I have to agree with JTH here. April hasn't really shown an interest in either boy. It's natural to show off in some way or do something to get the attention of the guy/girl you like. Some people are subtle (Donnie to an extent, imo, compared to Casey) while others are loud about it (like Casey, with his date declarations). It's like Popeye and Bluto fighting over Olive Oyl. Usually they show off their physical strength to impress her, the only difference is that Casey and Donnie don't hate each other. Donnie and Casey are pretty much doing that, just in their own way.

IMO, I think if April showed an interest in Casey or anyone else, Donnie definitely would back off if Target April O'Neil is any indication. He saw them studying in the park, but he didn't interfere or break them up. He saw April and Casey hugging after April slipped on the ice, he looked on sadly and walked away.

I could see Casey being a bit pushy, but not Donnie.

You're right, April hasn't shown that kind of interest, in either Donnie or Casey. She's coy around Casey, and sometimes I feel like she is teasing him a bit. But, I've said it before, and I'll say it again. In my eyes, she might be confused on the surface about this whole thing, and is rejecting both of them, however, when April is upset, scared or hurt, she almost always runs to Donnie first, which I take to mean that in the end, she feels the most comfortable and safest around him. I also think it's interesting, back in season one, she was really into wanting to hear Leo talk about his crush, I dunno if it's just the girly girl side of her, or she was enticed by the idea that two sentient beings of different species might be able to work.

And I agree with you, if this thing is mirroring the Splinter/Saki/Shen thing, then Donnie is most certaintly more like Splinter and Casey is more like Saki. You'd have to be blind to not see this. So I again have to wonder, what lesson would Donnie learn from this ordeal?

People complain about Donnie being creepy towards April, but Casey is far more guilty of that compared to Donnie.

Take the last episode, when April called them both out about what they were working together for: Donnie apologized to her, Casey shoves Donnie out of the way and forces himself on her.

Now we can accuse Donnie of being blind by emotions and feelings for April, but he's not stupid. He clearly knew what Casey was trying to do, and was as much a reason he was doing this...


...as anything else. And based on April's reaction when Casey first hugged her, she clearly knew what Casey was trying to do also.

yea! he was a complete creep. No argument there.

which brings up another problem I have with the love triangle, it's making characters look bad.

Donnie and his obsession with April
Casey being a pervert
April being an object

I can't say I like any of these characters at this point and the main reason is the love triangle.

I am a big Apritello shipper and I think April does have something for Donnie. Maybe it's not romantic yet, but she has a connection with Donnie. What I want ideally is for Donnie to get less obsessive and for April to become a better and more complex character in the plot not just a damsel in distress. After that I would like to see her show more feelings toward Donnie and have the relationship grow in thay direction.

Well, Donnie is going to assume leadership of the gang for a while since Leo will be out of commission. And, more than likely this is going to be taking all of his focus off of April. Maybe during this time, April does become more close to Casey, and Donnie sees this and lets her be, and now that he is longer fighting for her affection, and becoming more like himself instead of the goofball he can be when she's around, she starts to look at him in a different light.

That's definitely a possibility and I can see that happening for sure. But as others have said, Don really never interfered when Casey was around April before and that breaking up the hug may have been overprotection on Don's part.

It's just a big Don and Casey dick-waving contest. And April knows exactly what she's witnessing.

Her reactions pleased me just because it's good to know she doesn't approve, which might hopefully mean she'll eventually come around to slapping the **** out of both of them once she gets tired of it. I can't wait for that one.

I doubt she'll do that as she hasn't done it yet. She'll probably continue to look displeased, but she more than likely won't say anything about it. I agree that she should for sure, but maybe she doesn't want to because she's either afraid of hurting their feelings or she likes both of them and can't decide who she likes better.

I honestly haven't noticed one way or the other, but while all the teenagers pretty know about Donnie liking April and Leo liking Karai, is Splinter aware of this? Has he ever said anything "wise" to Donnie or Leo about their crushes? Or is it possible, he really has no idea?

I don't recall what episode it was, but wasn't there that one scene where Leo hesitantly admits that he "kinda... liked her." And the rest I think are saying they're surprised he didn't trust them enough to tell them. Or something like that? Pretty sure Donnie was in on that, maybe that comment came from him?

Yeah, true. And I have to hand it to Raphael, he was pretty good at keeping Leo's secrets. His crush on Karai and his little tea time with the little girl. Makes me wonder, what other secrets Raph knows about Leonardo that he keeps quiet about.
