I'm not planning on seeing this movie anyway, but if all the action scenes are accompanied by "SKREEEE wub wub wub SKREEEE wub wub wub", then that settles it even more - I'd have to leave the theatre clutching my ears.

The difference there being that the Mandarin character was a bit of an outdated "yellow peril" racist stereotype, so doing that character straight in a modern movie would be tricky and potentially problematic. I don't think the same problems apply with the Shredder, so in this case it'd just be adding a "twist" to it for the sake of adding a "twist". And potentially making the Americanized sound-alike name "Eric Sachs" even dumber if the actual Oroku Saki is also kicking around.

Or, say, making a "whoa, you thought the Turtles were gonna be aliens!? Haha, you stupid idiot!" kinda joke in that one trailer? When the producer/writers were the only ones who cooked up and promoted that idea in the first place, and the controversy was in direct response to that? Yet the joke's on us, somehow.

I mean... it's in Russian, right? So there's that. But... I don't see anything here to assuage my fears at all. IMO? The Turtles look like ugly Hulk monsters, they're throwing people around like rag dolls, the visual style is totally obnoxious, the mecha-Shredder is ludicrous and completely misses the point of the character, and there's... was that a joke about Vernon checking out April's ass during an action scene? Yeesh.

Still looks pretty lousy to me, but to each their own!
