Fantastic episode this week. Rat King is amazing in this show and the episode was very creepy and well done.
The ice cream cat was pretty funny and I loved Mikey in this episode. Splinter Vs. Rat King was epic. Thought Irma was used well too. |

Wow I loved this episode, it was creepy, dark and intence.
I guess The Rat King's experment idea was a reference to the original TMNT episode The Warerats from Channel 6, were Irma and Vern got mutated in warerats. I didn't not expect Irma to be in this episode and have a bigger role. Splinter was awesome and badass and he wanted a cheesesickle. The Rat King becoming more of a psychopath. ICK was adorable Mikey was great and funny in this episode and also strange when he kept licking ICK Mikey: "Smell the cheese" punches giant rat, Mikey: "Smell the cheese" Punches giant rat again, Mikey: "Come on, smell it" Punches giant rat again lol Are we being teased with all the April/Donny and April/Casey moments Donny, Raph, April and Mikey (being bait with cheese on his head) in the Go Karts, Leo in the Shell Razor and Casey on his bike with gadgets on it trying to stop the giant rats in the streets in the rain was epic. Splinter chasing the Rat King and then fighting him blind was awesome. April protecting Mikey when he nearly got attack by Splinter. (I can't help but noticing that Dark moments The cat mutating into ICK was disturbing Wow that failed experiment was disturbing. Splinter asking Leo to kill him if got out of contol. Splinter trying to kill Leo Irma switching on a fan and a rat gets shredded (off screen) and then Donny nearly falls into the fan. The Rat King falling to his 'death' (I got a feeling he will be back) |

Anyone have a Screencap of the failed experiment? I couldn't really make it out on my tiny tv screen.

With the John Steinbeck reference to the title, there are far more references to the OT- from Cowabunga on a building, Channel 6 (even with another reporter being kidnapped much like OT April in "Enter the Rat King", the Rat King demanding an army of "subjects", and Splinter even briefly going against the turtles from that same episode. Even one of the sound effects used when the TV turns on or off from the OT was used! I'm honestly not a fan of this Irma mostly due to the character design, though she has an OK voice and at least has some klutziness. Ice Cream Kitty isn't bad since I feel that if you love Hello Kitty, you'll like ICK, plus we get to hear the co-creator! At least this was one of the best Splinter-focused episodes, from a deep zen like we've never seen that felt terrifying at times that leads right to the climatic ending without a falling action. Before that, there was some good chase scenes trying to catch the Rat King, and it did have some good suspense in terms of wondering if those prisoned rats would transform into more rats. I wonder if next week's mutant will become Wyrm, so stay tuned for that.
Overall: 8/10

I liked the episode, felt the ending was rushed.
When they're still fighting when the end credits are rolling, you know you won't get much follow up, and I did want a little something extra. Not quite a Top 5 episode in my book, but still enjoyed it. |

They had a lot to cram into this episode, I don't mind the abrupt ending as there really wasn't much to say afterward. I'm sure the Turtles will talk about the ice cream cat in the next ep.

All I'd like to know, is what the heck is going on under New York's streets, I mean apart from incredibly large sewers, seriously that area where the Rat King and Splinter duked it out (while awesome to see) was like a realm from some Lovecroftian Nightmare. I mean, if that's what it looks like underground, New York is well on its way to an abysmal death...I mean, what is holding up that city?
Which is leading me to believe that this universe ties into Futurama, because that's what New York looks like in that show, complete with mutants... (okay, that's a stretch, but still)... |

I really love everything about this version of the Rat King - his design, his voice, even the design of his lair. Both of his episodes have been awesome.
Fantastic third act especially the Splinter/Rat King chase and fight. |

I've loved Rat King in every TMNT incarnation (Mirage, OT, 4kids, Archie), and the Nick version is spectacular.

I wonder how The Rat King survived that fall, if he even did.

Whenever a villain in a cartoon falls down into a giant pit its a sure bet they come back alive in their next appearance with no explanation how they survived. Its pretty common tactic in virtually all action cartoons.

Can't argue with that. But seeing as how he Willingly jumped, I don't think he'll be in the limelight for quite some time.

Great episode with splinter fighting, Irma getting kidnapped, and Casey getting over his fear of rats...for now.
Finally we get Irma in episode for more then a minute or two. She is also being the detective type as well. |

Great episode!
**Loved Ice Cream Kitty. Adorable, yet a little creepy at the same time. It's transformation was a bit on the disturbing side, though. I cracked up when Mikey threw it at the Rat King. **Splinter was awesome. Enough said. **I'm really impressed with the show's take on the Rat King. Very dark and creepy. **Casey is really growing on me. I'm looking forward to the next episode

I too love this version of Rat King. His appearance and the voice actor they chose is freaky and very fitting. The ending was great and I loved seeing Splinter in the limelight. Rat King falling to his supposed death is a smart choice as they can bring him back or leave it at that. I would be happy either way. It was great seeing him in the new series, which has made for several solid episodes. The only part that I did not enjoy was the ice cream kitty. I was hoping that the cat would become Klunk (still might if it is un-mutated). Overall, it was a very enjoyable episode and I am looking forward to the one hour special!
