I agree completely. Shredder being Japanese is important to his character.
I also feel that Baxter should be black like the original source material and considering that my perspective comes from the original black and white Mirage comics, I think that Zoey Seldana would have been absolutely amazing as April, because she's a great actress and I don't have a set perspective of her original character as being black OR white.
As for Casey, I'm not particularly invested one way or the other, as long as he has a strong, brotherly, love/hate, buddies till the end, and sometimes cuttingly hilarious relationship with Raph. That what has defined Casey for me character wise. That my 2 cents and I own it.

I don't think they will going to change another character's race again after the internet uproar against a white Shredder.
Although I'm not really sure if a black, hispanic or gay Shredder would have caused the same controversy as a white-washed Shredder.

I actually said that she looked like a grasshopper a few years ago, on account of she's all oddly-long and slender with extremely long, thin limbs and large, wide eyes. I forgot she was that chick in GotG until you just reminded me, but now that I think of it... HAH! That's funny when I look at pictures.

She's pretty, I guess... but that's honestly the very first thing I thought when I first saw her, for some reason...

That's really the sad part of the whole Shredder debacle. They should have either stuck with their original plan and kept Fichtner as the Shredder or had a Japanese actor from the start. Trying to switch gears at the last minute, made an incoherent mess and did more of a diservice to both Fichtner and the fans.
