Should Donnie just move on from April?

I have to admit, I had a small crush on a girl that did act all huggy, sweet, nicknamey, and affectionate towards me. Hey, I thought she was interested and maybe I had a shot. So yeah, I kinda got the hint by myself that I wasn't really anyone special or whatever, it's the just the way she acted towards everyone. Kinda sucked, but I moved on.

April needs to tone it down around Don or 'spread the love' the other Turtles.

I think ultimately the other Turtles and April don't know what to do with each other. The Turtles respect April as an ally. But they don't feel any real need to get to know her beyond the fact that she is an ally and Donnie likes her.

Majority of the time they seem to feel that the less involved she is in their problems the less problems she will have.

April also seems to take the other Turtles as friends, but she doesn't really care to know them because she knows all they really think of her is "Donnie's human friend, who happens to be a girl" She want's to prove that she is a member of the team and that she is just as useful as the rest of them. But feels the other Turtles are not letting her have the opportunity to prove herself. So she typically just takes the Turtles as face value with Leo being the leader, Mikey being the knucklehead, and Raph being the mean one.

I wish the writers would try harder to get April involved with the other 3 turtles....I feel it's kinda lazy to just have her talk to Donnie, like they don't want to go the extra mile to have her interact with all the turtles.

Again, I would like the writers to "spread the love."

April is not the only person to call Donnie, "D." Mikey has also called him, "D." I'm not really liking the "D" nickname, period, but that's a different point.

She SHOULD call the others and maybe she does sometimes and we don't see it. I don't believe April is Don's not-girlfriend at this point. She is being poorly written, however--- if Don is interested, he should SAY something. It's not up to the person someone is interested in to know that someone is interested and change all their actions based on whether they could possibly hurt that person's feelings.

And, yes, rejection is a fear, but that is not a unique fear to ANYBODY. That is a fear experienced by everybody (except really arrogant people and even then they just deal with it in a different way than the average person).

I agree with this. There could be tons of ways. I think the first step would be to turn her dad back to a human, because this is just nonsense and is holding her character back.

Then, she can go on. I'd like to see an episode where she gets her first car, and it breaks down, and it's Raphael that comes out to help her fix it.

Maybe there could be something where she teaches Mikey on how to cook normal people food, and maybe they could bond over the culinary arts.

And maybe Leo could help her with her training.

And then, there is Karai, where she and Karai could bond over their lost mothers. There are definitely other ways to write her than as some love interest or someone that can be pushed around (which Irma kind of does)

SO MANY great situations can come from April interacting more~ it would probably make the whole show better also.

it's so simple too....just start with her talking to someone other than Donnie. (and Casey)

And I see you forgot to add the teenage part of it. Which, well, is probably the years that will shape you up to who you become as a grown up later on in life. The Ninja parts are cool, but I like the down times more!

But, April is. For the most part, and we are just throwing out ways that she can interact with the other Turtles besides Donnie. So, what's the problem again? In most incarnations, Mikey was the cook of the family, Leo was probably the most mature to take on a student, and Raph has been known to be knowledgable about cars (him and Casey both actually)

If Raph could have a pet turtle, and Mikey could get acne, and Donnie and Leo could get crushes, why not have some more normal sh!t.

So it seems results are mixed when it comes to Donnie's crush.

You know I actually used to support this pairing back in Season 1. But now I really think that April needs to be more fleshed out as a character and Donnie's crush needs to be less exaggerated.
I mean in 2k3 he at least got to know her before he started crushing on her and they both shared a common love for science.

In this show can you tell me some things they have in common or give us any reason for why Don should be in love with her other than the fact that she's the "Beautiful Girl Next Door" he saw at first sight?

To be fair I guess we don't even know too much about April other than the fact that she's an Alien mutant, training to be a kunoichi, is doing poorly in Trig yet somehow is tutoring Casey....
