Why would anyone care what PL thinks of a Star Wars trailer?

To me, Dooku was George Lucas' last ditch effort to come up with a new villain after foolishly killing off Maul. If he'd been kept alive, he could have been the prequels' Vader.

Counting this is a TMNT forum and the co-creator of that franchise is known to be a fan of Star Wars I fail to see how it's not relevant to post the info on this forum whether you agree with what he said or not.

That makes no difference to my point.

Maul dying in the first movie is ok, but we just needed more info on who exactly Maul was which we never got, I mean the movie was called "The Phantom Menace" and we were supposed to find out what it was and yet the only thing we found out is that the Sith had returned. "At last we will reveal ourselves to the Jedi, at last we will have revenge" that line in the trailer/commercials made me so curious about it and even now we never really got that answer of what the sith really were implied unless you maybe read a bunch of books or comics. That was the missed opportunity for me.

Dooku was an awesome Sith though, he came off as so elegant and even though he was old he seemed stronger and more important than say Maul ever was. He was great in AotC and he came off really strong by beating both Obi Wan and Anakin and only retreating when Yoda came (which he still was able to stand against). And what do they do with that awesome build up? They kill him in the first ten minutes without a lot of emotion in RotS. What a missed opportunity.

Are you serious? The name was the only good thing about that movie and it was perfect. The Phantom Menace was very clearly supposed to be Palpatine and the funeral scene at the end so clearly sets up and answers everything implied by the title. They linger on his f*cking face while Yoda and Windu have the conversation about the Sith. What else did you really want? An incredibly elaborate exposition scene about what Sith are or what their specific motives and intentions are? If the movie was called "The Conspicuous and Clearly Depicted Menace" than maybe you'd have a point.

Maul had so much potential to be the Vader of the prequels. He was already badass and mysterious, but never got any backstory or real motivations and was killed off too soon. Dooku was okay, but RotS had no idea what to do with him after AotC. Maul was clearly the better choice.

Imagine Obi-Wan desperately wanting to avenge his master throughout the prequels, with Maul always managing to slip away somehow until RotS. That would have been awesome.

I liked the parade on Naboo because John Williams does this thing with the Augie's Great Municipal Band track where a bunch of kids are singing an extremely up beat version of the Emperor's theme. Very creepy. I've grown to appreciate that track because it seems to symbolize corruption reaching the highest level of the Republic, and the galaxy is none the wiser. Palpatine being there and undoubtedly grinning from ear to ear is the icing on the cake. I have to say that for me, Sidious is the best part of the prequels. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mOQBu-0N0ag

I feel like this movie is a lot more hyped than Episode 1 was back in 2000, but then again I was like 15 years old in 2000 so perhaps youth is clouding my judgement. Its not like anyone knew how poor the prequels would be before they actually came out.

I just feel like there's a lot more faith in this movie trilogy even though they could turn out just as lackluster as the prequels.

There's a lot more faith in it because they dragged the original cast out of cryogenic sleep and that's how fanboys are.

If the prequels were the exact same movies that they are, but with extraneous cameos from the original cast squeezed in, people would have loved them unconditionally, even if it made no sense. Likewise, if they made this movie about 90% the same as it is, but WITHOUT the original cast, people would be flinging poo saying there are only three "real" SW movies. It's just how people are.

Don't get me wrong, this looks really awesome and will probbly be, as a movie, way better than those three. I just think it's kind of cute how a couple years ago, a ton of folks were like, "No more SW movies, the prequels ruined the franchise, etc. etc.," and then the second they heard "Han Solo", suddenly the movie people could do no wrong. I like that. I like when people act exactly as you expect them to. It's neat.

You're joking, right? You have to be joking, because what you're saying is f*cking ridiculous on several different levels.

Agreed. The prequels aren't even that bad if you give them a chance anyway. RotS is excellent.

No way in hell is this movie more hyped than Episode I in 1999.

The return of the old actors might give this one an edge, but back in 1999 the amount of optimism and hype for the first new Star Wars moving in nearly two decades was huge.

I was only 14 in 1999 so I didn't really have a clue what the Star Wars fandom was like back then.

Looks cool so far, should be a nice christmas gift.

And who else wants to see the original unbastardnized versions of the classic trilogy on blu-ray?

She looks almost exactly like Natalie Portman. Its uncanny. She's obviously Han/Leia's daughter then, or Luke's daughter. Its funny how similar she looks.

If this is the new "trio" then I suppose Luke and Leia won't have as big roles as Han in this movie, which is kinda disappointing.
