One's a giant commercial just for the next one to me unfortunately. They lack an organic, interesting self contained quality to them. That's why besides uninteresting characters, or iconic mythos this is a pass for me. I don't want to support a hype machine that has people overrating the quality merely because they've invested so much in all the other attached mini franchises under the Marvel Studios umbrella.
They're like different series of comics. They're aware of their shared world, but, I think, stand alone just fine. The Avengers films are like the giant crossovers that happen from time-to-time. Yeah, it's all a big scheme to get you to spend more, in order to get the whole story. But so are Marvel and DC comics.

The big Marvel comics event, right now, Original Sin, involves a miniseries by that name, but also crosses over with about 10 ongoing Marvel titles. I'll read the Original Sin miniseries, and the three of the involved comics I already follow. But I will also be ducking into one more title for the duration of the event, and I might just get hooked. That's their plan. And, for comic book movies, it's been working like a dream. Marvel movies keep getting bigger. And following the Avenger franchise is a lot cheaper...

Yeah, I'm really loving the irreverent approach to the marketing with this film. Not something that would work for a lot of movies, but I think it's a good fit with this one.

I absolutely love the way Marvel blends humor into their films. This movie looks like it's going to give us more humor than any before, and I can't wait. DC is catering to the people who want serious, grim, dark comic book movies, and that appeals to some, but personally I prefer a more lighthearted touch to my superheroes.

I don't understand the point you're trying to make here. I think it's the phone typos...no offense.

I think they don't need to design the suit for "added mobility" in this new live action film, since the turtles are created in a computer. It can be possible to create a rigid, realistic turtle shell design and still have the turtles do flips and kicks and hulk smash without having to resort to a silly putty look. The entirety of the turtles are just CGI, they don't need to worry about the "mobility" of the actors portraying them.

Unless your point is it is deliberately designed the way it is for "mobility", so the turtles can be more flexible on screen. Then, you're right...i don't agree with that.

They have designed a new turtle who keeps the protective shell while still keeping the mobility needed to perform Martial arts and acrobatics,

The turtles having"ridged" shells that Flex Enough to allow for the things listed above,(and sorry but soft shell turtle dont count can they seriously be nearly folded in half, NO)just doesn't work, so they created a plated Plastron.

Ridged Shell can't flex or bend in a way that allow full martial arts mobility

But that still doesn't make any sense of removing the bridges, that won't make it more flexible, as the still have ribs under, and the ribs would still be connected to the carapace and plastron, because the ribs are a major part of a turtle's shell.

And why doesn't a turtle of the softshell family count? They are flexible, no? How about the pancake tortoise then? Or Hinge-backs?

Just because the design is of a creature that doesn't exist, or can't exist in the real world, there still need to be a sense of logic. Same foes for all fantasy type creature, such as winged people. You don't put their wings on their ass, nor remove the secondary feathers on the wings, cause doing that on real birds would make them unable to fly. Or giving a humanoid creature four arms, the extra set of arms needs to look like they actually comes from that creature, the creature needs a skeletal structure and extra musculature to support the context of having a extra set of arms.

These turtles. These bipedal, pose able thumb having, teeth showing turtles, do need a certain amount of flexibility to walk upright. And removing the shell bridges, adding muscles on the sides that folds over the ribs on a human does not add mobility and flexibility. It just adds stupid, like an angel with ass wings.

And then there's the plastron abs... Ugh...

do know know what it take to Do a back hand spring of a full, heck and cartwheel all involves bending completely in half, not to mention martial arts where the body bends and flexes in ways no "ridged" shell would nor a "soft shell"

Then, why do overly acrobatic stunts in the first place?
The turtles are trained in budo and bujutsu. My personal experience with Japanese martial art is there is not a whole lot of BS performance acrobatics, and more to the point.

But, it is a Hollywood movie... There needs to be roundhouse kicks, cartwheels and somersaults instead of walking up the enemy and just maki uchi men that sucker to oblivion.

No it doesn't. I dont even. These are HUMANOID, Bipedal, opposable thumbs having, teeth showing turtles that need a certain amount of flexibility to walk upright. As well ass needing added Flexibility to do thing like this

Notice how there body bend and flex and an Important part of any of the actions are the Abs and rib MUSCLES have a bridge the hinders this mobility would not work in a real world situation, And just animating it to be flexible Become Cartoony and fake(you dont question it in the nick show because its a cartoon), Just look at the Flip leo does He compresses his knees fully to his chest something a ridged shell, or a shell similar to a soft shell turtle could not do

And then there's the plastron abs... Ugh...[/QUOTE]

Yup Turtles have never been flashy nope.

Seriously make up your mind you either want martial arts like seen in the Human TMNT video or you don't which is it?

I think yes... to the overall question TMNT is my favorite comic/cartoon/heros of all time and I have never even heard of the Guardians of the Galaxy Before, but the movie does look way better based on what has be seen (but a new Turtles trailer could change that) money wise I think they will fair pretty evenly, even though the new turtles film looks rather disappointing I think it will make money based on the name alone, while Guardians doesn't quite have that going for them as much.

Marvel is obviously not for you, then. Nothing really wrong with that, but that doesn't make them bad movies. It's the same thing I've been telling people that have been complaining about Godzilla not having enough monster fighting. If you want that sort of thing, watch Pacific Rim, but Godzilla is and always has been (the good movies anyway) about human-based plots that provide dramatic buildup to a relatively small amount of onscreen monster fights. Marvel is about fun superhero stories that don't take themselves too seriously. It just is what it is.

About Turtles designs: what Candy Kappa said - even if creature doesn't exist, there still should be an internal logic how it works. Unless, this is some B-grade shitfest like Asylum movies, where anything goes.
Personally, in case of this version of the Turtles, I don't think there was logic. For whatever reason, they've recreated them as "reptillian hulks", which is drastically (and needlessly) different from everything that was done before (in mainstream versions) of the franchise. So, I don't think they bothered themselves with internal logic or whatever.

Which is exactly what makes them awesome, especially in the modern world filled with grim / dark / edgy reinterpretations of everything.

What are you talking about? Marvel movies have never been "overly light or fluffy". Not every superhero movie needs to be "dark and edgy" like the Nolan Batman movies.
