he can quit feeling guilty.

it sounds like your self-esteem's pretty damn low though... and understandibly. If you have friends in the area, plan a gaming night. or a movie night. or a baking night. or ANYTHING, but make it a SWORN date to keep once a week. the more talking you can do DURING it, the better. Making SURE you get out with people who've got no romantic connection to you, but care about you deeply is very important.

i isolated myself b/c i was CERTAIN i was a bother, burden, and drain on everyone i liked. and that's just not the way it is.

Keep taking care of yourself! You're worth it! Eating well, keeping a steady sleep cycle, --grooming..., excercise... all of that makes you feel better. The last thing you want right now is to FEEL so worthless you TREAT yourself that way. You don't need to let things slip into a depression. Remember that YOU are important AND smart AND dependable AND a good person.

i let myself go... and then used the fact that i couldn't sleep or that i gained weight as "evidence" that my ex was right to dump me.

Just because you and HE didn't get along doesn't make YOU any less important.

Take it easy. Don't force things. Pamper yourself-- but take CARE of yourself. Don't let yourself sit around and mope. Join a church group, a community center group, an anime club through a local community college...or just make friday nights "GIRLY NIGHT" with your friends, even if they're boys.

the key is to remember that YOU ARE WORTHWHILE. Even if you don't believe that now? Give it time. PRETEND you believe it. In time, you'll see that you don't have to pretend anymore. b/c you're RIGHT.

...and if you find yourself just withdrawing further and further?... do NOT be afraid to go to a therapist, a priest, or some other kind of counsellor. We love you here, but we're not THERE in PERSON... and we're not professionals either.

if you'd like to talk more, send me a pm. we can talk as much as you'd like.

TMB: ... (you posted while i was typing. :P )

dude. dont' make a huge fuss. play it cool. be straight with her. make it clear there's no pressure. that you're not creepy or desperate and that if she's not interested there's no bad feelings.

if YOU don't make a big deal about asking her out, say for a movie? or for dinner? or for roller skating? or to play a really cool game that you just got that's 2 player ((in your living room, not your bedroom... no weirdo vibes.)) then SHE won't make a big deal out of her response.

She won't feel like she's gotta LOVE you to be willing to spend time alone with you. She won't feel like she'll BREAK you if she doesn't have romantic feelings for you. And she'll be just as honest and mature about it as you are. ((unless she's still in high school--then god only knows how 'maturely' she'll respond.))

but rule of thumb? being blunt and honest may take the MYSTERY and coy little flirting games out of things... but it makes it a HELL of a lot easier. and if you can't TALK TO HER honestly??? what the hell kind of relationship do you think you're gonna have with her?

so yeah.
treat her like you wanna be treated. Maturely, calmly, no head-games, no pressure.

Good luck! *salutes TMB*

*nods* Kya speaks Very wisely...

I tried to tell a guy (who I was very close friends with) that I had a crush on him. I spoke to him at the last dance of the school year (we were only freshmen). He told me it wouldnt change our friendship, but the next day (and the rest of high school), he completely ignored me. I was devestated. I didnt take care of myself. All my friends were His friends as well, so I couldnt talk to them about it.

It wasnt until Senior year that I said screw him and went on with my life. Don't make the mistake I did... Take good care of yourself. And you can Always come here and talk to us...

Yeah, you only live once and fortune favors the bold. If she doesn't go for it then move on, there are other fish in the sea.

GO FOR IT!

Anyways, if she has been on your mind recently, and you have felt an atraction since you were kids growing up together, you need to act on this. As Kya said, start off slow, ask her out to a movie or something and maybe afterwards talk about how you feel. It seems like getting it off your chest allows her to know where your standing and allows you to communicate better with her and not keeping something that is very important. So as a I said before, GO FOR IT!

Same here... :tsad:
I've helped so many people with their relationships, but myself... I never THOUGHT of relationships until I entered high school. And both times I tried, the guys treated me like ****. I dunno... I just have a feeling I"m not meant to have a guy of my own...

TMB... All the power to you! I hope, whatever you do, you are successful and happy in the end. Its not everyday that something that special comes to be.. ;)

The hurt never really goes away, but it does get better. You'll still feel pains when you go by one of your guy's spots, or see something that reminds you of him.

That dude who said "it's better to have loved and lost, then to have never loved at all." is a freak of nature.

I couldn't disagree more.

The hurt will go away, it just takes time. Especially once you find someone else. My ex left me, I Thought I'd never feel better, but now I am with someone whom I love very much and nothing about the ex bothers me anymore. At all. I can even hang out with my ex as friends and it's fine.

The point is, there is someone out there for you shadow. and once you find him, it'll just feel like all your past relationships were just practice for the real one.

I hope that makes sense

Your words are helpful. I've unfortuantly done some really stupid things...I hit a very low low point.

My family is making me go to an evaluation---they can actually have me admitted if they want to. So if I disapear, its because I'm getting my head worked on.

Its not that I want to do stupid things. Its that I just feel so low, I am looking for anything that will snap me into reality. Snap me into the fun loving cool wonderful girl/woman people believe me to be.

I want to be good, I want to be happy, but I am so far down in my whole---and I kinda like the whole cuz it is safe, and dark, and framilar, and cozy...or something... That I don't even have the strangth to pull myself out. Sometimes, I don't want to be pulled out.

I called a therapist that my doctor recomended. I'm on a waiting list. She must be good, but I only feel worse, and I'm really not strong enough to wait.

I've never been this low. And sometimes, I just wish he (the ex) would know how I feel, and be there to help me. But he isnt strong enough either. I'm too much work.

I used to sit and listen to him cry and cry, and be all depressed. I would be there for him each and every time---often before we started dating. I just wish he could have been strong enough to catch me.

I'm done with school. jobless. trying so hard to find and keep good decient friends. Its hard when my life feels like it is in limbo and the people I loved and cared about have left.

Well, anyway. You've given me things to think about. Its so nice to know people I've never met feel enough to encourage me to do the right thing. Things I know, things I wish i was strong enough to do.

I need to find strength. I don't know where I will find it.

3mariobro... you should go for it. she's known you her whole life... it might be a really good relationship...because you both already know everything about the other person. just my thoughts.

Wow, Shadow. You have said some things that are like deja vu for me in your last post.

There were lots of times I felt soo low. Unbelieveably low. And when you are that low, it's scary to think about getting back up again. Because you know how it feels to fall so far.

I used to sit and listen to him cry and cry, and be all depressed. I would be there for him each and every time---often before we started dating. I just wish he could have been strong enough to catch me.

Jesus... that could be me speaking...

I also know all about wanting to be the person that people think you are, or that you used to be. And... well... I can go on, because there are many similarities... but...

Just know that I understand. Listen... PM me... or email me or IM me if you want to talk. I'll send you a PM with my names, okay? If you wanna talk, fine. If not, then that's fine too. Just know that I understand. I care. And we're here for you. *hugs*

as scary as it is to give up your right to leave some place like the psych ward, at least your family is watching out for you. I know that both times i hit my wall, i had to admit myself solo. ... and it scared the piss out of me.

But you're right... when you've gone so far down that you can't go any further, there's a comfort there. nothing else bad can happen. you're safe. But if you don't grab those passing moments of bravery by the horns and let others HELP YOU, your safe place will disappear.

So yes. Help your family help you. All of you are in my thoughts, and i'll be rooting for you. There's no shame in getting help, and i wish you the best of luck learning to let yourself be happy again.

Grrr... my mother is getting more and more annoying these days. She's on holidays, so she actually has time to think about stuff. First, she starts off with a "you shoudl go to bed" and "shouldn't you be wearing that other, warmer sweater?" No, dammit, I'm almost 20 and it's none of her concern if I freeze or don't get enough sleep.

That'd be all right, but today (well, about 10 minutes ago) she had one of her typical "let's check on my oldest son's educational successes"-attacks.So she came up to me, asking "So, you had your finals, right?" - "right" - "what subject?" - "Law and company rights plus practical skills" - "What was your mark?" - "4.0 (NOTE: that is not too bad, considering the amount of time I spent learning an the mood I was in on test date)" - "And that goes with?" - "Nothing" - "But you had other finals?" - "Yes" - "What subjects?" - "French part one, Nature science and ecology and maths" - "What did you score there?" - "4.5, 4.4, 2.3" - "And this is for your final report?" - "No, it's, as the name says, for my finals, my diploma" - "and what's for your final report then?" - "I don't know yet" - "Why?" - "Because the semester just started" - "What did you have in the Law... test?" - "a 4.0" - "You messed up!" - "No, I didn't" - "What were you going for" - "An average mark" - "You could have been better" - "whatever, it's my tests, it's my finals, it's my diploma, I do whatever I want with it" - "That is your future" - "It's only a piece of paper, I have enough other pieces of paper that could make me an english teacher almost everywhere on this planet" - "you must pass your finals" - "Yes, I intend to do so" - "you must" - "It's only a piece of paper" - "...hehehe" - "What? At least say something clever." - "You just told me a load of ****" - "No, I didn't, I can show you my entire pile of paper, certifying that I could be an English teacher" - "What did you work the last 4 years for" - "How should I know, you know I hate School" - "You screwed up" - "No, I didn't"

and that's the part where I left. Too pissed to go on. Why the heck does she even bother? I mean, she always does that when she's bored or something. She always knows everything better. "I already have my diploma" Of course she does, she's way older than I am. "You must show them" No, I don't I don't even have to care. I don't have to "have to" anything.

Why can't she just leave me alone? She's just pissing me off when she's bored. And she never gets what I say.

Parents are all the same, aren't they? Some of them (Note, I said SOME, not ALL of them) think we're doing this for them. WE ARE NOT. WE ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR OUR OWN FUTURE, DAMMIT. Or if you "screw up", they'll think they badly raised you and they'll look bad and some are just too damn proud and god damn arrogant (I'm not trying to insult your mother). Just ignore what she said and follow YOUR OWN PATH. YOU are responsible for what you do and NO ONE ELSE.

I hear you, Anarky. My mom acts the same way with asking many questions and nagging us to no end. I usually ignore it because it irritates me so much. I'll tell you what, though. Despite all that nagging, you know you love her and she loves you. I always think about what my life will be like after she passes away. She won't be around to nag me anymore and tell me what I need to do. At this point, it's easy to say that I'm annoyed by her. But, when she's gone, I'm going to look back, remember those times, and discover it wasn't so bad after all.

Well I can just say that parents do the best they can... theres no handbook or guide for raising kids ,I dont know the backround you have with your mom and I know there are some really bad parents out there .... but if your mom is the average mom the only thing she probably wants is to be sure that your going to have a good life in your future, cause thats the goal of all parents ,thats why they raise you ,send you to school and everything which really is a LOT of work and sometimes as kids we dont appreciate it much but when you become parents if you do..... youll know why they did all the nagging and stuff, and yes in some way we owe our parents to do the best we can cause they lost too their time , money ,youth and many other things to take care of us and they did it cause they love you and were willing to choose being a parent over other things .So maybe you should take it with more calm , yes parents do screw up sometimes, but well everybody makes mistakes at their job and being a parent is really one of the hardest.

You know how life is like a rollercoaster with its ups and downs? when everything is as low as you think it could be, it starts changing and things start going up? Well, I'm happy to say that I am finally having my turn at heading upward...

Its taken a long time, a lot of personal wear and tear, but... I'm finally starting to feel better about things. A LOT of things. Getting misunderstandings settled, life goals made a lil clearer, personal understandings more..uh, understood. I'm seeing myself actually Improving a lil with each day. This past month has Really been an eye-opening experience.

After what, three four years of stuff going on in my life, its nice to see things finally settling down. health, family and friends (online and IRL), school, my future... its all starting come together right.

My parents are finally starting to see the potential I have as an artist (my mom's especially impressed), I have people interested in my performance skills, I'm *this close* to getting some art published within a few months (possibly in the run for a monetary prize), my reputation as a singer and artist is spreading across campus after some struggle (mostly my own inhibitions), My grades have recovered from the troubles with roommates and I"m getting a clearer picture of exactly What I want to write, or draw, or whatever. Things have improved between my oldest brother and I. My health is finally starting to settle to something whereI can control the symptoms with exercise and diet.

I feel like a ten ton weight has been lifted from my shoulders. I havent felt so relieved in such a long time. I feel Happy. My mind is at an ease that I havent felt in so long. Its so rare for me to post something happy in here... I'm just...wow.. this has been quite a past few weeks.

Good news in my corner too... The door to my moms nail salon got put in today, so now all that's left before she's fully running is to get her buisness liscense. Hopefuly, when that happens, I won't have to pay nearly as much to live here, and I can start putting money away for college in the fall :D.

I'm also *this* close to securing a new venue for my Pokemon tournaments, so I won't have to deal with Stupid Card Store. Hopefuly, when they see that we're uber 1337 and keep venues clean and don't tear things off the walls, the new venue'll want us back :D. And since it's not going to be at a retail location, there's no reason for the other stores in town to not support me. I'm going to be SO relieved on Friday though, 'cause that's when I'm gonna find out.

And I've started learning some C++ basics, to help with school and stuff.

I so damn frustrated!

I don't know if any of you recall but a few months ago I announced that I would be trying out for my University's baseball team.

Well so much for that.

My initial plan was to try out for catcher. Well when spring training started I found that more people were trying out for that position than I expected. Well I decided to try out to be a relief pitcher. I figured I would do this since I had one major thing working for me, my delivery. I pitch using a "Submarine" style, it's a type of sidearm delivery that can really throw batters off.

Well spring training started a few months ago (we start earlier than the pros) and boy was I ready, I had done conditioning and weight training, worked my ass off getting my speed up and building my arm strength. When spring training came around I was so nervous due to the fact I hadn't pitched since my sophomore year in High School, well something amazing happen I got the last spot in the bullpen rotation, one of only 3 walk-ons to even be put on the roster.

Well all that came crashing down the other day when I was warming my arm up at the local pitching cages and just like that I blew out my arm. Now im getting all these tests done and if I have to have surgery I can say goodbye to having a shot again until my Junior year in college (atleast that's my estimate). This just...sucks.

03-02-2005, 10:26 AM
Damn. That really does suck. How bad is your arm? Do you know the extent of the damage? Could it be something that a little rehabbing could fix? The mention of surgery can definitely make you worry.

I don't even know yet im waiting for the results of the tests and since the regular season has started for NCAA baseball, time is ticking away, the team trainer says that it's most likely joint damage in my shoulder. He said it's probably not that bad but he told me not to rule surgery out if my tests come back positive. Hopefully I can do some rehab and get back around late April/ early May. That's the best case scenario, though.
