Like somehow black/hip-hop culture is the worst thing that could be injected into the franchise. It's not all Cybercubed either. I don't like it one bit.
I think/hope it's just people worrying that the turtles or Mikey will turn into Skidds & Mudflap, because Bay's name is attached, and not something more irking behind.

That's the impression I got. Personally, I think Mikey should act like a hip-hop kid, but a real hip-hop kid, not a racist parody like the aforementioned characters in Transformers 2.

Honestly, I don't know why anyone wouldn't want hip-hop influence in a Turtles movie. The first live action film had a hip-hop soundtrack, and it gave so much atmosphere to the film. Fastforward to TMNT in 2007 with it's skate punk soundtrack, and it just didn't fit the Turtles at all. TMNT is a franchise that needs hip-hop as an influence.

There's going to be a laundry list of problems with this film. That's not one of them.

Dont be surprise if you hear a little bit of Dubstep thrown in.

Well the actors are...which could be cause for concern. Because depending on who the actor playing Mikey is it could come off as a genuine portrayal of a Turtle into hip-hop culture or like others have mentioned it could be Skids and Mudflaps redux, only now he's a MAIN character and not a pair of side characters.

Well Michelangelo did turn into a human in the OT episode, "The gangs all here." And he became a normal white boy with orange hair.

That same show turned Baxter Stockman into Jerry Lewis, so...

I prefer Christopher Lloyd, but to each their own.

I've seen some fanart of Leo as Japanese and Raph as black

I think they can be whatever race.

but since they did get some DNA from splinter in the Nick show...they could be Japanese....or at least half Japanese (in Nick)

Except not even a little bit. I don't have the slightest clue how you keep drawing this connection. What could be more stereotypically white than a puka shell necklace, beads, and a hoodie tied around the waist? What's giving you this impression?

I admit, that was terrible. But so was everything in the 3rd act (outside of the Turtles' fight/stunt sequences).

Everything prior to the subway sequence was great.

And yeah, the female turtles...... that....... god.

That falls under the "everything else" that I mentioned.

I really wanted to love that script, but the third act was so ****ing horrible.

Yeah....... no.

Just going off of what they wanted to do with him, and did with him, in the original script, he was just regular old quasi surfer/stoner stereotype mikey.

If any of the Turtles was urban, it was Raph. But Raph has always been portrayed as the street wise turtle, so there you go.

Isn't that what every Ninja Turtles TV show and movie is though? Action/comedy?
