Official Ep Discussion #11 "Mousers Attack!"

This episode was great... what would have made it fantastic is if Leonardo had dropped my favorite Leo line ever "Robots make my skin crawl" and just put me into an orgasmic nostalgic state.

I really loved how the whoel separation into two teams happened. I like that Splinter knows that the easiest way to stop his sons from being at each other's throats is to give them a common enemy. While turning Don and Mike into that adversary for Leo and Raph seems like a negative and wrong thing to do on the surface. Mike and Don have very thick skins and will be able to still function even if treated like second class citizens. I like that Splinter is intelligent enough to know that it would be worth sacrificing the well being of the two mentally stronger team members in order to coddle the sensibilities of the two divas.

All that aside the real stars of this episode were the Mousers or Mobile Offensive Underground Search Excavation and Retreival Sentries . The update of the design was perfect and the fact that they just kept coming and coming and coming totally nailed the inherent threat of the mousers. They are the zombies of the TMNT Universe, Sure a quick strike to the head kills them but blink and they can overwhelm you. Not to mention the whole radioactive isotope tracking system developed by Dexter Specman err.... Baxter Stockman, was a great way to make them even more of a threat.

My complaints are very small this week but they do exist. I have a real problem that when Donatello was explaining "Operation Space-Out" Baxter was shown as already being inside the defunct futon factory on fifth. Small complaint yes, but a complaint nonetheless. The other is the fact that Baxter was a total weenie the last time we met him and I don't know how he was able to go from that to creating an army of over 2000 mousers. It just didn't jive and I wish that the Baxter shown in this episode was the Baxter we met in the first episode. He definitely felt like more of a threat this week and also had more of that evil for the fun of it vibe from Mirage (I was half expecting him to reveal his plan to sink the city by striking at the foundation of major buildings) and also the cool suave demeanor of the IDW series. Yes that all pretty much evaporated once he was captured by the Purple Dragons and brought before Dogpound and Shredder. Still I like a competant and threatening Stockman and I hope we get to see more of the character as the show progresses.

Still the fact that the Space Heroes "red shirts" was in Orange and Purple was great IN YOUR FACE symbolism, and Raph not only coming up with a plan but having it work flawlessly was fantastic. I can't wait until Stockman makes FishFace his legs and we get some Xever action to go with the threat that is Dogpound.

In closing moment of the episode for me was my Mother sitting watching with me and going "Baxter's Black?" I guess she never had a chance to read Mirage #2 since she always thought of him as White or a Fly.

Yeah. That was really cool. Even Raph's affectionate little noogie he gave Mike right before that was nice. I know what people mean, it doesn't really feel like Mike and Don redeemed themselves much fight-wise, but I think the important thing was that the experience really humbled Raph and Leo in the end. Sometimes these little brotherly moments speak volumes, you know?

I also loved the part where Dogpound was teasing Fishface by tapping on his glass. Hope that guy gets his legs soon, I really want to see him in action.

And Mikey breakdancing - yes!! More of that, please.

Frankly, I thought the premise with the A and B Team stuff was silly. There should have been a better plot for that one, just starting with April losing her cell phone. However, I DO like that scene where we see that Space Heroes clip. And yes, these moments do speak in volumes.

Oh yeah. I forgot that part. That was funny, but kind of mean. Fishface was probably thinking, "Not cool, man! Wait til I get my legs, you dog sniffer, you!"

Of course. I forgot about Mikey breakdancing. That was awesome!

Still, one of my favorite parts was when the "A Team" are battling some Mousers, and Leo jumps and balances on top of one's head to slice. I loved that. Then he jumps to balance himself on the fire hydrant. Priceless. It was incredible. That's one reason why he's my favorite.

Yes, very slick move. This show is so freaking ninja... I'm in geek heaven. Fighting (martial arts especially) is notoriously difficult to animate well. The artists are just killing it on this show.

Good stuff as always. I gotta say, much to my surprise, I REALLY like Dogpound. & those new Mousers are by far my favorite version of them. Using modulated cat sound effects for their 'voice' & stuff was pure genius. Their design is rad, love the glowing mouths. Great to see robots gettin' smashed, Mousers especially. I dug the theme of it all, teamwork, the importance of working together, brotherhood, etc. A friend of mine predicted a week or so back that Fishface would get his legs from Stockman, and after todays episode I'm sure that'll be the case (though I was already sold on his theory). It'll be interesting to see if they're really going to make use of that same Stockman/Shredder dynamic the 2k3 series had. I do enjoy how they're blending all of the series' together, imo they're doing a better job of that then IDW is. It's more evenly distributed and simultaneous rather than being done in large obnoxiously obvious doses (which they [IDW] did at first, but have thankfully stopped doing- Subtlety is key!).

PS: The soundtrack was kickin' today!

This was a very fun episode that really set up future plot angles with Dexter, I mean Baxter, working with Shredder (this is probably how fishface gets his legs). The next two episodes should be really good nostalgia trips, I guarantee.

I don't know about everyone else, but I really would love if Irma, Vernon and Burne become regulars on the show. At least Irma since we will be getting more characters from the 1987 - 1996 series. The image was so quick that I didn't even see it. Hopefully when I watch it again, I will be able to see it.

Apparently this incarnation of Irma has bangs, I would love to see a full body of picture of her, but I guess that would have to wait, if she actually does become a regular on the show.

Awesome episode today. I liked the overall lesson that neither team is better than the other but they're all good when they're together. I also loved the Mousers, and I feel that Stockman is definitely more of a threat now that he's working for Shredder. Loved the Space Heroes clip as well as the brotherly moments. Overall, this episode was great, and I think the little nod to Irma was cool, too, even though I didn't catch it. Hopefully, April will get a new phone.

Super awesome episode. I think Kenny Byerly is my favorite writer on the show. I feel Don and Mike could have been redeemed more, but still the whole episode was exciting, funny and had me grinning the whole time.

The Mousers were cool, loved how they looked exactly like Mirage Mousers and acted like cats. The new acronym is neat: Mobile Offensive Underground Search Excavation and Retrieval Sentries. The IDW acronym is Minefield Ordnance Un-arming System Enhanced Robots, but I think I like this one better.

I like that Baxter's in Shredder's employ now, and I'm sure we'll see Xever walking around on two legs again soon. Wonder how long until Bax turns in to fly?

Then I found out they released on for Tron: Uprising.

Aw, the synopsis misled me lol.

I was expecting a whole "Leo/Raph wasn't in the episode, got misplaced somewhere so Donnie/Mikey saves the day" story but it's more on "Leo/Raph realizing they need the other two in the long run and ditto with Don/Mikey".

Mousers are cute. And I like how the villains merged together.

Irma gets a shout out, and April has her t-phone. That self-destructs by voice command.

So would Irma and Vernon be April's classmates and Burne some upperclassman in charge of the school paper or something? In terms of watching, the picture flashes on screen but given how easy it paused on my friend's dvr after the show, I think it holds long enough to be read if you get up close to the tv
