I'm not entirely sure that under-part goes all the way back. I have a shot of Mikey where it looks like it doesn't quite meet the bottom of the carapace. If so, then maybe it's movable? Maybe it is hinged so the tail and/or "parts" can slip out? The shot I have is while he's on his skateboard, and it's at a sort of low angle where the camera is almost under him, but the lighting isn't real good, so it's hard to tell if the under-part is actually attached in the back or not. I'm voting not....

Shell wedgies? Where does it ever say that? I don't remember seeing or hearing it anywhere.

I'm not quite sure that counts. I think it was probably being played for laughs, since A) turtles shells aren't even supposed to go all the way under like that, and B) how would that give him a wedgie anyway? They're not really built the same way.

Maybe, but I notice when you hold male turtles at a certain angle by their shell their penis comes out so maybe that could be it and would probably be painful.

I've never seen that happen, myself- and I've picked up quite a few over the years. Although I've had one or two pee on me, LOL! Might have to try this at my local pet store, just for the sake of research.... (Now you've got me wondering about that, darn you!!)

Hmm, I know some will "display" out of aggression or as a sign of dominance. Makes the "d*ck-waving" of human males seem almost pointless in comparison, LOL!

True; I think there have been more incarnations showing them without tails rather than with. Truthfully I haven't spent much time giving it in-depth thought; in a corner of my mind I think I just always imagined that in cases where we don't see them, they're kept tucked under the shell or something. Chalk it up as a weird headcanon.

Or they're just too short to notice. Maybe they're just little stumps of tails, and don't stick out far enough to see.

Some turtle shells are able to bend a bit.
So I think they can bind the shell a bit so there's opening through which they poop or pee.
