I agree.. Mikey is always trying to have fun even at times he shouldnt be... I think some of the time he feigns ignorance to troll his brothers just to be funny... at least that is how I am choosing to interpret his portrayal...

Loved this episode a lot. Everything with Space Heroes and Leo and him watching out for his younger brothers and Raph watching out for him. Really perfect!

Also I liked Dogpound a lot more then I thought I would.
I don't think Mikey's stupid. Most of his mistakes and poor decisions come from just plain not paying attention. I also think he doesn't think before he speaks.

It's funny. I think I've always related to Michelangelo, because I'm laid back and not very driven, at times. Now it's like I share something else with him. I say he's distracted and doesn't think before he speaks because I tend to do the same thing.

I often ask questions before I even stop to think them through. Mikey and I are the kind of people who would open the fridge and yell, "Where's the ketchup," having not even looked past the front row of items. We would ask "Why?" or "So what?" immediately, though with two seconds of thought, we would've figured it out.

I don't think that when Mikey readied his water balloon, he was thinking, "Oh, it's just a battle to save the sewer and Splinter, I can fit in a water balloon toss at Leo." I think he thought, "Leo's back is turned. Water balloon," and all consideration of the major situation just slipped his mind.

Oddly enough I like this Mikey. Can't really put my finger on it...

I love this Mikey too, I don't know if he's retarded or very innocent but he makes me laugh a lot. Also he is the most genuine of the four.

Yeah I really like this version of Mikey also.
I didn't care for him much in this episode.
But I could see littles kids thinking the water balloon thing is funny.
I'm going to have to say next to the Monkey episode this is my least favorite.
I just found myself sort of uninterested in it all and I'm probably in the group that likes Shredders hench men unmutated.
But we shall see, this is one of those give a chance type of shows.
I've been highly impressed thus far though.

I don't mind Mikey being this way. At least he isn't cocky like 4Kids Mikey, and that's something I like. Let's hope he doesn't go that route. I just think he has a short attention span and isn't really focused but that he can be smart when he thinks about it.

And I agree that this episode wasn't as great as last week's. It was just okay for me.

Jeffery Combs voiced Dr. Victor Falco a deranged scientist, while Combs is best known for playing Dr. Herbert West in the 1985 film Re-Animator who was also a deranged scientist. In fact in the scenes where he holds the syringe is nod to the character who is usually seen holding a syringe with green liquid in it.

In the episode Old Friend, Old Enemy, where the Foot Soldiers are hung from the pipes in the sewers, the way they were hung (or the scene in general) is like from the 1974 film The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, where Leatherface hangs Pam on a meat hook and also in the 2010 remake A Nightmare On Elm Street, Freddy Krueger hangs his victims (Dean and Kris) on pipes in the boiler room.

Almost all the magazine's Raph reads is mostly horror/science fiction. I'm not sure (since it was never cleared) if Ciro reads or is a fan of Fangoria or HorrorHound or possibly Monster magazine.

Shredder does have some Freddy Krueger characteristics to him (he is also burnt) obviously minus the puns. I forgot who on here said this, but he (or she) who went to Nickelodeon studios to hear about the 2012 incarnation said that this Shredder has a scary vibe to him like Freddy Krueger.

We are still in the first season so I'm sure there will be (if any) more.

As for Hellrasier, I loved the first two, the third one was okay, could have been waaay better and the sequels don't exist in my eyes.

Wow, yeah. Didn't even put it together that Shredder was burnt too, on top of it. I did think of Fangoria though with the mags. Or some of those old House of Mystery comics; I think they're a little closer to those. If I had to guess, I'd say it's because the creators all grew up in that time, which was a golden age for horror. I wouldn't be surprised if we see more 80s/early 90s movie references in general (like the Karate Kid stuff on Bradford's magazine).

And... I love this Mikey too. Stupid is too harsh a word. He's impulsive for sure, naive maybe - but the guy is just a kid. I think some of his jokes, while pretty silly, are occasionally witty. I never liked either version of him in the past because the jokes were so bad. I've been waiting for years for someone to write decent comedy for the character.

Forgot to mention that in my post for some reason, but my feeling was that it was totally underwhelming and lame. That's like cutting off a bit of someone's hair, where's the lesson in pain there?

I realize this is a kid's show and it can't go too far in a dark direction, but the 2k3 show did it extremely well with Baxter. I was hoping Dogpound would have lost half an ear or something - that would have made a point.

Well, we still have many episodes to go. I have a feeling this won't be the first time Dogpound comes back with his tail between his legs. I'm with ya though, I'd like the Shredder make good on some of these threats eventually.

true, but Shredder only killed that one Purple Dragon and kept tormenting Baxter in the 2K3 show. Even when Hun kept failing over and over again, the worst he ever got was being forced to shovel stuff or whatever in the Foot dungeun or whatever that was. He never got any actual damage done to him, nor was Shredder seen punishing or killing any other Purple Dragons or Foot Ninjas.

I doubt we'll see Bradford lose a limb due to his action figure not looking as such.... they should have at least have him take his anger out on random nameless Foot Ninjas and Purple Dragons.

I just like to say, I LOVED Jason Biggs delivery when Leo panicked: " We have to get April out of that van, but Dogpound's in there and we're not ready to fight that guy An--Oh Splinter was right. We shouldn't have done this..."

Interesting enough this was written by the same guy who did, "Turtle Temper," which is considered by many to be the weakest episode of the series thus far.

This episode was better than "Turtle Temper," but I think this writer may not be as good as the others.

I guess those exposed mutant bones don't hurt as much when cut.

Me too. Good bit of voice acting there.

Based on Mikey's naming scheme (and using a bit of logic from the episode Metalhead), I'm convinced that Xever's moniker will be given because he's a fish and has a face.

"We get it..."

Or...Maybe Raph will call him "Fish Face" getting Mikey bent out of shape. I could see Raph snarling, "You're goin' down, Fish Face!" or something along those lines. Then again maybe Mikey will like it and run with it.

yeah, Fish-Face does sound like a random insult. I also wonder when they will acknowledge their mutant names. I hope they don't do stupid mistakes like when Bradford called Hamato 'Splinter' outright, and have Shredder call them Dogpound and Fishface in the next episode.

See, I'm still unsure that "Splinter" isn't a nickname Hamato Yoshi had BEFORE he mutated.
