Maybe they only had so much page space? I don't know probably not but it might be a reason why

BTW, I have the magazine and the articles only one page. I could probably scan it if anyone's interested.

So what they are saying is that their version is better than any other version because they are bigerer and betterer than previous versions and i love how they took efort to find the crapiest image of every incarnation to make the new ones look better...

Obviously with cgi creatures they can be as agile as they want to make them regardless of how big they are. Same with Mike's chains and Leo's bamboo armor and Don's machinery. None of it will make a noise and certainly like Raph's magic shades will never fall off because it's not really there. That doesn't really stop people from looking at it and thinking "hmm that doesn't seem quite right". |

to me the appeal of stories with martial artist characters has always been the underdog factor with them having to use skill and will to overcome greater odds whether its being outnumbered or outmatched in some way like size or strength. that's what makes their battles thrilling to watch. but when the good guys look as big and strong as they do here all the tension is gone. Seriously what normal human is going to stand a chance against a highly trained creature of hulking stature who can apparently crush a vehicle under his weight?

You are missing my point Garry, they are suposed to be Ninjas, not body builders, Martial Artist and Body builders have completly diferent body types, one has small but well defined and lean body while other is just blown up like a ballon, it's way easier to move if you have a smaller body. Of course they can move unristricted when you do them in CG but it looks completly unnatura when you look at the way they are designed. Maybe they have full prison style weight lifting gear down in the sewers and pump their muscles every day, who knows...

We know the TMNT are gonna be CGI. We know they're basically cartoon characters cut and pasted to interact with Fitchner and Megan. The thing is, when you watch the movie, you're not supposed to know it's fake. You're supposed to lose yourself into the movie and just go with it. That'll be hard to do if we giant-sized two-ton Turtles somehow able to do backflips and cartwheels. The obvious fakeness of it all will take us out of it and distract us from the movie.

The issue with the Foot, for me at least is that TMNT have a very unusual style portraying the Foot Clan's "ninja uniform" that we (at least I) haven't seen in any previous depictions before in fiction. It's "always" been the mono (usually black) dogi with the atypical mask.
The bug-eyed Foot is so unique, I think it'd would have been a great add-on to a movie franchise of having very recognizable enemies, like the Stormtroopers in Star Wars. The PD Foot Soldiers, look very generic military, save the grimy kabuki mask. Even the Foot Soldier action figure looks like a generic soldier GI Joe toy. |
