I can't believe someone here, in all seriousness, just extended the offer to take an online argument into real life...

Holy fvck balls

Listen up class;

A "take" happens one or more times from a specific angle. It can be any angle, and you can shoot multiple angles without re-adjusting your lighting, wide medium or CU. A take is neither an angle, nore is it a set up. It's a take. Actor delivers their lines, director calls cut, everyone resets, actors go back to ones, and that is a take. Ready for take two. They usually shoot a safety, but with video village right there, and professional actors, and everyone shooting digital, often, you don't need more than three, or four takes. Actors get stale, and wooden. The costs are really high to up your ratio (number of takes you shoot) as this is how you don't make your day, or in other words, shoot the number of script pages You need to to stay within your budget. Everyone on set has a cost, and everyday that you add can mean hundreds of thousands. Shooting loads of material, or heaps of coverage (Osho's, mcu, wides etc.) isn't always a good idea, especially with fiscally retentive folks like PD. In most cases you're just pissing off the editor. A good director KNOWS what they need, and what they don't, or when they got it, or when it's wrong.
Sometimes actors complain that a director wants too many takes. Kubrick was known for being insane with hundreds of takes. Fincher does it too. It's arguable as to wether that helps or hurts production. Some directors want to get it in one. Still, it literally has no bearing on the quality of a film. It's a moving target, and everyone needs to be in sync, as a group, to pull of something great. The public thinks it's all about the director-and even directors think it's about directors. Really, it couldn't be further from the truth.
Finally, one of the biggest breakthroughs for Mocap is the ability to edit the Mocap data and fuse multiple performances of an actor into one. Take an eye blink from a, mix it with the smirk from b and the head bob from c. ( I'm oversimplifying, but still). So here, you might have three performances, but really, you have hundreds of combinations from the three.

But seriously, don't go fighting each other in real life over this. Neither of you actually had the right answer. Kinda dumb right?

Multiple takes make so much sense to me. You could theoretically get such a broad spectrum of so much in that one scene with so many takes.

I like the idea of it, of having like A-Z from an actor's choices in a scene for me to choose from. Like maybe Take C works really well, but oh man they did something REALLY unique and interesting that makes sense in the context of the scene as a whole in Take W.

I like that. Makes my brain feel good.

But seriously...sometimes it's great to have tons of footage, to give you options, but other times, it can work against you. People don't always agree in the edit. Some times it's better to not give them the ammunition to destroy your baby.

This. This is why you're one of my favorites.
But hey... At least the Mets aren't the Cubs?

Poor poor cubbies.

Stephen Amell told Katie Nolan during a recent interview that it is "super cool" that he is playing Casey Jones, the goalie mask-wearing vigilante in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2.

The only spoiler that he would give up is "Casey drives a cool car." That could be the Polaris Slingshot sports car producer Michael Bay tweeted not too long ago.

Just some stuff I found… http://t.co/yydcIebaIC pic.twitter.com/sYNXmPpNJL
— Michael Bay (@michaelbay) April 25, 2015

Amell then reveals that his favorite Turtle was Mikey when he was growing up. He also discusses how he has to shoot each scene three times because of the extensive special effects for the Turtles.

& I do not mean that in a complimentary way.
They absolutely did not do just 3 takes.

They have to shoot each shot of the turtles at least 3 times. And thus, they have to do multiple from each angle. So 1 take is now 3; 2 takes six, and so on and so forth.

This is ****ing standard. All movies do it. It's just more of a necessity here due to the VFX.

Well if it is, then Casey has turned into some kind of fancy rich boy sort. Seems ill fitting for Casey.

My guess is it either belongs to Eric "Stupid Rich" Sacks or the car was not for TMNT.

So basically a street vigilante who uses a beat up looking hockey mask and sports equipment as weapons drives an expensive sports car kitted out to look sci fi?

I certainly hope not.

In that case I cheerfully withdraw that particular criticism.
