From that clip, it almost seems like Spike might try to attack/destroy the other turtles in defense of Raph. And then Raph has to choose between his brothers or Spike...

So, maybe because Raph chooses his brothers over Spike, then he becomes 'Slash'.

That trailer made me so ready for Saturday! I am really loving Slashes voice! Oh yeah, I'm pretty sure he holds a grudge against Raph's brothers. After all, Raph has vented to Spike about them I am sure more times than he has talked good about them.

I am looking forward to the episode. It looks like his head isn't as small as it was in the art, still I think he looks a lil pudgy. lol. That clip looks good though!

I know. That's one detail I am really curious about. If they follow the norm, it will be because Mike renames him that at some point. But why would Raph stop calling him Spike unless Spike himself has something to do with the redub? We shall soon see.

I feel at some point when Raph chooses his brothers over his friend, Spike will feel betrayed and will turn on Raph and disassociate himself from everything before his mutation, including his name, like that name has no meaning to him anymore.

The others may call Spike "Slash". but I doubt Raph will.

I think Raph will continue to call "Slash" Spike, much like Donnie continued to call "Mutagen Man" Timothy.

I like the changes made so far.

My line of thinking is... so what if it's not like the comic books/past tv shows?
The whole point for me for watching the new show is precisely to see the new twists.

(And naturally other stuff like the awesome technical fight scenes, the comedy, and the easter eggs)

Of course, stuff like the sides characters take, or the weapons they use are tolerable changes. But things like what the MB movie is doing about an alien world where the Turtles are from, a ''Coronel Schraeder" with absolutely no connection to a clan of ninjas called the foot, and things like that, THAT'S getting carried away.
...and even then I could still sort of appreciate it for being different.. if it's GOOD, of course.

This show is really good in my book, that's why I welcome the changes with open arms.

Slash is looking SICK.
I'm sure Slash will be a brute when he first starts out. Obviously not used to his brothers' modus operandi, he'll probably ruin a few missions before he gets scolded and left behind until he decides to go solo and turn into the anti-hero we all know.

Then again... "Hamato Yoshi's pet rat Splinter" learned martial arts from WATCHING his master, so.. it's technically valid considering the universe at hand.

As to why they stop calling him Spike... I bet Spike gets lost, then a gigantic Turtle comes back, and Mikey calls him Slash. Then LATER it'll be discovered that Slash was in fact Spike.

just my theory:

after raph has been venting to spike, slash dislikes the others. he trains with them, goes on a few missions, gets the headband and mace we've seen. he acts reckless, does something stupid, maybe defends raph when he does something wrong and im guessing leo corrects him, he attacks them, and either renames himself or mikey renames him after he "slashes" something.

one thing that im not sure about though, is when we first found out about slash, sean astin said they raph and slash become friends instantly. so i wonder if it takes some time for him to turn, or maybe he doesnt.

the voice is creeppy and threatening, and would be perfect as a villain, or if not, maybe partners with leatherhead when he returns. also, really hope to see april meet slash, now that shes back with the group.

im really excited to see him. there are so many ways he could go and i think all of them would work. but with that, if he stays "good" forever or atleast awhile, i hope he doesnt live in the lair and appear always with the other 4. ciro called him the "5th turtle" and i dont really like that. if hes good, hope he has a role like leatherhead, and we see him some but not every episode.

I really do love the voice. Just another example that nick tmnt can do no wrong with comes to voice talent and might be its greatest otherwise. Cory Feldman can sure really play off someone who is manipulative and conniving.

It looks like from the pictures in the Nick Season 2 Info thread that there is a spilled/broken? mutation canister in Raph's room, and that's probably where Spike mutates. It's quite likely, given as the Turtles keep collecting the fallen mutation canisters, and this might be one of them.
Plus you can see Raph in a defensive posture, and Spike on all fours, as if he just mutated.

I really wish you guys would stop nitpicking about the stupidest of things. What you guys are doing right now reminds me too much of BEFORE the premiere of the show when you guys were simply BASHING the designs and ideas. I think they've already proven that they make it work. So, seriously, stop bitching and just wait and see how they do this.

Since that teaser video was posted, I don't think anyone has been nitpicking? A lot of what's being said is excitement. The worst I've seen is people wanting to know why they call him slash, which is fair to ask.

Maybe if Slash feels betrayed by Raph that he chose his brothers over him, maybe he'll go to the Shredder.

He'll train him than Splinter, and later when Slash meets up with the turtles, he'll pulverize them.

Raph has gotta find a way to make Slash realize that he was wrong about his brothers. Once that happens, perhaps he'll leave Shredder and starts thinking of going solo... but will always be there for Raph and the others if anything happens.

Come on guys I think Slash being a permanent good guy is a good idea. Him being the 5th turtle too is a good idea the perfect excuse for him not being with the turtles all the time is that like April he needs to train with Splinter. He can be like leatherhead sometimes and go with them if they need the extra muscle. To me I like the idea of Slash being the 5th turtle because like ciro said in a interview on YouTube he said that he "want this incarnation of tmnt different then the others". Plus there are good writers on the team they can make slash into a likeable 5th turtle unlike the most hatred character Venus de milo at least you don't have to worry about the turtles saying their not brothers by blood just so one of them can get lucky. Also why people have a problem with Slash being a good guy but don't have a problem with Leatherhead since in the 80's cartoon he was a bad guy, but in the 2003 and 2012 he a good guy so what's the difference?

I think his character arc should be like Spike from Buffy The Vampire Slayer (pun not intended). As in he should start off as a bad guy and Then LATER ON become an ally.
