It takes me a long time to get to a store that even sells comics, so I'm sure the issues are long gone, but I was spoiled immediately when I was just online looking at something that had nothing to do with TMNT. They just blurted it out right there in bold words!

I had to read the article to see what they were talking about and now I think that I would have been horrified if I hadn't been told upfront what to expect. I cried just seeing the picture alone. Poor Donnie.
Spoiler:
Not getting to read the issue, and I don't know the extent of his injuries, I wonder if they can make him a metal shell to fix all the damage. That way he's not a cyborg, but he has a stronger shell than his brothers. If he lives, that is.

The thing that makes it even worse, at least for me, is how he doesn't even cry out or make a sound when it happens.

It's almost too bad for words. Some gritty stuff right there.[/QUOTE]

I've seen the scene, Donnie's beating is horrific and brutal. The reason he doesn't scream and weep is because Bebop knocked him off with the keyboard, then Rocksteady proceeded to smash Donnie's shell with the sledgehammer while the boy is unconscious.

I always loved Donnie. My poor baby! Seeing that scene affected me, I almost cried but I was shocked. Not even Superman's "death" impacted me so much as Donnie did.

Spoiler:
He wasn't unconscious, he was still awake. Bebop was sitting on him and Donnie said "off me Dammit" Just before Rocksteady hit him with the Sledgehammer.

I expect Donnie didn't scream in agony was because either the force of the impact caused him to be knocked unconscious or paralysed him instantly I expect Donnie's adrenalyn rush played a part too. Or (if he is dead) killed him instantly.

Bought this from Kevin at Sac Con 2015. It's a variant cover layout for #44B that they didn't use. Notice Kevin's note at the bottom. I wonder why they decided not to use it, do you guys think this layout gave up too much to be used for the #44B cover.

i dont think that B cover was too revealing. i think kevin just had a change of heart on what he wanted to draw on the issue.

Even though I got issue 44 downloaded onto my IPad, I thought it be nice to have the paper issue. I'm a bit clueless on Comic book stores and websites in the UK but I did a search and saw that Reed Comics UK are selling it (but not in stock) for £13

I thought IDW's comics weren't allowed to be published in the UK?

I never heard that before. I looked up other UK comic book sites and they are selling IDW comics. I can get get the Trade Paperbacks from Amazon UK and get issues downloaded from I Tunes.

I'm not 100% certain here, but based on the comic place I get almost all my comics from, they order through Diamond, and all their comics are shipped to them from the US. I'm guessing that's what all the other places do too.

Oh, I just re-read Vicky's post... Reed Comics is where my pull list is with. Hopefully I will be charged normal price for my #44 issues

No its just the Nick animated comic they can't publish in the UK, since the UK has its own comic based on the Nick cartoon from another publisher.

So do the majority of people think he's actually dead?

I don't buy the individual comics (no idea why, I buy tons of other stuff I don't even care about anymore), but I do buy the trades and download each issue).

Should I see if the LCS has any left? Or should I just wait it out, or potentially buy one that's been CGC'D?

Well most news sources would make some believe that, and TBF, the issue does make it sound like he did (with Angel/Nobody an Alopex saying they 'arrived too late'). But....

Spoiler:
the FCBD preview has Splinter say he nearly lost his life. So at the very least, he isn't, though still obviously in critical condition.

Or he is actually very very dead right now, but is brought back somehow.

Just going to repaste this since no one touched on it.

Spoiler:
The Rat King will be the one to bring Donnie back. I just re-read his introduction and I'm fairly positive he's going to be making an appearance again soon. If you look back:
1) The Rat King talks about setting the pieces for the 'bigger game' being lead up to. He talks about sacrifices and pawns and winning pieces, like a chess game. He refers to Leonardo as his 'Knight'. Maybe he'll force him into his service in exchange for Donatello's life?
2) He plays on Splinter's guilt as a father. He even says right near the end of his mind game with Splinter, "I admire your single-minded desire to protect your children, Rat. A useful trait indeed." Hmm...
3) He makes a point of saying, "Pawns can be saved or sacrificed. Sometimes that depends on the whims of the player- other times, the strength of the move in play." Donnie just made one hell of a play, but he did have to sacrifice himself to do it. Maybe the Rat King will admire that trait? Leo is the Knight. Maybe Donnie is the Bishop?

So now that the Rat King has them in a tight spot, it seems like a good opportunity to get things into motion with the Pantheon.

If he was alive, even if he was only slightly alive, someone would be trying to do something to help him. So it makes more sense that he is dead and is later revived somehow.

Does anyone think that Donnie wanted to kill himself because of the events of Turtle in Time? He specifically states that he thinks that something he does makes him responsible for the death of his brothers. And whatever it was, has to do with Shredder (Since future Shredder rules the world).
Maybe he thought ensuring the death of Shredder, Krang, and himself would change that future time line?

Spoiler:
I'm wondering what if at all the longer term effects of this will be for Donnie. The coma/Metalhead mind-meld situation is likely to be temporary, (I can't imagine issue #50 wouldn't have all four turtles fighting side by side.) As for his shell I think that either it could be healed to what it was with the help of some combination of ooze and ancient foot texts/techniques OR more interestingly what if while inhabiting Metalhead Donnie makes himself a metal shell? Nothing as strange as his cyborg body from vol.3 but something cool and unique non the less. I would like to see him take a major physical setback and turn it into something of a personal upgrade. But as neat as I think this might be I doubt that any of the TMNT would really leave their basic design stage for very long. Either way this is a major happening for the comic and I have never been more excited for #50 and beyond.

Wow, that's crazy to think about. Very deep, PF.
