I'm still contemplating whether I should skip the 3DS version and only get the Wii-U one. Portable Smash is tempting but the controls hurt my hands and I'm guessing the Wii-U one will be more meaty in terms of levels and content.

I'm amazed at how good the game runs on 3DS though.

Creative kills like that are why I love the cape and using Mario. Also, his meteor smash is by far my favorite in the series. It's so simple yet satisfying. Wolf's double axe handle meteor from Brawl is an extremely close second though.

People digging through the files of the character select screen on the 3DS found a yellow and green arrow tab, which likely clicking it would bring you to a second page of character selects.

Makes it pretty obvious the game is going to have extensive character DLC. I do hope the rumor of some free characters for linking to the Wii-U one is true though beforehand.

This is the one game I would buy every piece of DLC for.

you know alot of files on games are just there, they sometimes are never implemented in the game

I'm still mad that the three character files for J-Stars weren't available

An arrow select (both a forward and back arrow, one colored green and the other yellow) were found on the character select screen, which would likely bring up a second screen of character profiles.

This makes sense, since the 3DS screen is so tiny they wouldn't be able to shrink the character pics any further without it being hard to see or select if they add more characters. Making a whole second page for another round of characters on the 3DS makes perfect sense.

I think some more cut veterans will be likely to return since its easier to bring back old characters rather than design them from scratch. Mewtwo is most likely going to be one of the main ones to return since we saw Dr. Mario.

So who all wants to play some matches when the game comes out? I'd be happy to play against anybody, though I never claim to be incredibly good at the game or anything.

Well they discovered DLC on the Smash Bros 3DS rom:

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=899951

Looks like there will be stage DLC along with character DLC, most likely bundled together.

Guess that rumor of Ridley, Chorus Men, Dixie and Mewtwo will turn out to be true. Looks like they were saving the best for last.

I wish I had gotten the "platinum" 3DS demo since I don't plan to buy the game but the demo has enough content to get my "portable" Smash fix. I met all the requirements and I actually enable those emails but oh well, I'll only ever get the X tries before the demo stops working.

Having played the demo it solidifies my idea of not getting the game, I'd rather just have the console version, it's definitely cool to play a very faithful version of Smash in a portable though. The controls definitely need some getting used to but they get the job done, but there's plenty of things that I just couldn't do on the 3DS. I remember reading that Pikachu was made stronger this time around but I actually found that not only to be false but he seems weaker. Too bad since he's my "main", his final smash seems a little easier to control but its still crappy. Villager is my Olimar in this new game, a character I really wanted to play as but I just can't learn how to control him, a shame. I was pleasantly surprised with Megaman though, didn't think he would play so well, at least not to become a character I'd frequently use but he's awesome to play as and even though I've only used Pikachu in all the other Smash's MM might just be my new character. But I need to play more as him since I felt similarly about Pit when Brawl came out and I eventually switched back to Pikachu. Years of muscle memory are too much of an advantage than a stronger character I can't use as well.

If I was 10 years younger I'd probably buy Smash 3DS in a heartbeat, but as an adult nearing my 30's I don't really game much outside of the house on handhelds.

And if I game in the house I'd always play the Wii-U version over the 3DS one. I guess the handheld one is nice for kids and everyone who doesn't own a Wii-U though.

This is a fair opinion. Not a lot of people have the Wii U yet.

Although you can guarantee I'll be getting one asap.

Wait, what's this about being too old to play on a handheld?

Gotta do something on lunch break.

Or, like, people who want to start playing the game a month or more earlier. Or people who want to be able to play pickup games. And since player data transfers, it will also let you carry all you're character customizations to your friends place when you play on the Wii U. As far as I know, there isn't another way to do that.

You make it sound like a secondary option, but there are plenty of reasons for Wii U players to get the 3DS version.

I like going to bed early with hot water bottle and playing on my 3ds I know you can game on the Wii U this way, but I find it so relaxing after a hard day outside in t he cold.

So I should but some serious hours in. Plus I get the option to take SSB with me on the go.
