Aw, look at his itty bitty head.

I hope Spike/Slash isn't a complete idiot in this continuity.

Not sure I like the insinuation that he's going to be a regular 5th turtle addition to the fearsome foursome though. But I'm mostly curious to see how they'll handle the whole thing. I'd love to see a Slash vs. Leatherhead throwdown at some point.

Hopefully Slash is treated like Leatherhead is. He's an ally but doesn't live with them all the time.

Well, with Venus the whole thing was thrown out of left field that they suddenly had a sister. With Spike, he's Raph's pet and not related to them in any way, so it's definitely a different take on the fifth Turtle thing. I don't mind it, and I really can't wait to see what they do with the character. Like I said before, I have faith in these writers that they'll do things the right way.

This is exactly why I didn't want Slash in the Nick iteration. They are totally going with the idea of being similar yet immensly different in terms of re-introducing characters, which I love, but with that knowledge there's some characters I'd just rather not see knowing that Nickelodeon has found their own lane as far as this series goes. Slash was number one in my mental list of characters I didn't want touched. So I'm glad the kids of today get to experience that character (he's one of my favs) but at the same time I'm a little (just a little) disappointed because I knew it would be something like this based on the rest of what I've seen with Nick.

...and I wanted him to be EVIL!!!! What's all this ally talk? Since he's an ally, however, I hope he's a skilled fighter. "He lives with the turtles and sees them training all the time." <--(hypothetical words) seems like a likely explanation. I just hope he doesn't get dumbed down like Dogpound and only screams and slashes (no pun intended) at people. *smh*.

Slash is widely different in each incarnation. Just look at how he was in the original cartoon for goodness sakes! The Archie Slash is the definitive one and the IDW version seems like Slash mixed with Tokka.

I'll be curious to learn why Mikey (presumably) will start calling Raph's old pet by a new name.

Maybe if "Spike" defects to the villains for a spell, they'll rename him "Slash" to reflect his shifted alliance and more sinister persona.

I foresee an instance where something happens in the effect of Raphael yelling "get him spike!" And the newly mutated spike slashes at something with his claws, which prompts Mikey to say something like "maybe we should call him slash?" But that's all we hear of it. I mean, fishface and dogpound have those names, but they are still occasionally called xever and Bradford.

The article said Feldman had only done voice recordings for 2 episodes so far so I'm not too worried about him becoming a permanent 5th turtle.

If they don't turn him heel eventually, that's a huge wasted opportunity. Slash is an ok character, but I'm not in love with the idea of him living with the TMNT and being their "big buddy". It's ok for storyline purposes in the beginning, but it would be better if they had him become a tragic villain later on, if for no other reason than to keep him from overshadowing the other guys.

Put it this way: "The Real Ghostbusters" was great; "Slimer & The Real Ghostbusters" was awful. "Slash & The TMNT" would be awful, too.

Thats true. This is another interesting thing about the Slash progression:
FW: Bebop's Pet - Villain
Archie: Alien Turtle (and we all gave Bay such a hard time.) - Villain with an eventual touching face turn.
Nick: Raph's pet - hero with the definite possibility of a heel turn.

I still think that Archie's Slash will be my favorite take on the character, but I'm excited to see what the Nick guys do with this. So far they haven't let me down.

Now off to Facebook to see if Rob Paulsen can divulge anything about working with Corey. Heck...it's kinda a reversal of him and Sean. Now he's the "new Don" and Feldman's the "elder statesman" as it were.

I feel the same... Casey is all the goon they need... they do not need two... they also already have four turtles... Slash would be redundant as a recurring member of the crew..

I'm guessing that Slash there will be circumstances why he wont be a permenant edition to the group. Maybe something that'll force him into the enemy camp.

I think the temptation to have the turtles fight Slash is too great... because it would be a freaking cool fight! So something is definitely going to happen... either he turns on them, or the turtles have to win him over first... can't wait to see what they have planned.

Well crap. I was hoping Slash would show up, but not as Spike mutated into him. Any way, maybe they will surprise me. Spike, being a box turtle would look different mutated...But that tinsy lil head? WTH?

I know. I'm not in love with it; as a general rule I don't like "stylized" art or animation. I always grew up with the Neal Adams philosophy, "'Style' just means you don't know how to draw", or something to that effect. Stuff looks like what it looks like. It's like how bad the humans in the CGI TMNT look to my eyes; I get that it's "a style", it just looks completely wrong.

I get that cartoons have a little more leeway in general with this, but I've always preferred cartoons where the animation approaches at least being semi-realistic, at least with regards to basic proprtions, etc.

I'm the minority, I know. I do like the show, mostly, but I'm never gonna love the look of it.

I can now honestly understand the complaints of people who are against CGI or who are against the look of this show. Cgi shows has a tendency to have this look that are either lazy or bland which is the reason why most of them look so similar to each other and I'm sorry to say this but this, this look right here is downright lazy.

As CGI shows go, I will say TMNT is generally one of the best-looking I've seen. A few character designs notwithstanding.

(Despite the fact that the CGI style - which is entirely a production choice, remember, not a necessity - means that New York, the biggest city in the entire world, will never have more then 3 people on the street at any given time. Which is always going to bother me a little.)

The design doesn't look too bad, but the head (in my opinion at least) looks way too Damn small for his body.
