He is hoping to release #31 by the end of the year. I'm thinking that it probably had something to do with #32 coming out quite a bit after #31, and it was so highly anticipated, it made sense to release a print version and capitilize off the excitement and then print the older #31 that has already be read by everyone at a later date. I think a lot of it was based on how well #32 sold. PL has offered some insight on his blog.

Dah! Looks like we clearly aren't gonna see #31 get printed this year. Probably next years FCBD weekend. Thats before we can ever hope to see the future issues of #33 onwards one day to conclude this series.

Years ago, didn't Laird say he was going to finish #31 and #32, and then type up all of his plot and character notes? That he wasn't interested in finishing the Volume 4 series, but that'd he would provide his notes to everyone so that we could find out how everything wrapped up? (Like especially how Don finally gets back to normal size and if/how Mikey finally reunites with his brothers?)

Honestly, I'd prefer he just provide his notes and then call it done. Let Andrew Modeen and his awesome team do a fan conclusion years later...

In my personal opinion, authors have a responsibility to not leave their fans hanging like this. I've seen it happen with some other series as well, and it always exasperates me. I respect Laird immensely for what he's done, but please... have a little courtesy and just finish the volume however you can.

I'd rather he not type up his notes on how Volume 4 ends, I don't want to be "spoiled" just in case he finally makes the last few issues.

I'm most curious how the alternate Splinter in the Battle Nexus, and Mikey's feud with the Styracodons and Regenta ends. All the other plotlines are pretty much over at this point too, with Raph, Don and April's arcs mostly wrapped up.

I'm with you on that, but if he does not intend to ever finish them in issue-format, then I absolutely do want those notes, for closure's sake. & I'd be fine with it being left to Lawson/Berger to flesh out alongside Andrew or something, if it came to that. Though I don't know if they'd be willing, for moral reasons. Time will tell, I guess.

Well PL is now 60 years old, so I say if we don't get Volume 4 finished within the next 10 years by the time he's 70, then its obviously not happening.

Hopefully sooner than that though. Volume 4 started in 2001 for god sakes, and here we are 14 years later left hanging on the same story. I was still in middle school when Volume 4 began for god sakes.

At this point I'd prefer if he just handed over his outlines and writing reins to Jim Lawson. No one powers out TMNT comix like Jim... I think I'd enjoy the writing more too.

By the time #33 is released, I'll have to re-read Volume 4 because I'll forget what has even happened up to that point.

By the time #33 is released, perhaps my grandchildren will like TMNT...

Seeing how I'm currently trying to indoctrinate my 3yrold on liking TMNT (blue is Leo, red is Raph, purple is Don, orange is Mikey!), you can tell I'm not very optimistic on EVER getting a conclusion.

Yes it's frustrating. We all want a conclusion to this volume 4. Peter Laird give us a conclusion.

First one to cross the finish line:

Peter Laird, George R.R. Martin, Kentaro Miura (if you're a Berserk fan you know what I'm talking about...and have probably pulled all your hair out twice.)

Place yer bets!!!

Even if he only got 1 new issue out a year, it would still take him 6-7 years to finish the damn thing.

Just made a quick check on the Berserk manga, the guy has been working on it since the late 80's but the slow release started about 10 years ago. I can't really say anything on that situation but it does seem to still come out every year with exception of the last 2 years. Maybe Wikipedia makes it seem less annoying than it is?

With Martin... Yeah 5 books in 20 years is pretty slow, I have the books but I haven't read them yet because I'm afraid it's gonna take forever for parts 6 and 7 to come out. It's also the same reason I have refused to watch the TV show, because Martin writes so slow they're either going to have to make up their own ending, tap dance for several seasons until Martin writes the final book or just plain not give it a proper ending.

Oddly enough, my bets are on Laird. He has technically made TMNT comics since the mid-80's but this part of them started about 14 years ago and i'm pretty sure he won't need that many more issues to finish it.

You should watch the show, Martin has actually told the writers of the show the fate of every character in case anything happens to him, I read an article a while back, it read that they are afraid that the show is going to pass the point of the story in the books. So if you watch the show you'll probably get a story conclusion before the books

Heh. You can add Daisuke Satō (Highschool of the Dead).

I don't know, I think I vote for Martin, he's at least trying to finish things .
