Should Donnie just move on from April?

I like Donnie, and it's natural to root for the guy you like to get what they want, but Casey is definitely the better choice for April right now. He's confident and clear in his intentions, while Donnie is being the "Nice Guy" who pines for her in secret while showing open jealousy toward any "rival" for her affections, as well as some stalkerish tendencies. He's not really respecting April's own freedom and desires as much as his own, and that means he's currently incapable of being in an actual romantic relationship. I'm hoping that this storyline ends with Donnie accepting April isn't "his", realizing his mistakes and growing as a person. That'd be very refreshing, actually.

And of course, he could then shift right into a crush on Irma.

I seem to recall some subtle hints in one of the "Nano" episodes specifically, and generally the two being pretty close. But yeah... it wasn't anywhere near as blatant as in the Nick series.

There was never any backstory about April and who she was when the turtles and Splinter were mutated in any incarnation of the franchise, nor did her being a kid have any merit or meaning to it, but in this show, it was backstoried for you to put the pieces together.

The whole point of April being a teenager was basically the story that The Turtles and Splinter were mutated around the same time April was born and that Kraang arrived in New York to try and find her.

Because if April was never born, the Kraang would have never been in New York. So in a way, April was the link to not only the Kraang, but also the link to the turtles and Splinter becoming who they became.

And this basically became a 15 year culmination of the turtles and April almost being destined to meet each other one day. And that the first human the Turtles meet and know, is the very human that is responsible for them being who they are.

The thing when it comes to Donnie is that, deep down Donnie almost subconsciously realized from the moment he saw April, he knew that this girl was important to him and them as a whole, and while the others joked and mocked him about it, the fact is it's true, for if it wasn't for April, they wouldn't be who they are today. And when you watch the more recent episodes when Donnie becomes much more protective of her, you almost begin to gain the mindset that he has realized that as time has gone on, which makes her mean even more to him.

Maybe that's just me though...

I think you may be on to something there. However the one major flaw is that Karai was at least 6 months old when she was abducted by the Shredder and Splinter had said that his daughter would have been the same age April was. So in someway April in someways also reflects what Miwa would have been like if the Shredder hadn't abducted her.

That would mean April would be roughly 16 years old. So I wouldn't say the Turtles were and Splinter weren't mutated around the time April was born. But they were mutated not long after she was born. So your theory about April being the connection force to the Turtles and the Kraang and their destined meeting does hold of weight.

I mean we don't know why Splinter chose to get four turtles that day. Four in is a number that isn't widely used in Eastern culture, because the number four is linked to Death. And we don't no how long Splinter himself has been living in New York before he bought the Turtles.

What I would think would make for an interesting scenario, is maybe one day have Raphael not liking how April seems to be teasing and leading Donnie along at the moment, and snaps off at her for it (this could be the reason there is tension between Raph and April, in that Raph is resenting this whole thing because he's afraid his brother is going to get real hurt in the end from it. He's just trying to protect his brother, in his own way)

Yeah. I could see that happening. Raph taking April aside and asking what her feelings were for Donnie. She would naturally say she thinks of him as a friend. Raph would then paint it out for her and tell her that Donnie is in love with her.

Yes, and she has enough of a mind to let him know if the creepiness is a problem. There are other times where she does show obvious signs that the likes and appreciates the fact Donnie is there for her.

I wouldn't say the worst, just has a lot of annoyances to him. When you say SOTO, do you mean Secret of the Ooze? If so, I disagree. Secret of the Ooze was the best movie portrayal of Donatello.

Raph has already made it pretty clear he believes Donnie has no shot with April (love that scene) and told him. He can't control if Donnie chooses to keep pursuing her. I don't really see why he'd fault April, either. She can't control what she is or isn't into. It's not her fault Donnie is obsessed with her.

Y'know, I've gotta agree on that one. It was probably the only thing about TMNT2 that I preferred to the first movie, but Donnie's personal struggle with their origins and all-around scientific usefulness was a big step up from him being... well, Corey Feldman. That version just wasn't very distinct from Michelangelo, and that did both of their characters a huge disservice.

I do like the Nick version of Donnie overall, and I appreciate that they're trying to make him more "teenage" in a lot of ways (he's got some insecurity and social issues that he needs to develop out of). I just hope that they use the April/Casey relationship as a way to foster some character growth for him. They've set it up very well so far, I just hope they follow through instead of maintaining the status quo indefinitely. The unrequited crush thing needs to end at some point, preferably sooner than later.

But it is her fault when she keeps hugging him, forcing his head into her lap, making a fuss over him when he is injured, and then kissing him on the cheek. That's a tease. A tease does just that, gives a little, but then takes it back. Could she be confused about the whole thing and doesn't know how to deal with it, sure, but knowing Raph, he isn't going to be seeing it that way. He's already annoyed by her trying to join them in their missions, I'm sure playing with Donnie's heart has gotta be kicking up that "protect my brothers" mode in him.

I Agree...April does seem to be leading Don on. Wether she means to or not...she is doing it.
