I'm keeping myself spoiler free for the most part, except for the things that are so big that are impossible to avoid or things from early trailers. I mean it's hard to be spoiler free about Finn holding the lighsaber, hope I don't read too many spoilers in this thread. I'm pretty much ignoring other forums Force Awakens discussions since I don't trust them.

Why? Because it's stupid. (Also Disney merchandising opportunities)

Also. Why can't Finn be a part of the Skywalker family or just be a jedi on his own?
I don't think Kylo Ren will be anything like Vader, they want these films to have their own identity. They have plenty of ways to merchandise Darth Vader with their cartoons or even spin-off films.

Finn can be a jedi on his own, it was just speculation from my part. I don't think he is part of the Skywalker family though.

Also, something I really hope this movie does is keep the Jedi factor smaller than the prequels, much like they did with the original ones. The prequels had WAY too much Jedi **** going on, and a lightsaber would pop up every 5 seconds. It just didn't feel like the world of Star Wars. If Luke established a new Jedi Order, I hope it's much smaller (maybe 30 members tops?) than what we saw in the prequels. I'd rather see the thing focused on the world of Star Wars (Fighter Jets, Kylo Ren, the path to becoming someone using the Force) rather than JUST about the Jedi with artificial environments.
Yeah I think both will be the main protagonists with somewhat equal screen time. It was probably a compromise since they wanted a strong black/female characters but were afraid the general audience wouldn't accept them so we have the other white guy who pilots the X-Wing. Having a lighsaber doesn't make you a Jedi.
30 Jedi is too many, I mean the prequels were full of Jedi buy I can't even name 30 that I know by name or even had a lot of screen time in the prequels. Having 3 or 5 throughout all the movies would be fine. I was ok with the prequels having a ton of Jedi, I mean they were set before the "dark" times. But yeah now I want a universe where there's more than one Jedi but not that many either.

Which was re-recorded by Hamill for the trailer. Come on, they wouldn't use that specific line in a trailer to hype up the movie if they didn't plan on having the skywalker line continue. In fact I think all the "main"movies will have Skywalker as a recurring theme. If not how will the spin-offs differentiate themselves after the New order is done for.

Hell Finn and Rey could be cousins for all we know. (Which is close to nothing)
Well the child would not be a little more mixed. Why is it so impossible to finally have a pure black main character in the movies?
