It'd have to be a Dudes in Solidarity protest, or the marketing departments won't really care.

Really...what we should be doing is making and selling our own toys, and then waiting for the inevitable Cease and Desists.

That doesn't mean we shouldn't try, and it's not much skin off our noses. I don't much feel like buying the latest TMNT toys anyway, let alone anything from Titans Go.

Oh it's mostly the fact that there's a limited range of women's Turtles shirts to begin with, and the few that are available are usually stuff like that - that's what chaps my hide. I like to have options - and nearly every Turtles shirt that I own is a mens' shirt (with the exception of the shirts I've bought from Redbubble as they offer women's cuts).

I don't think that a woman has to wear XYZ in order to have credibility or to be a good feminist - I just like some diversity when I'm choosing my choices. It'd be nice to have the same range of options that men have with their nerd clothing. As it stands, I'm a bit of a tomboy as it is, and sometimes I get a bit insecure over basically having the wardrobe of a 12 year old boy - ie, jeans and baggy mens shirts.

Sometimes I'd like to be a stylish, chic nerd, y'know?

Oh, I hear you there, Penny. I like how WWE is going with women's apparel for their stuff and I know the NFL is doing the same thing having options for women, so it's a start. I don't mind getting boys' clothes if that's what I have to do, but I agree it would be neat to start having some women's Turtles apparel for those of us who want it.

Yeah, more variety would be nice. We're not all girly girls, including those of us who wouldn't really qualify as a tomboy either. Socieity acts as if only girly girls exist though.... *sigh*

Bet you this new movie isn't gonna offer really anything in terms of women's Turtle movie apparel either... Typical movie-souped up hyper-masculine characters, right...

Only TMNT tee I presently own is one I recently made myself with that fan-made edit. (Yes I totally love that pic and could hug whoever made it.)

Well if the casting of Megan Fox wasn't a glaring beacon broadcasting the fact that the target audience of the movie is men who enjoyed Transformers and kids, I don't know what is. For those of us who don't get sweaty over the idea of watching Fox in yoga pants... tough cookies, right?

I've got no issue with those who do find Fox attractive, nor do I really have an issue with Fox herself as a person - it's just quite galling to me that they didn't cast an April with a bit of a wider appeal - someone who has looks and talent so if you aren't inclined towards ogling April for whatever reason, you can still enjoy her character. Having Fox as April makes me feel excluded, like I'm going into a movie that's for guys only - I don't know if anyone else feels the same way. Needless to say, I've got a real bug up my butt about it!

I've heard she can't act worth a lick though I'd never personally paid the woman enough mind to make up an opinion.

But that line in that trailer... Maybe it's premature to go by one line, but "No, that's sstoupid... They're ninjas."

Can't decide what her "motivation" is, dimwit or wanting to sleep with said ninjas. Or... audience.

Edit: Her fans will hate me for saying so, but to be honest how she said "that's sstoupid..." reminded me of... http://youtu.be/BHqgHFcmAOc

You know what'd be awesome?

A TMNT continuity based around the turtles' attractiveness. Make jokes about the fact that these muscular turtle-men are always naked. Throw in some fanservice. Make it all completely intentional, but not a parody meant to poke fun at women's sexuality. Make it like George of the Jungle. It's 2014, we need more media like this.

It'd be insanely controversial and the butthurt resulting from it would be 100% hilarious. And it'd definitely highlight that there are indeed a lot of girls that enjoy watching these sort of things. I can't tell you how many girls I knew that watched DBZ when I was a kid, and most of them readily admitted that it was watching shirtless guys fight that gave it appeal to them.

Also, these types of fans are usually much more fun to converse with, because they care about things that aren't "who could beat who in a fight".

I can assure you many male fans have the same attitude towards the protagonists of female-centered shows.

Hahah So long as we're dropping the 'teen' part... Ohh my... Not a bad idea.

*looks at my own avatar and at Netkeeper* Both of you, just laying out a trail of cookies into 'awkward territory'... lol

(Sadly I suppose it's best the movie didn't make him look like that, I'm not sure I could survive it.)

Hahaha. Not gonna lie, I might have wanted to go see the movie if their faces looked like that. Ah well, I'm happy with my muscular 2k3 babes.

But here have a mental image of a really attractive Leo saying "I love being a turtle".

You know, I found one at Wal-Mart a while back that has the classic Turtles manhole pose, but has "Sorry, I only date ninjas" on it, like that one does, and I snatched it right up, both because it was TMNT (and for women) and because for me, it made for a fun inside joke on my fan-fics. No one who sees me wear it would know that I write that stuff unless I told them, but anyone who knows I'm into those would get the joke. It's one of my fave shirts now!

Heh, that's awesome Marvel - I now have this mental image of you wearing it under a button-up shirt, super-hero style... and when you see the fanfic signal in the sky, you tear it off to reveal your "Ninja Date" shirt. For the fanfics!

Hopefully that joke didn't come out sounding weird - it sounded much funnier before I wrote it down.

Well, since I DO wear a regular shirt under my work uniform so I can take the work shirt off when I leave to go home, (and thus avoid sweating in it on my lovely two-mile walk home in all this wonderful Texas summer heat) that isn't too far off, LOL!

Awesome - I do the exact same thing (just without the walking, cuz I'm lazy). Glad the joke ended up making sense - sometimes these things fail in translation and I didn't want to look like an idiot.

Whoa, wait a sec, it gets hot in your part of Texas? I mean, I've only lived here for two years, but I haven't felt anything that was extraordinarily hot to me.

What part do YOU live in? Here in North Central Texas (ie, Dallas/FW area) it gets DA*N hot! Where are you from originally? Death Valley??!!! (No, really. It's not unusual to see 100+ weather by this time of year here. It has actually been relatively "cool' the last year or so.) And then we have the humidity to go with it.....

If we're comparing 100+ weather, I'd like to throw Australia's hat into the ring - combined with some of the most poisonous beasties on earth.

Damn this thread has gone off-topic.
