I don't really get why they called it....Ninja turtles...

I didn't like how they called the Avatar the last airbender movie

Last airbender XD

I guess it's to tell them apart from the show?? and the past movies?

or in Avatar's case not being associated with giant blue kitties XD

Ninja turtles doesn't really bother me though.

They went with Ninja Turtles original because the turtles were going to be aliens from another dimension.

But that pissed everybody off so they decided to make them mutants again and change the title back to what it should be.

Heh, I quite like that...

Anyway I much prefer 'Ninja Turtles' over 'TMNT'. When the cg movie came out, it always kinda bothered me in interviews, etc when they all kept saying 'tee em em tee'.

To be fair I doubt that anyone would have cared about the title had it not been as good as confimation of the awful idea that the turtles were supposed to aliens - something later confimed by that leaked script.

After that they were practically indebted to change the title to send the message the turtles as aliens concept had been changed.

If not for that then the title of simply "Ninja Turtles" would have been fine, I have to laugh though at how small the words "Teenage Mutant" are in that title like the couldn't be bothered coming up with a new logo and just grudgingly sneaked in the other words. Kind of representative of how the whole movie has been made really.

"Ninja Turtles" is fine.

The font they used in that terrible graphic/logo thing on the other hand was awful..

I think avatar had the rights to that movie name first or something. And didn't they come out close to each other? They didn't want confusion I guess.

Honestly, the title is again not the reason why this movie will fail...

But it's TMNT anyway, so...

Maybe it's not too late for them to rename it "Box-Office Poison."

That won't work in my family, since my mom and aunt grew up on a band called The Turtles. Did they ever use their famous song "So Happy Together?" in any Ninja Turtles cartoon or something?

I refer to them as ninja turtles all the time, so I'm ok with it used as a title. That said, I still prefer the full tmnt.

I love their singers Mark Volman and Howard Kaylan (Flo and Eddie)- not only from The Turtles but the stuff they did with Frank Zappa, T-Rex, Alice Cooper and John Lennon.

Sorry, continue ...

I feel it's too basic of a title, kind of underwhelming. I kinda wish it was the full title of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, but I understand that's not really the direction they're going in. My expectations for this film are low, but I've been wrong before.

It is the full. They just changed it back too late for the merchandisers to change it on all the packaging.

Pretty bad management.

it kind of common knowledge toy companies will used abbreviated titles for merchandising. Ala Marvel, Spider-man, Captan america, just about anything. Lego is this one

Started out this

changed to this

Now they use this as an abbreviated version

Seems to me to be all on the same path its not like they used different textures or anything same graphics same font same color seems pretty standard

Actually there is no abbreviated version of the logo.

That packaging was created prior to them finalizing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as the title.

It's actually a significant problem that's setting the progress on the toyline back. Financially, that is.

Guess it's not exactly "common knowledge."

Yeah.

Plus, I personally have never seen film titles abbreviated on the toy packaging.

Ever.

If there's a discrepancy, it's a mistake.
