I'm not talking about the paintings, I'm talking bout the designs of the characters. First two would be ideal.

Fair enough, but only because these are paintings of the OT designs. Hard to really fault it in that regard.

It bothers me that they never look at the real world for inspiration. If they were designing orcs, then great. Orc's have never existed, so any crazy combination of attributes is plausible in the minds eye. Same goes for Dragons. A Dragon can be anything you wish it to be, but if you want me to believe that Dragon is real, then it must conform to the anatomy and rules of nature, and the laws of physics. There have been lots of cinematic dragons, but to me, Smaug though celebrated as a huge achievement, isn't nearly as impressive as the red dragon in GOT, or the dragons from Reign of Fire. Still, the Dragon could be purple and burnt sienna with lemon yellow polka dots, because, it's a Dragon. It has no real world counterpart.

Mutants, of the TMNT variety, are animals that have evolved, or animal human hybrids. They are not monsters, or mythological creatures, or whimsical magical creatures. They should have attributes of humans, or attributes of the source animal. It's very simple.

Bay himself said, " you will believe these turtles are real". I expected them to deliver on that promise, not break the laws of reality for some childish collage of more is better, kitchen sink approach.

The entire idea is seated in controlled chaos; the turtles are not obnoxious mma fighters, but disciplined ninjas. They practices stealth, not clumsy attention-seaking behavior. The designs should speak to the source. It's elegance over brashness, a kayak, not a carnival cruise ship. Simple elegant forms and design, not tacky, loud garbage.

Thanks for the high-res art of Krang and B&R, I saved it since clearly there are forces at play trying to remove this from the net as best as they can.

it's totally possible they'll use the same concept art for TMNT 2 you think?

I actually am okay with those designs, mostly... i'd like them to look a bit more like the comics or 80s toon counterparts but Krang seems to match up with 2014 Shredder really well.

I actually do hope Shredder returns for TMNT2 only this time they need to focus on him and not Sachs, hopefully Sachs is totally out of the equation now that we know how they did all those reshoots to make Sachs and Shredder seperate characters.

The first two are f*ckin perfect. But you know the other two will be closer to what we'll wind up getting... Werewolf Bebop Fresh Out Of Prison looks like nightmare fuel. That Rocksteady is too spike-heavy but would look great with clothes & guns. That Krang is AWESOME & really hits home how somewhere in the next four years, we're gonna have Krang in a movie.
Strongly agree... why break what is already clearly working? The first two are better.

I hope TMNT learns not only from its first film but also from other failed attempts at dramatic redesigns such as what we saw in Amazing Spider-Man (the Lizard was TERRIBLE). There is no need to totally redesign things, just translate the design people already have a fondness for into a more realistic environment. Not so hard.

When you go with a crap design you get lots of stuff like this clogging toy store shelves:

The reason the new Turtles & Splinter are ugly is because they went realistic. If anything, they should've gone more cartoon.

Side note - I'd kill for this to happen:

Mmmmm, disagree? Like, completely?

Case in point, there are ugly people, and attractive people. Both are people, and hence, realistic. Realism does not denote ugliness. Bad design does.

And Gary Oldman? As Krang? Dude you are drunk or high!

No. Gary Oldman as Krang is so perfect it doesn't need explaining, unless it's to someone who doesn't know who he is.

Unless you have a better suggestion?

Gary Oldman is a phenomenal actor, but casting Oldman as Krang requires a deep and thorough explanation. I've followed his career from JFK on ... And I don't think Krang, ever.

Krang is like Prime to me, in that, the voice is so distinct, it should be reprised by the original Actor. Pat Fraley or bust for me.

I love all things "Terminator" so I actually like those Krang designs.

One thing people keep forgetting is, these are concepts...they were obviously turned down. With a new director there might be a new direction. I know Bay is still in charge, but I think they trust the new director more than Leibesman, and he seems to be very creative.

The Rocksteady is beyond horrible...oh lord it is bad. The Bebop I could live with.

Someone mentioned the blue door script, these concepts do lend credibility to that story of the Turtles being aliens, all of the concepts seem to look like aliens, turtles, B&R, and Krang.

One more thing, if anyone bought the bluray, and watched the special features...it was obvious to me, the design of the Turtles is hugely based on the faces of the actors. They had to align the camera a certain way, and when you watch them do the animation, a lot of the complaints people have about their facial design is due to there being mocap of the actor's real face. They had to re-angle their face, stretch it etc...

Oldman is one of Hollywood's great chameleons. He's played every type of villain (or for that matter, character) under the sun. He can turn his voice into anything. If you wanna see whats pretty much a human version of Krang, watch his performance in Hannibal. He's said before he enjoys the "challenge of voice work". He played the villain in Paramount's Kung-Fu Panda 2 and was brilliant.

As for Fraley or no-one... c'mon dude. That's just setting yourself up for disappointment. And honestly, "just cast the original guy" isn't terribly exciting to me.

Yeah I saw that. Alan Ritchson said the look of the Turtles was set in stone well before anyone was cast (Leo was modeled on a mix of Russell Crowe & Nelson Mandela, Mikey was based on Bill Murray, Donnie on Leonard Nimoy & Raph on Clint Eastwood) and then when the four were cast, they took them into a room & showed them the maquettes of who they'd be playing. Then by virtue of mo-cap, the faces of the Turtles just naturally wind up resembling the faces of the actors playing them.

Seriously dude, I already said I've followed his career. I can easily recall all of his turns, I know his body of work. Let's raise the convo above preaching.

I'm glad Cullen was brought back for Prime. No one has done Prime as well as Cullen, ever. The first 3 transformer pics suffered without Welker, simple as that.

What exactly is exciting about ****ing things up by casting a new actor? A dramatic actor is not necessarily a better actor than their voice actor counterparts. That's weak.

Great actors can also suck in franchise pictures - Clooney as Batman, Spacey as Luthor, Portman as Padme...the list is near endless.

I'm pretty sure the audience of 30 something's would cheer if they heard that old familiar gurgling vocal when Krang hits the screen. It would be cheers and applause. Now imagine a famous voice coming from the brain.

Lots of puzzled looks, and maybe a cough.

If you mean changing the design of the Turtles, Splinter, and Shredder...they won't. They have their character designs.

I'm sure they'll f*ck up Bebop and Rocksteady too.

Bebop and Rocksteady are going to be 13 feet tall and capable of demolishing buildings, because these Turtles are 6.5 feet tall and capable of throwing between 5k and 65k lbs around.
