Official episode discussion: Rise of the Turtles, Part 1 and 2

I was 1st grade when the 2003 tmnt toon began. It quickly became a GIGANTIC part of my life. I watched it every saturday morning with my dad. We loved it so much and always looked forward to a new episode every weekend. I am a junior in high school now and i have to say, getting up and watching turtles with him again was an amazing experience.

I have no idea why, but this just made me imagine Timon and Pumbaa taking the place of Bebop and Rocksteady.

Hell, even the first episode of the 2003 Cartoon was titled Things Change. Pretty much the creed for every cartoon incarnation of TMNT. If they are ever still around in about 15 years, it's gonna be the same thing. It's like being a wrestler; you gotta keep your gimmick fresh and original, but not backing away from what made you who you are in the first place. There's nothing wrong with a few tweaks every now and then.

I thought Uncle Phil was Darth Vader who I was thinking of at the time, but yeah I goofed. I guess I get James Earl Jones and James Avery mixed up sometimes. XD

Anyways am I the only one weirded out that Raph owns a pet turtle?

I don't really mind that Raph has a pet turtle. I like the idea that Raph shows his soft side when he's with Spike.

I thought I was the only one who thought of that! The voice is a poor man's Vader! I say that because no one has anything on JEJ! Still though I will always hear James Avery's voice no matter what!

I actually thought it was pretty cute. And if Klunk ever makes an appearance in this toon, that'll be a interesting sub-plot.

Raph having a pet turtle is a bit odd at first, but eh...I chalk it up to one of those things that will make your head explode if you over analyze it.

Kind of like how both Goofy and Pluto are dogs, but one is 'human' and the other is just a dog...best to just not even try to begin to figure it out.

And yeah, Klunk and Spike together could prove hilarious if done right.

That's funny, the 2003 show started in MY junior year of high school.

I think I was in 8th grade when it started, depending on what time of year in 03 it started, since I graduated HS in 2007. Too bad I didn't get to watch it much since I didn't have the right channel at the time though. :/

Ya, it does. I was a sophomore in high school when TMNT(2003) debuted and a few months older than the incarnation that made me a fan for life! Seeing different versions at different times in our life has made the franchise unique! I only wish there was something going on between '98-'03. That was a sad time in fandom and I needed it during middle school.
