I wouldn't take sport insults seriously. Like, Muhammad Ali would insult his opponents, to knock his opponent's mind out of balance. Muhammad Ali wasn't a great aggressive fighter, like Mike Tyson, but, he's a great counter-puncher like Floyd Mayweather Jr. is. So, Ali would say **** that makes the other person angry and aggressive, so that Ali could fight the way he fights, best.

Basically, what I'm saying, sport insults are meant to be part of the game. Although, it can get extremely unreasonable, especially, when the insults involve innocent people, like, insulting an opponent's family.

Muhammad Ali once made an insulting comment to "Smokin' Joe" Frazier that made him an enemy for life. And learning what the comment was, I can understand why.

Sex is related to a person's biological identity and gender is related to a person's social identity.
I assume whenever someone calls a man a woman, they don't necessarily mean that they think that said man is a woman in a man's body. They mean said man is either feminine or appears feminine.

Because it is an insult... Just like "stupid," "moron," and anything else that has been used to offend someone. It's just like Marty McFly being called "chicken" in Back to the Future. He knows he's not chicken, yet being called one makes him feel foolish and gets the better of him which causes him to react unpleasantly. A lot of straight men are very proud of their sexuality to the point where they feel they have something to prove if told otherwise. Is it wrong to be afraid, homosexual, or ignorant? No, not at all. That doesn't make it any less hurtful to the person being called those things, especially when they're not true. That's really the point of an insult, to hurt or get a rise out of someone. Doesn't make the person using those words hateful of gay or stupid people, just hateful of the person they knew or thought would be sensitive to any of those words. As for those who think they're better than the people who use those words as an insult, you're no better, just delusional.

What about when an opponent blows in your ear! Did you see that one with LeBron? I chuckled when I saw that. It wasn't funny, but yet, it was.

It wasn't me they were insulting. It was posters of German heritage. The German NT has screwed over Scotland again tonight, but I wouldn't resort to Nazi insults.

I'm not talking about game theory or psychology between participants, I'm talking about racist or xenophobic comments amongst fans in the aftermath of results - comments which have no bearing on the outcome of the sports game and are instead designed to antagonise opposition fans. Now, this sort of thing is healthy in sports and occurs far more in European football than in NFL, but when it becomes racist it's overstepping the mark.

At the end of the day, they're just words. Problem is, people need to get thicker skins and brush it off, but they can't do that. Just rise above it and let it go. Then again, words have different meanings now, and even if we're using them in the context they were originally meant for, people will still get offended by it. Take the word "queer" for an example. The word is originally defined as someone who is acting peculiar or strange, so if I were to say, "Hey that guy is looking at me funny. He sure is acting queer" I would be saying he's acting strangely and that it creeps me out. But if someone were to hear me saying it, they'd probably get a stick up their a** thinking I was insulting him or calling him gay. We just live in this world where every little thing you do or say gets someone in a knot, and I hate it. Why should we censor ourselves when no one else does? I swear, I hate political correctness and I'm not going to censor myself if I feel I don't need to. If I want to say that someone's actions are retarded, meaning that they're foolish as the dictionary defines it, then I have the right to. People just need to get a thicker skin and get over it. And as I said before with the use of the N word, if people don't want whites to use it, then they shouldn't use it themselves.

I'll probably get a lot of flack for this, but this is the way I feel. I'm sick of having to be sensitive to other people and having to watch what I say. Get over it and brush it off. You may not like the word, but stop acting like everyone's insulting you when it may mean something else that they're saying. Words have different meanings and until you know the context of it, you won't know what they're saying and how they're saying it.

You're blaming someone else for "not having a thick skin" when all you have to do is not use a single word?

I don't have nearly as much of a problem with bigoted people using bigoted words. I mean, at least they're being honest and outing themselves at the gate as being bigots.

No, it's the people who get upset and decry "Political Correctness" or shout FREE SPEECH! when they're told their language is unacceptable. As if their ability to say what they want, when they want, some how trumps ours to call them out on it...or better still, to show them the door.

Yep because that's the gist of it. People are too sensitive about these things. If someone calls you a queer and means it in an insulting way, instead of getting p*ssed about it, just say, "Yeah, I'm queer and proud of it! And guess what? So are you. We're all queer in our own way." That way the person won't know what to do because you're not taking offense over what they say. If someone were to call me a midget right now, I'd say, "Sorry, I'm not that short. Try again. But I am short and proud of it." That way I'm showing them that they can't get under my skin with what they say.

But it is political correctness when a certain group of people say we can't say a certain word when the group in question says it all of the time like blacks using the N word but if a white person says it, it's offensive and racist. Same goes with gay people who may use queer and the F word as a term of endearment but get mad at other people. It's called common sense here. A word is only as powerful as you make it. If you brush it off, then people will see it doesn't bother you and they'll stop. If you get mad, then they've won and will continue to do it. Get my drift here?

On a message board or an online game? I mean if someone said some stupid sh*t to me online, I'd either take the bait and insult back or ignore it and let them run their mouth. That's really all there doing.

Of course you're right if it's a face to face thing.

Yeah, he seemed to be talking about face to face interaction. If it was face to face and they were being a genuine irritant I'd just invite them to fight me.
