Well I liked the
Spoiler:
"We are Groot" scene
as it was very emotional and well done.

But that was the only thing I liked in the whole movie. I tried to get into it but I just couldn't. I loved Rockets character, but even he wasn't enough to keep me interested in the film. I'm getting pretty tired of having an unpopular opinion, but I just can't see what's so great about this movie. Oh well

Your opinion is your own, and you're entitled to it. It didn't hit the right buttons for you and that's just fine. There's no reason to feel bad about having an unpopular opinion. This is art we're talking about. It's subjective. No one is really "right" when it comes to their opinion. Most of us enjoyed it, you didn't. It's no biggie.

It'd be pretty sad if TMNT didn't take the top spot since GOTG has already been out a week.

I just saw this movie today with my mom, and I loved it and thought it was great. Everything about it was awesome, and it had an engaging story. Now I just have to see TMNT and then we'll know if GOTG has taken August. But judging by what I saw, I'd say it has for the most part.

Pretty Sure Guardians Won, if We're Talking about $$$ Earned

According to deadline http://www.deadline.com/2014/08/box-...-fast-at-no-1/ , TMNT is estimated to make $65M this weekend. GotG had an opening weekend of $94.3M (and is estimated to take in $42M this weekend).

Reviews (by movie goers and critics) favor Guardians considerably by as much as 70%.

I think it's fair to say that this thread has been resolved.

Guardians of the Galaxy won August!!!!

Not yet. We still have the OS to consider.

We have three factions.
Domestic
Overseas
Worldwide.

I would say, the franchise that wins 2 out of 3 declared the winner.

I second the motion the argument is resolved. GOTG blew the turtles out of the water in every aspect. This is not the purist or premadonna me saying that because I had different expectations for the TMNT movie. I really found the turtles to be very poorly done. It could've been so much better and still maintained the appeal to the target audience. After the halfway point, all I could see were attempts at marketing a defective product because it's too costly to issue a recall.

Yes the global markets still need to be tallied, don't think it's gonna matter. A bad movie in English is quite likely to be a bad movie in Spanish or French...

I saw GOTG last week. It was good, but I wasn't massively blown away as the reviews led me to expect. I was actually feeling a bit bored when they got to the part where the villain's ship was being surrounded.

Just saw that GOTG went over $700 million at the global box office yesterday. That is which is just under double what TMNT has generated so far.

GOTG got a nomination for best adapted screenplay from the WGA. Pretty cool.

I thought the movie was terrible overrated.
People said how great it was but all I saw was a terrible comedy set in space.
inb4 someone says I'm wrong.

Can we do a final score? GotG vs. TMNT, as of now, in millions:

Domestic: $333.1 vs. $191.2
Overseas: $439.6 vs. $286.0
Worldwide: $772.7 vs. $477.2

I should have went in with no expectations whatsoever, all the hype that everyone generated gave me some hope that Marvel was finally doing something different from their usual set style of movies; I admit, all this,"This is best Marvel movie ever!" gave me really high and unrealistic expectations. So when I saw it, It didn't live up to the 9/10 ratings that many claimed for it to be, so I came out extremely disappointed.

But When I watched it a second time with my brother a few days ago, I actually kind of liked it more, but nonetheless it still wasn't as good I hoped it to be. I honestly think that hype in general ruins everything.
