Every human who became a mutant was originally shown to be a prominent character before they changed besides ones that debuted in the same episode like the bird guy.

Snakeweed, Spiderbitez, Rahzar, Fishface, Baxter, Mutagen Man, Kirby, Rat King, etc. were all introduced properly before being mutated.

While the Dragons haven't been exactly properly introduced... they've been in enough episodes for people to know who they are without anyone saying 'huh? where those guys come from?' If anything, Sid kinda/sorta got his own episode.

I hate when people say they got "lazy with designs". That's incredibly ignorant of you to think that artists who spend endless hours on something, lazy. It's incredibly disrespectful to the dozens of artists it takes to create these characters we love and I think your taste is just different from what they're delivering.

Lazy would incur that they put zero effort into designing these characters, but I think you're blind. Bebop obviously looks to be futuristic or tech oriented. There has to be some decision as to why he's not just a street thug if he's decked out like that. It also looks to have infused with his skin, meaning we could see some awesome abilities from him. That doesn't sound lazy, that sounds complicated and awesome.

Rocksteady seems to be a mercenary of some sort infused with metal. That looks badass. So he must have been some kind of blunt weapon wielding badass that fights the turtles later. It looks like a golden hammer of some sort. You can even see sprinkles of gold on his skin. Those details, take plenty of thought and effort to execute. Across all boards, from coming up with the idea of the character, the designers drawing them, the painters making up the colors, THEN on top of that, making into 3D.

Dude, you need a reality check, these guys are awesome and the people making them seem to be kicking ass at making them.

"Lazy with designs" means that they are being lazy when designing them, not when they are rendering them. I don't get what they are trying to do here, they look way more like a caricature than other charachters in the show, and the desingns aren't that great themself, does he need golden teeth or golden hand things? i mean he's a fricking rhinoceros. It's ok that people like them but to me they lool like crap. I'd rather have something like this

Your term still doesn't mean they were lazy when designing them. Do you know what it takes to design something? What you're looking for isn't what they created so automatically it was lazy? If we're going by that standard, then the IDW versions you posted are pretty lazy and uninspired as well. They stuck pretty close to their 80's counterparts, with similar color schemes and outfits. At least with what the Nickelodeon people are doing are creating more of a narrative with their characters.

I don't think they look "caricatures" at all. We have giant wolves and fish and a tiger man, but you think that these two are caricatures? Yes Rocksteady is a fricking rhinoceros, but he doesn't NEED anything. But the fact that he has gold on him means SOMETHING. That means the way they were mutated had something to do with HOW they're going to fight. Hmm an extremely powerful rhinoceros now has gold metal imbued into his fists? I'd rather see that than another gun or knife.

It's totally fine for you to not like them, but you calling the designs lazy is extremely disrespectful. I would love to know how you would feel if someone called your work lazy, when they don't have a shred of knowledge of what it takes to do your job. Call them crap, fine, that's just your taste and I can respect that. But calling them lazy is awful.

I wouldn't call them lazy designs.

Simple designs (which is not necessarily a bad thing) yes. But not lazy

Somewhere in a dark corner in the Nick building, Ciro is drawing out the sketchwork for the scene where Sid becomes Rocksteady and some random white guy becomes Bebop... just to piss Cybercubed off. 'This will teach him to run me off their forum... HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!" -lightning strikes-

I am happy they are finally going to appear in the show. But I am worried about Shredder's ever expanding Stable of thugs. Fishface has become practically none existent this season.

I actually really do enjoy these updated looks. I like it when Rocksteady is drawn to be bigger than Bebop. and I would love to see Barry Gordon, and Cam Clarke return to do the voices.

Just Chris, Xever, and I guess now Baxter. Karai still isn't a mutant and he lost Tiger Claw rather quickly. The rest are robot Foot.

The episode with Murakami dealt with Leo sparing Sid (or Fong? The skinny one) a couple of times. In the end when Chris and Xever had the turtles beat, he threw in Leo's sword to give them a fighting chance.

YES! THANK YOU! Right on the head here. People also don't get how many hours and days and meetings the design process takes up. It's not like someone slopped this together. There were probably several different designs created before these were chosen.
As an artist myself, and someone studying graphic design, and eventually animation, I can almost guarantee that probably months were spent sketching out different ideas, and there were probably NUMEROUS meetings on what should be added, changed, etc. Lazy would indicate they just whipped something up and put it out. I can promise that wasn't the case here.

Yes.

In all seriousness, it seems like TMNT's fanbase has a laaaaaarge portion of folks who became artists because of the green team, myself included.

Man I wish I could draw. Ever since I was a kid I always tried to draw but never could, so I simply traced stuff off of official art.

I guess being an artist is just something you have to be born with, just like the people who have musical talent or mathematical ability. If you're not born with these things you just can't do it.

Nope. Like any profession, without constant practice and learning new skills, just being lazy and not doing anything won't get you anywhere.

If you want to learn new things like drawing, music, diving, new language etc.. just ****ing do it. No one's stopping you, only you put limits on yourself all this time.
