I was pretty disappointed with this one, actually. Like... it was fine, but it felt like a rushed retread/do-over of Turtles Forever that didn't do it as well, so... for me, what was the point?

The highlight was definitely getting the original '87 cast back, and they were absolutely on point. But the usual 2D Flash animation just didn't do the '87-verse justice, and even its own characters looked wonky during those segments. And the '87 Turtles looked "off" and kind of unsettling as 3D models. Maybe that was hard to avoid with the designs being what they are, and points for ambition there, but it didn't work as well as I'd have liked.

The episode itself was fun enough. Though it cribbed hard from Turtles Forever. Lots of similar ideas and elements and character moments. It even made sense as a kind of follow-up -- the '87 Turtles are aware of the multiverse, '87 Don has a portal gun, Krang knows the Mirage-verse is the prime universe... -- but stops short of referencing the source of those ideas, and even contradicts it a bit with '87 Donnie not recognizing the Mirage universe. Which was pretty disappointing. I wasn't expecting them to directly reference the 2003 show, but a respectful nod would have been nice considering they took so much of this episode from their big finale. And while the Mirage-verse being presented comic-style was a really nice touch, the utter silence of the Mirage Turtles was a bit disappointing by comparison, IMO.

And that's kind of the thing -- I want to take this episode on its own merits, but by design it's impossible not to compare it to Turtles Forever, and at that it falls very short. Still a fun little episode, but not as "special" as it maybe should have been.
