I think so, although Hob looks to be rocking a bit of a Shere Khan silhouette?? I'm always torn with his art too, the guy has serious talent I just don't always like the execution.

I'll bet anything that it IS Leatherhead. They've teased him in TiT, but with all of the craziness going on in "Attack on Technodrome", it really doesn't feel like they'll have time to introduce the character and have him NOT feel like a minor deus ex machina in the fight against Krang...

Unless IDW writes Leatherhead as a pure villain ala Fred Wolf cartoon, and I REALLY don't want to see that.

I wouldn't mind Leatherhead and the Punk Frogs.

Myself, that would be awesome. But I doubt they'll introduce four frog mutants that would be hard to tell apart or come off as anything more than generic without a lot of focus.

I'm expecting Leatherhead and maybe Ray Fillet.

Leatherhead is a given, I think. Ray Fillet would be fun too, especially if he gets to go up against Bludgeon at some point.

In defense of the Punk Frogs, though, Hob keeps harping on about the Turtles being four and having the advantage of numbers and teamwork, but perceives them as unreliable for going off by themselves (first Donnie, now all the brothers ditched the Mutanimals), so it's possible that he would want to replicate their success with some mutants of his very own. Plus, frogs are fairly common pet store animals, easy to nab... I briefly had one myself as a kid.

I hadn't thought of how Hob has always harped on the Turtles' numbers... that's a good point. But remember, these are probably not mutants created by Hob, but instead captured by Null. And frogs were probably in the same Burnow Island swamp as Leatherhead before he mutated! (And it wouldn't be too big a stretch of the imagination to find a manta ray in close proximity either...)

I'd like Mona Lisa to appear, but she's probably too visually similar to Mondo Gecko. I would like more female mutants, though... so far it's only Alopex and Koya, and Koya hasn't gotten much focus yet.

That's a very good point, too. Local fauna being mutated... I can't wait to find out!

so do we think that the Null Group collected specimens from Burnow Island at some point? would this mean the Null Group has worked with Krang before? It's possible that Krang contracted out some of his science projects to them as well as StockGen in order to nurture development through competition

I think it is quite probable that the Null Group did collect mutant "specimens" from Burnow Island.

I think it's less likely, however, that Krang works with them. Given how late in the endgame it is (for Krang, at least), I think he would have already called in their expertise or results by now. Perhaps instead the Null Group is dedicated to investigating extraterrestrial activities? But that then raises the question of why they're not doing anything to stop Krang... and how does Null (the person) tie into it?

So many questions...

It definitely doesn't seem like Krang is working with them now, anyways. I think its more likely though that Krang worked with them in the past. Krang has been on Burnow Island for hundreds of years (if not more). The mutagen (ooze? whatever) was thrown into the swamp on Burnow Island in pirate-y times, a little over two hundred years ago. Maybe over the years it lead to anomalies in the DNA of some of the island's animals, or something like that, and some of those animals were captured by Krang and he hired the Null Group to research and experiment on them. If the Null Group was lead by this cagey bastard named Null (who I have no firsthand knowledge of, but whose entry on Turtlepedia I have read), and if in IDW's universe Null is part of this mystic family (along with Kitsune, Rat King, and Chi-You), I bet he wouldn't reveal any of his findings to Krang, so that he could keep them for himself. Maybe he's been developing his own mutants this whole team and he's just getting ready to make his first bold move in this game of chess.

but this is all just wild speculation until we learn more. maybe Null isn't going to be a part of the mystic family. maybe IDW has decided to make Leatherhead an immortal pirate crocodile.

Haha, this "Null being the brother of anchients like Kitsune and Rat King" thing is mentoined so many times, and turned into such a fanon, that it will be wierd, if it turns out differently.

It's a really good way to "realistically" use the demonic aspect of Null from Archie in IDW's universe without it coming off as out of universe(or awkwardly preachy).

They could handle it completely differently though, true, but it's a good way to kind of expand on that pantheon sort of thing Kitsune and Rat King would be building up that was present an old Mirage comic iirc.

Highly improbable. He's been imprisoned in limbo for like 400 years.

I would love to see the Punk Frogs and Leatherhead close to what they were in the original cartoon. That mean so mucho t my fandom! Right now I am just counting on Leatherhead showing up in 2015. In Mighty Mutanimals? Works for me.

When can we see a character design for Null? I am curious of what he will look like (atleast his initially design )

I like to see both Leatherhead and Wingnut show up as members of the Mutanimals.

I look forward to seeing Null, and hope to see villains such as Scumbug show up.
