Peyo hates The Smurfs, Sir Alec Guiness hated Obi Wan, A A Milne hated Winnie the Pooh, so it's not unheard of creators hating creations.

I said it in a previous thread, and imma say it again (cut & paste):

"I for one would not be at all surprised if B&R turn out to have as much impact & screen time as Rhino in Spidey 2.

Strongly suspicious we're being fed BS about B&R appearing as "main" characters...I think they'll have 20 seconds or so before the closing credits..."

They're just building up hype to lure the fans in.

Hope I'm wrong, but that's my gut feeling...

Not even the turtles get enough screentime in what's supposed to be their own damn film, & given all these other characters/stars they keep forcing in, there's a good chance you're right.

Are we talking about Peter Laird hating on Bebop and Rocksteady? Yeah he totally does, just go read any statement he has on them.

Although it's pretty easy to why if we're being honest.

I have a feeling it's going to be; idiotic henchmen for most of the movie, mutation, one big battle scene against the turtles, die! Keeping them human for a long time keeps the budget down!

IDW is the best version of TMNT

If they make a TMNT reboot movie retelling the shredder battle/origin, I won't buy a ticket.

That sounds quite likely, more likely than the "Rhino ASM2" theory. And honestly, this would be a lot easier to swallow.

It's from Model & Toy Collector Special #03 TMNT. I don't know if I can post a download link here.

im guessing the same thing.

the scenes they are currently filming in Buffalo feature a large semi, with a massive cargo...and rolls past what looks like ooze ignited on fire on the road? Perhaps the cargo are the animals, and the mutation is triggered by this event?

its all speculation on my part.

what i dont understand is...didnt he approve all this? before it aired? does he acknowledged the fact that he played a very big part in this iteration (OT), and is he just regretful?

From what I understand, Peter Laird feels that Fred Wolf and crew shut him and Kevin Eastman out of the process as early as they could. Eastman and Laird did have some creative input in season 1, but Fred Wolf did not want their involvement from the second season onwards and thus decided "shut them out", presumably because they disapproved of several key elements from season 1.

An example Laird himself likes to point out is that by the end of episode 5, the Technodrome would be hijacked by the Turtles and it would replace the sewer lair... No really, it's presumably why the toy seems to have been designed for the Turtles rather than Shredder or Krang.

He has mentioned that he could have demanded the show to be altered to his liking, but it would take too much time and energy so it simply wasn't a fight worth fighting.

Confused.

So Laird WANTED the TMNT to hijack the Technodrome, or Fred Wolf wanted that and Laird put his foot down?

Fred Wolf wanted that (or possibly David Wise), Laird put his foot down. Laird has the described the hijacking as "particularly stupid".

This one of several things vetoed by Laird and Eastman in season 1. Presumably, because they interfered so much in season 1, Fred Wolf appearently decided to leave them out of the creative process as much as they could. This is probably why it turned into the slapstick sitcom show Laird hates.

so, was the technodrome (TOY) built even before the 'hijacking' took place? as in they planned it from the start?

even still, Laird, got his money, and I saw the footage, they celebrated. certainly no remorse then. part of me feels that its their (Eastman and Laird) own fault for not realizing that accepting money from a much bigger corporation really meant losing creative control. ya gotta pick one, and only one, rarely can you have both. which sucks.

Fascinating! What other changes did Laird have made from Wise and Wolf's original intent?

Sadly, he claims not to remember a lot of it, the Technodrome thing he remembers because it was amongst the ones he had the most distaste for. I know of something he intended to change though, he didn't like the design Krang's body had, so he pitched two replacerment designs. It didn't go through obviously, the "Potato-wrestler" stuck anyway... Still, pretty awesome Kirby inspired designs though!
Spoiler:

You search his blog, the "Ask PL" segments in particular might contain some additional information.

Here are some quotes from the man himself:

I don't really remember. It's interesting to see the handwritten note about the "exhaust vents" on Krang's robot body's shoulders as something the Turtles could crawl into -- obviously a reference to the fact that in the animated series, Krang's robot body was supposed to be able to grow to a huge size -- the only way any of the Turtles could have fit through those vents.

I'm pretty sure my drawings came first. There is a video clip in the TMNT documentary, footage taken at our first meeting at Playmates Toys, which supports this.

It's not so much that I disliked the characters so intensely, but more that I found their constant one-note shtick in the first animated series to be extremely annoying and silly to the point of being stupid. That was, unfortunately, a consistent aspect of that whole series -- mind-numbingly dopey repetition.

But you're right about the 4Kids experience -- it was the exact opposite, for two main reasons: I was not the "babe in the woods" that I was during the FW years, and 4Kids was not FW. I had a great time working with them, mostly with Lloyd Goldfine, who was a pleasure to work with. -- PL

The toy was probably designed before the show, I believe the reason it took a while to get to shelves is because it was pretty expensive.

I know David Wise claims he came up with the Technodrome, but David Wise is a pathological liar.
