I don't see how guns will be an issue for the turtles in the movie, how many ninja movies have there been with people shooting at ninjas and they never hit them?

I don't see how that would be the end credit role, maybe in real life but this is a movie with turtles that are ninjas of course if they get shot it will be a flesh wound on the arm or they may have impervious shells, I doubt we see a main turtle character riddled with bullets.

Exactly. Surely most movie ninjas would just do a sweet sword flurry and deflect all the bullets?

Come to think of it when has a ninja ever been shot to death in an American movie, if anything they get winged or act dead then pop back up completely fine later on.

The fact that the Foot will be using guns and other modern day weapons is not the issue. The Foot in the original comics occasionaly used guns as well as other stuff like the robot in 'City At War'. The Foot in the 1987 cartoon used laser guns and other futuristic tech as did the ones from the 2003 cartoon.

It's the worry that it is their primary choice when fighting that causes the worry; firstly that this wont be quite the movie with great martial arts fight scenes that were being promised and secondly that the Foot in the new movie wont be a ninja clan using military-esque elements but will be an actual branch of the US military which of course would be an issue it itself even if it didn't point to the existence of Schrader which would a rather big issue.

The foot in the OT were robots that acted like mummies, this version is at least better than that.

I hope this movie doesn't become a Fred Wolf TMNT. That should stay with all the children's cartoon stuff. But by the cast so far, I feel like we are getting the kiddy Turtles cartoon. Yet again, we'll have to wait and see.

The fact that they're pulling from OT doesn't necessarily reflect the tone of the film, or mean that it's going to be "kiddy." In that respect, pulling from the Nick cartoon would more likely be a sign of the movie being "kiddy." Fans of OT are adults now. If anything, the fact that they're catering to OT fans should be a sign that they plan to entertain those adults.

EDIT___
Because they know all that OT stuff is going to go over kids' heads. Kids aren't going to know who Vern or Bernadette are, and they aren't going to know why April is an adult reporter. The people behind this film are ready to hit kids with that weirdness for the sake of adults who will appreciate it. I think it all bodes well for the tone.

Some of these people are acting like idiots. April was a reporter in the first movie too, remember? Or did everyone suddenly forget that?

Vernon being there as a support character makes no difference.

I think there is one 11 or 12 year old that posted in the "how old were you when you saw the original Ninja Turtles movie ?" Thread. They got it. My little bro who is 10 saw the original movie before he ever watched the tv show too.

I have to agree though, apart from that, not many kids would have seen it.

Everyone but me. I became a TMNT fan from the Mirage comics firstly, Then I began picking up the Archie TMNTA, and then I watched the 80's toon. And I only realy enjoyed the pilot. Even as a kid I thought that cartoon went wayyyyy off the wonky end. But, It did expose more people to the TMNT. Sadly, that's what alot of people think of even though there is so much more to them.

a lot of my friends and family that were 5-10 during the time when the movies and ot were running are now turning their kids onto the original movies. i know a couple of my cousins and my best friends brother just all (seemingly within days of each other) bought that cheap 4 movie dvd with the trilogy and the '07 movie on it. their kids are all between 2 and 5 right now, so they're at that age where they dont really care to distinguish between specific eras and just enjoy them for what they are.

seems like as they grow up, they'll have memories of the original movies, the ot, the 2k3 series AND the nick series, plus the '14 movie all together. thats kinda cool.

Haha yeah I agree. Especially the last three statements. I don't get why everyone hates on the people who don't favor the little kids aspect of the Turtles. Is it so bad to make something dark like in the original Mirage comics? The first movie was nostalgic to many people but I don't think that's the only reason why most of us can agree it was by far the best Turtles movie and one of the best iterations of the Turtles. It wasn't too dumbed down. It was pretty dark. Nostalgia shouldn't be the only cornerstone to the Turtles. The darker stuff should be celebrated just as much as the kiddy aspect everyone loves. But I can dream...

I actually became a fan from watching the first movie as a young child. I then got into the OT, I found myself not liking the cartoon as much, but watched it anyway. I then got on to the comics ect.
The big things that got me about going from the movie to the toon was that The Shredder was so stupid and the Foot looked completely different. I was pleasantly surprised when I checked out the comics and they were so similar to the movie. It's just the version I like best.
