The Holiday Season? I thought we were waiting for Donnie's arm to fully heal?

Glee had their holiday episode last week and won't be returning until February, and Chicago Fire is having their fall finale tonight. So, it doesn't surprise me that this is happening.
Do you know if this holiday hiatus trend was going on when we were all kids or is this a more recent occurrence? Seems like with kids' shows at least, we got new episodes more frequently. Although the seasons of most kids' shows were usually shorter back in the 90's, so the bigger 26 episode orders for Saturday morning TV could have something to do with that kind of thing. Just curious. Was also hoping we'd get a Christmas episode for TMNT 2012 this year but no dice lol! Has anyone else been doing 2012 marathons during the break or is it just me?

Have fun! I haven't gotten to season 2 yet but am close. I've been buying each episode as soon as they've been released on amazon because I just can't wait so long between DVD releases. I plan on rewatching all 7 s2 eps within the week if time allows. There's a tun of Christmas shopping I have to do so I hope I get around to it as I've been waiting all month to see these a second time.

Haven't done an actual marathon but I have been watching the reruns on Nick when they air just for something to watch.

As for the holiday hiatus trend, I don't remember that when I was a kid, but it's been so long now, I don't remember a lot of things from back then. Still, I'm not too worried about it and am able to wait as long as I can for it to come back, though I do hope it won't be a long break.

Rob said on twitter that he doesn't think there's a Christmas special/episode.

I know we were clutching at straws but there you have it.

Marcelangelo, I've also watched season 1 quite a few times. That's not normal for me these days. I could do that more when I was a kid but there's something about this show. Yeah I liked the 1st 2 parter as well. Wondering if we're going to get a 2 part finale in s2. I was surprised that we got a single episode season premier but liked it just fine. Need to remember to watch Follow The Leader after Mutation Situation. I'm glad the second season has only had one episode aired out of order so far.

Bubbly, I wish I had your patience lol. I think I'm doing ok in spite of buying my TV pass for s2 on amazon. I bet the show will return some time in mid Jan, but hopefully earlier.

I don't know. I'm sure there were in-season pauses, mostly due to things like the World Series and March Madness, which no one even wants to try to compete with, and who could blame 'em? But I don't remember as many in-season hiatuses, and certainly the mid-season finale has become more of a trend now than it used to.

A lot of the shows I watch have this trend of showing like 2 or 3 episodes, then nothing new for a month, then 1 or episodes, nothing again for another 2 or 3 weeks, then finally you get like a bunch of episodes at once, and then the trend continues, and I just hate that. Luckily, I don't think this show has been bad with that, but it does seem puzzling that they wouldn't at least do a Christmas episode, since that is often a big TV tradition, which I kinda sorta love in a cheesy way.

Maybe they'll do a new years episode, and leave Christmas with the Turtles for a later season. After all the 2k3 Christmas episode where Michaelangelo found Clunk was during the third season.

And as Ciro had pointed out, they are given an allowance for two sets at a time. So I can see him wanting to save the set budget for some other things in show. But that doesn't mean that a Holidays season episodes couldn't be brought in later.

lol not at all cheesy. Seems like Christmas episodes were more of a traditional thing in the 90's. Not sure if many shows do that anymore. Turtles seems like it might just pull off a few holidaycentric episodes some time on down the line a bit. I'm glad TMNT 2012 doesn't do the mid season/season cliffhangers. Or at least it hasn't yet lol.

Victoryangel: Oo yeah I'd love a new year's episode. I'm actually hoping we'll get one this holiday season but tryin not to get my hopes up too high. Nick might bring Turtles back around the 2nd or 3rd week of Jan, I'm thinking. I hear it's supposed to be the Kirtzman ep which I'm really excited about.

I looked up the original shows run on wikipedia along with tv.com... basically they ran them all screwy... the first season played in a week, the second played every Saturday, the third everyday, then the 4th-10th varied between everyday, one on Saturday and two on Saturday... the weird thing was that the new seasons always started in September and they usually ended in December with a few August episodes... So basically they showed a bunch of new episodes for 3-4 months and that was it... Here's the link if anyones interested

That April thing was disturbing enough upon first glance, but then I noticed that it's got a regular April head growing out of it? That's really creepy.

Heh, I have no idea what the execution will be like, but it is quite a bold design for Saturday morning kid's show!
