It's really not like most reality shows...it's actually very mundane and ordinary, not disturbing/ridiculous. I swear it's mostly scripted because it almost plays out like a sitcom disguised as a reality show.

Ratings aren't an indicator of what is a "better" show. Doctor Who is obviously the best show on TV right now (well, when it is on - and IMO, but my opinion is the only one that counts so that makes it a fact) and it will never be a ratings juggernaut.
