I hear you, Net, and I remember that episode. I'm talking about the type exactly as described in that episode and how that criminal behaved. That's why I despise feminism. But that's a bit off topic so whatever.

And, no, I'm not going to bother discussing anything with you, Plastron, because you have proven to me that we can't have a straight up discussion about anything. You'd more than likely just ignore half the stuff I say anyway. Screw it. I do agree with you that one's parents should do that, but Splinter probably only told the Turtles that they should avoid humans because humans won't understand who they are. He has never told them about how to treat women because he probably never thought this would happen. But he did do so in "Target: April O'Neil" so I commend him for that. However, I do feel April needs to let him know about his behavior if it makes her uncomfortable because it's the right thing to do. She wasn't creeped out by him following her. She was still mad about her father and was angry that he was following her because of that, but at the end of the episode, she thanked him for being there even when she didn't want him to be. So, your logic of him being creepy is flawed there. But as I said, you think differently than I do. I don't see anything that bothersome about it save for a few instances, and it's been toned down quite a bit in the second season, so it doesn't bother me. To each their own.

Yeah. That's not real feminism. I despise that behaviour too, because it fixes nothing and is still sexist. Feminism is supposed to be about equality. Some people actually don't USE the word feminist to describe themselves [even though they support equality, just like a true feminist would] BECAUSE those people sullied the name. I don't blame them.

While we have no way of knowing right now if Splinter ever taught them how to treat people [people, not just women], I really can't imagine that scenario being in character for Splinter. He's not an idiot, and he knows the turtles will outlive him, so I just can't see him not teaching them how to behave around others and how to respect people. Especially since, for creatures like them, respecting a human may be the difference between life or death.

But you are absolutely right that April needs to speak up.

... well this thread has taken a depressing turn.

Bubbly, I understand why you have certain feelings on feminism - all I'm going to say is that, like with hockey fans, antiquers, Turtles fans etc... some feminists are wonderful, and some are *ssholes.

There are as many different types of feminism as there are stars in the sky - radfem, libfem, anarchist, social, marxist, cultural, separitist, black, womanist, chicana, Asian-American, Native American, multiracial, reformist, post-colonial, third-world, standpoint, libertarian, post-structural, postmodern, french, environmental, trans-feminism, and more. Each of these subsets share some viewpoints and disagree on others, and feminism means different things to different people.

Some of those subsets aren't male-friendly, or trans-friendly - and for them, I have no room. To my mind, feminism should be intersectional or it defeats the whole purpose as a civil rights movement.

The thing to keep in mind is that a lot of feminist arguments also advance mens' rights, because sexism hurts men as well as women (for example, the notion that "real men" shouldn't show emotion, shouldn't be able to cry, should have to be the sole wage-earners etc.)

Anyway, not meaning to derail - just hoping that you don't tar all feminists with the same brush. As I said, I don't hate men - I identify as male part of the time and my partner is one, so for me to hate men would be an act of pointless self-loathing. It's definitely not about hating men (for my part), or wanting to take rights away from anybody, just levelling the playing field. I understand if it's not something you're interested in discussing and I'm not trying to change your mind - just sharing my own perspective.

I'd like to point out that slut shaming indeed doesn't mean "calling someone a slut" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slut-shaming Just check good old' evil wikipedia

And yeah, it does indeed include blaming victim "for leading them on" for actions of the stalker

Also, saying you hate feminism is "silly" since you are saying you hate someone wanting women to have same rights as men. At least say "radical feminism" if you want to talk about people who hate men.

Its kinda sad that people understand feminism so wrong that people are like "Oh no, I advocate equal rights, but I'm not feminist".

Well, that's what I meant, but I don't care what you think. I'm done talking about it, so whatever. I'm tired of arguing and fighting with people about things. I don't care anymore. Just done.

Wikipedia isn't reliable, so you are going to have to find another source.

I want to ask you a question. Why haven't you said anything about the leaked storyboard of Donnie and April? It seems you only like to comment on topics concerning feminism.

Also, do you hate me?

Here, try this one:

Of course, you could have checked the references listed at the bottom of the Wikipedia page.

And what I love is how everyone is acting like April is a helpless victim when she's not. She can stand up for herself and tell Donnie no, but she isn't. She's sending him mixed signals just as I said before. And honestly, I don't see it as creepy at all. Splinter probably didn't teach them anything about humans because he wanted to keep them from the surface. Remember how he didn't want them to go in "Rise of the Turtles"? So, I think the only thing he taught them about humans is to avoid them because they wouldn't understand the Turtles and would probably try and study them. That's the way I see it anyway.

But you guys just see it differently than me. Stop acting like I "don't get it" because I do. You guys think Donnie is a creepy stalker while I think he's just a boy who doesn't know about relationships and thinks this is the way to handle it. Could he handle it better? Yes, but the thing is, he doesn't know any better and no one is telling him anything except for Raph. The creepiness factor has gone waaay down in season 2, and I think Don is learning more about how to handle the crush, which is a good thing.

By your logic Raph shouldn't know any better either, and yet he does.
Why do you think that is?

Maybe Raph watches soap operas and chick flicks.

Raph has more of a realistic view. He will admit there are some exceptions such as April and Casey. But majority of the humans above would not understand or accept them for who or what they are, so it's better to avoid humans all together.

Who says he knows better? He just doesn't care.

There's a difference.

Raph is more in touch with his feminine side.

I wonder if Raph in particular is keeping an eye on Donny about this whole crushing thing, is because he has secretly been at the top surface before, long before Splinter gave them his blessing, so he knows how humans can be, and its seems the longer he got to know April, the more easier he was on Donny. Now, he just seems to be on Leo's case.

Really, why do you all think Raph is concerned for his two brothers who have developed crushes on human girls?

I'm thinking it's because he's been to the top surface before and probably has his own experience in a prior event, and is trying to protect his brothers. Don't forget, Donny isn't the only one who has had a crush that worried Raph, so did Leo.

You know, that wouldn't surprise me at all, Warhorse. Very good observation. I also believe that he has a more cynical view on things than the others do so that's why he tells Donnie that he has no shot with April. He doesn't want to give his brother false hope, but in the end, he still allowed Donnie to get the praise he wanted.

He cares about all his brothers in his own way. And while Leo and Mikey seem more content to let the crush happen because it's something that makes Donnie happy and he was gaining someone who could understand him on a better level.

But Raph seemed to believe that the only thing Donnie would get out of it in the end is a broken heart. Still did anyone notice how protective Leo was of Donnie after Raph explains that the reason Donnie left to go rescue April's dad on his own was because he had told Donnie he had no chance with April.

Leo: What?! Why would you do that?!

Raph: Because he's doesn't have a shot with April!

Leo: Well yeah, but you don't tell him that!

Thought so, guess we'll find out in the Season 2 finale or maybe long after that. I would ask Ciro but I don't want to do something pointless XD
