Claiming it wasn't meant to be a City At War reference is hilarious. Then don't put city in the title. Anyways the artwork is...well I like everything but the turtles. The Turtles look horrid. I don't know why people feel the need to over stylize them. It works fine for a pin up but not a whole book. I'll give the series till the end of this arc to impress me and then it's getting dropped. I've been pretty patient with it so far and it hasn't done anything for me.

Thanks! I guess I forgot that this "City At War" took place before they brought Ch'rell back into the picture. It's too bad they didn't listen to any of Laird's concerns, especially regarding Karai... This really was one of the worse adaptations in this series.
Really? I thought it did a heck of a job condensing and streamlining it for everyone to appreciate. It also introduced Karai to a wider audience including myself beyond a video game appearance. Chr'ell does appear in the final scene in a private chamber getting healed by the clone worms where Karai shares a little dialogue with him.

It's probably the office complex of some sort of front company of the foot. Remember when Karai contacted the professor guy? She gave him a business card that said 'Assistant Director', and below followed the name of a company that is casually blocked by Miller's hand.

Maybe in your opinion it's fine. I don't like it. The masks are dumb as you mentioned, as are their facial expressions. No clue why their skin is multi-colored. Eyes look off, I hate when they have pupils. Skinny to fat limbs is disturbingly reminiscent of the horrid TMNT movie designs.

Yes, that would be TOO MUCH. I mean, even if I'm really nostalgic about the Mirage era, we must accept that the turtles have rainbow bandanas in IDW's universe. I can't see two different version of the comic coming out at the same time, it would be confusing. After all they was able to give a reason for the multicolored bandanas and I thought it was a good one.

I agree that the facial expressions are a bit weird. The only one I really dig are raphael's (the artist really nailed him down). As for the others, well... not so much. A panel comes back to mind when they were sitting in the back of the van and mickey's face looks pretty awful. I also don't dig the bandanas designs (raphael's excluded). Leo's bandana is a bit weird but I can live with it, mikey's ain't that bad either. Donnie's though, ugh. Also Raph and Leo's eyes are quite thin, giving them quite the menacing look, but for donnie and mikey's is quite the opposite. They have big round eyes which make them look kind of childish (especially when compared to their brothers). Also I don't know if it's only me, but mikey and donnie seem to have very round shaped heads, and that kind of puts me off.

That being said, the art is still amazing. This is just me nit-picking. As for the good things, the fight scenes look great, raphael looks totally badass, the human characters are great, etc etc etc. I also love how Santolouco incorporated little pouches in the belt design of the turtles. And let's not forget the feudal japan stuff! those panels are awesome.

So, overall, I'm really happy that he is the new regular

Yeah I know, it's just the old mirage fan speaking from the dark recesses of my soul. The explanation they gave for this universe is pretty coherent after all and it's not that I'm against it, it's just that miss the all red team D:

Good call! Just like that lost plot thread in "Turtle Tracks"! What was the issue number so I can go back and look?

Artist-wise I have no problem with the current or the next, I just wish we could get the main artist tied down to the title for a while since we got a new main artist for only about 5 issues.

That's a shame. I like Eastman's style a lot. Mateus Santolouco is pretty good, but the faces they make are kind of weird sometimes.

You should give them a shot. The regular Sonic book has been treading water for the past year after a streak of awesome issues, but Sonic Universe and Mega Man are rather great, and make better use of Bates' sensibilities. He's good here; he's great there.

All black could work. Something I like about Mateus' bandanas are that they look like ripped pieces tied over they eyes, except with too much styling. I really dug Slash's bandana.

They reminded me of the Next Mutation turtles' bandanas IMMEDIATELY for some reason.

One thing mentioned is "one of the supporting cast is struggling with life and death" so lets say Splinter is injured by Shredder leaving Leo a choice to either join him as his no.2 or he will kill Splinter out right. Leonardo goes along with the demand for Splinter's sake and gathers intel on the Foot Clan's operations in the mean time until he can find the right moment to turn the tables on the Shredder. Though by that point Leonardo would have unwittingly helped Shredder dominate the underworld. Maybe even forced to come to blows with the other three turtles. I would like to see Leonardo training these surprise mutants,Bebop,Rocksteady, Leatherhead, or whoever else is being eluded to.

In reference to coincidence or not of the title Cityfall compared to City At War, I automatically thought of the last James Bond film Skyfall instead. Storywise it does seem to be the opposite. Instead of baddies trying to grab power in the underworld with Shredder gone its Shredder coming to power.

It is the inverse of "City at War."

The titles are exactly what they sound like:

City at War: A City caught in the turmoil of fighting between the Foot Clan and the Turtles

Cityfall: Most likely NYC's control falling under the weight of the Shredder.

I'd like to see something similar to the 4kids series where Oroku Saki makes deals with the Mayor and has public appearances.
