You people take this show way too seriously. *CONTROVERSIAL*
This goes to a group of Dromers, not every Dromer.
Many people are really taking this show seriously. Many people expect it to be the action fighting show of the century. The point of this show was to just make people laugh (and to sell the toys), and I think people haven't seen that. For example, some wonder why Bebop and Rocksteady are so iconic, and when people reply back saying they're dumb and that's what makes them funny and iconic, and some reply back saying "That's dumb. They don't pose as a threat, why are they in TMNT?" Here's a good reason: the other villains didn't really pose as a threat, either. Bebop and Rocksteady made most of the comedy out of the show, and I don't think people really get that besides the mini-series and the red-sky seasons, the show was to make people smile, laugh, and to sell some toys. Just had to get that out. |
Okay, so what exactly do you mean by seriously? Can you give some more examples to make your point?
|
I think it's another Bebop and Rocksteady topic.
|
If you think the Turtles are being taken too seriously, have you ever heard of the old comic series Cerebus?
Seriously, it started life as a Conan The Barbarian parody series, and then as the years progressed it started taking up topics such as politics and religion, to the point it went to author Dave Sim's head and he got the idea he was creating deep, meaningful art (and some fans agreed). I don't think any Turtles fans have gone that far with this series. |
When you have the head writer of the show saying if he'd has his way it would have stayed more action oriented then your argument kinda loses steam.
|
If thread titles says *CONTROVERSIAL* it probably isn't....
|
lol I have seen more controversial topics and statements said that were just honest or innocent remarks... or idiotic
|
What show are we talking about?
|
This is a TMNT forum, you dimwit. People who use these boards are obviously going to be passionate and discuss even minor things with great enthusiasm. If that's not for you, then kick rocks.
|
Are you talking about the OT?
Are you talking about wishing the OT would be a more serious show, and not therefore embracing its goofiness? 'Cause I gotta say, I'm annoyed with that stuff, too. Or are you just saying nerds shouldn't talk about things? 'Cause nerds just do that. |

Um... joke all you want guys, but some of you do take it extremely serious when at the end of the day, this is just a children's cartoon. I mean some of you got so extreme you even chased off one of the writers of the Nick show.

There's a difference between passionate and overly obsessive..... Most of you guys are fine, but some of you come off as having NO life whatsover outside of tmnt. Or you live just to Douchey McNitpick even the smallest of details.
It's like that one time where someone quoted another forum or website that mentioned how 'the people of the Technodrome' whine and complain about everything on the franchise and blah blah blah. Lots of you were all up in arms, defending our forum and insulting the other one. I was like 'uhhhhh..... guys, the're kinda right....' |
4,000 posts on the drome, as well as a blog/youtube channel dedicated to reviewing TMNT content suggests you're no better. :trazz:

Found that under the forum name. So, yeah, you guys should automatically know that I'm talking about the OT. Anyway, if you didn't get my idea, I mean that some people on this forum take the show to be more serious than a comedy show. Just sayin'. |

I don't know I can see the argument for the Nick series but if you mean OT? Than LOL that show is like the silver age of TMNT, it's mean't to be silly and sometimes nonsensical. Other than the Europe episodes I didn't mind the sillyness of the OT but to see that twice was a no go Next Mutation is proof of that.

But, this is my opinion after all, I'll post some links if you want me to. |

It's a problem for me, too. While there are perfectly valid things to critique the OT for, it's still unfair for it to be put down simply *because* it's goofy. Or indeed, to discuss the OT and spring to the defense of its characters for really being as heroic or as villainous as we thought they were as children, or to keep moving the goalposts and declare that *this* was the season Shredder and the Turtles started to get silly. |
I figured those asking about Bebop and Rocksteady are ones who didn't grow up on the OT and therefore dont understand why they are important to a lot of us.

You also have to remember, most of us first knew the TMNT through the OT and never heard of the comics.. and STILL never heard of the comics. So it's fair to be confused as to why we have new shows with more bad ass and serious Turtles and Shredder... without also a more bad-ass and serious Bebop and Rocksteady.
Honestly it should work both ways. The Mirage Turtles were toned down and tame to be in the 80's show. Likewise the 80's Bebop and Rocksteady should be wild and untamed in the 2012 show. |

Pointless thread is pointless
Controversial, where, his thread? Where the op just seems to be whining about a nonsensical topic. |
It's controversial that this topic believes itself to be controversial

That's kind of funny coming from one who has over 11,000 posts himself. But in all fairness, some of the other sites I'm member on my post-count is pretty high, too. I sort of agree that some posters here DO tend to get a little huffy when others disagree or call them out for taking the TMNT too seriously. I'm a big fan myself, but I don't get offended if someone else doesn't share my opinions about a certain version. |
