Incredibly solid film... had me smiling the entire time. Really don't know how it could have made me happier... maybe if it had been longer? After Ronin got the infinity gem I felt like he could have put it to a lot more use, sadly due to the realities of being constrained to the film's run time they had to wrap it up a bit fast... but it's really hard to blame the film for that, it has to be what it is.

And I did like the Howard the Duck cameo and I hope he not only shows up again in future films BUT that he starts showing up more in the comics, because he hasn't been doing much except cameos for a long time. He had a few mini series here and there but they never really lead anywhere for him, aside from being interesting in their own right.

It's really awesome to have characters like Rocket and Groot about to be as well known as Wolverine or Iron Man... we live in amazing times guys!

I love Groot! He stole the show for me! The first end credit scene! One of the cutest damn things I've seen at the movies in a while. I also thought it was cute when Drax started patting Rocket on the head, and Rocket was at first going to reject, then just sat there and let the big alien comfort him. The movie had a lot of heart.

This is seriously one of the best cameos in any of these movies for me. What a great character.

EDIT: Actually, thinking about it, this scene proves that ANYTHING is possible in this universe. No one thought that character would show up in a movie again. This is only the start.
Lol. I'm sorry but that character sucks haha. I guess you are correct in that it means anything is possible. But the live-action movie was terrible back in the day, and the character just isn't that good. Speaking as a LONG time marvel comic book reader, It wouldn't have been as bad if he made the cameo during the movie, rather in the post credits. I wanted either ultron or Thanos material in that slot.

Its great to see Howard the Duck now being a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, I hope they show him doing something in the Guardians of the Galaxy sequel.

I saw this with my mom today, and I loved it to bits. It was great and had the right brand of comedy and action. But it left me wondering about

Spoiler:
Who's Peter's true father? I thought it would be elaborated on, but it wasn't revealed, which makes me think it'll be further explored in the sequel. Groot's death was very sad as well, and I had tears in my eyes as Rocket was crying and Drax was comforting him. But he did grow back, and I loved the end scene where he's dancing to "ABC" while Drax is polishing his sword. Didn't see the Howard the Duck cameo, but Mom and I left as the credits were rolling so maybe I didn't notice it. All in all it was still a good movie for sure.

Thanks for sharing that, TC. Makes sense that I didn't notice it.

And I saw that trailer, too, but it sounded like he said, "Take that, Ninja Turtle!" Shots have indeed been fired, and I love it.

I think it was written very well, Ronan the accuser actually seemed a genuine maniacal threat. I was surprised that he won't hang around much longer as I found him more a true villain than what Marvel have put into their movies thus far, Ronan was unrelenting in his quest there was no way he was going to change, something that seems to be in the Marvel villains the possibility of being good whereas Ronan wasn't.

Hehehe just wait for them to really dive into Thanos and his motivations.

And if Dr. Strange goes up against Mephistor, well, that's pretty much the devil himself for Marvel Universe.

But that's one thing Marvel has always been pretty good about: villains who aren't just mustache twirling bad guys who are bad because they're bad guys. They usually have a bit more motivation to why they're doing bad/evil things, often out of a sense of they see it as the right thing to do.

But, yeah, Thanos not so much. Well, I guess technically you could say his motivation is love.

For those curious about who Peter Quill's father is, at least in the comics. Though I wouldn't be surprised if Marvel did the same for the movies.

Spoiler:
Star Lord's father is J'Son, ruler/king/dictator of the Spartax Empire. Well, likely former ruler considering recent events in the comics.

Also, just recently it was revealed that Peter Quill has a sister named Victoria in the comics.

I read that Peter Quill's father is a different person for the Sequel.

What I liked is that the director, James Gunn, was able to maintain his artistic integrity and vision, from start to finish. The producers and people backing him didn't input anything that he didn't envision, from the start.

True, It makes you wonder what went on with Edgar Wright's vision for Ant-Man.
