I thought that the movies looked better than they have ever looked. Yes, they could look better. However, I do think that a lot of the grain from the first film comes from either stylistic choices (the flashbacks), film stock, and lighting. If you take a camera, and shoot something with limited lighting, you will get a lot of gain. The problem is, if you take out grain, you actually lose detail, which is why people make a big deal about DNR, which tends to make for an unnatural, glossy look. However, besides the flashback scenes, the grain in the first movie isn't nearly as bad as it used to be. I recall that scene where Casey runs up to the warehouse looking worse on the VHS and DVD than the TV broadcasts. The grain was still there.
I don't know what people are talking about with the other two films. They look good, though I do think that there were
some instances of EE, digital sharpening, and contrast. Granted, I don't have the sharp eye that many of HD enthusiasts have, but I think it is fair to say that these films do look better than they did on DVD. Just look at these screenshots!

Frankly, this is probably the best these films are ever going to look. I hope not. I would love to see an awesome restoration of the first film.
